Practically Perfect in Every Way
This rolling pin replaces one we used for many years that was damaged in a recent move. It appears to be exactly the same as the one it is replacing and performs identically well, i.e., perfectly. I would like to address two issues that some reviewers have raised about the pin.1. The sticker. Perhaps the company has responded to the complaints about the sticker being difficult to remove by changing the adhesive, but I had no significant problem removing the sticker. It is true that it did not come off easily and must be removed with some care, but I did not find it especially difficult to do. I carefully raised one corner with my finger nail until I had enough lifted to grab the label with my fingers. I then very slowly and carefully pulled the sticker off, pulling it back over its own face side. The sticker came off in one piece for me with no difficulty. There was a darkish mark on the pin where the sticker had been, but it was not at all tacky to the touch. I rubbed it with my thumb and it lightened significantly. I expect the dark patch to simply disappear over time with use. It may be that the adhesive is more of a problem on older stock items if the adhesive hardens with age. If that is the case, I would refer those interested to read the several reviews in which owners have found successful methods for removing the sticker. Also, the label was at one side of the face of my pin, where I place my hands in using it, so the label would not have been an issue (except, perhaps, aesthetically) even if I had left it on.2. The rough texture. Those who said that the pin is not well finished, likely are not bakers who have used a rolling pin of this type. It is deliberately left with a slightly rough finish, so it will better hold the flour that is used to "dust" the pin to prevent it sticking to dough when rolling it. Again, it is perfectly made, and functions perfectly, for the job it is intended. This is a great product, and potential purchasers should buy it without reservation.Incidentally, for those so interested, I have found that the Wilton Fondant 20-inch Rolling Pin Guide Rings are a tight, but functional, fit for this rolling pin. The Rolls Royce of Rollers
A week or so ago, I took an edible, and in a moment of clarity, I remembered Thanksgiving was coming, and that I was responsible for the pecan pie. Rolling out the pie crust has always been a challenge for me, as I’d looked for ways to go without a rolling pin. As I was on my couch that evening, a Wirecutter review brought me to this glorious 19 inch slab of maple. Immediately, I was ridiculed by all of my friends and family, as they saw this as overkill. Well now that I’ve used it, I can say it truly changed my life. Feeling how the wood glides through my hands as I roll out this years pie crust brought me true joy. Not many things you’ll buy in your life will bring you the joy that came from using this roller.TLDR; best rolling pin money can buy

Perfect Rolling Pin.. keep it away from flames
I had one of these rolling pins for over 10 years and had no issues with it....until I rested it on the stove and turned it into a yule log. So I was annoyed with myself and bought another one. Hopefully I have learned my lesson. This particular model was also recommended by America's Test Kitchen. This rolling pin is a great length and diameter and I like the fact that it does not have handles. I can also use the ring attachments to control the thickness of dough (Rolling Pin Guide Ring Spacer Bands (8 Piece Set) Multicolored Flexible Silicone Slip On Baking Accessories Fit 1 3/4” to 2” Wide Dough Rollers).

Beautiful rolling dowel!
I bought this ($22.75) for two reasons. I wanted a roller without handles because the handles hit the lip on my pastry board and I wanted something that would handle 18" of dough. This satisfies both of my wants. It's a very nice dowel and I really like it so why only 4 stars? Well, I'm glad you asked. First, I had to return the first one I got because it was poorly finished. There were patches of deep rough spots all along the length. I blame this both on J.K. Adams for poor quality control and on Amazon for shipping returned items without inspecting them first. I believe it had been returned, likely for the same reason I returned it, because the plastic bag that it came in was not sealed while the replacement came in a sealed bag. The other reason for knocking off 1 star was J.K. Adams still hasn't gotten the message that the sticker they put on the dowel does not come off cleanly and leaves a residue. Even after washing I could see the different color where the sticker had been even though it had come off relatively easily. I gave the dowel a nice application of mineral oil and I don't notice the discoloration from the sticker anymore but J.K. Adams really should learn from all the complaints about this sticker and fix it. Bottom line though, I really do like this dowel.

ATK was right - the most solid rolling pin I’ve used.
This thing is awesome. I feel like an authentic Parisian baker when I wield it upright to threaten my children when they misbehave.
