If you have virtually nothing in your kitchen to bake a pie with try the Shoo Fly pie recipe. Great tips for the newbies and the pros. These recipes are mostly simple with easy to follow directions. I found several recipes that had all the ingredients I needed already in my pantry and that was the day before the big monthly grocery trip. I only wish every recipe had a photo but when it comes to pie I have an excellent imagination.

This is a book of tiny dessert pies recipes, there are no savory recipes in this book. I normally thinkof mini pies as 4" version of a standard 8" or 9" pie. The author's definition is smaller (2.75 inches or 1.75 inches) and she uses muffin pans to make them.This recipe book gave a number of good ideas. I like pie, what can I say? And I especially like mini pies. Don't know that they save calories, since you're actually getting more of the crust, which is probably a poorer choice of nutrients than the filling. But the concept of 'a whole lovely pie just for me!' (to paraphrase from the movie 'Home Alone') is appealing, to kids and adults. Now if I can just figure out how to make a light crusted mini pie, or a mini pie with the impossible (as in no knead, no rolling out, no shaping) pie type crust, I think I'd be in love....

What drew me to this book was the word "mini"! I love baking pies and always manage to have extremely good luck making the normal sized pie,. However, when it came to individual or mini, I had a number of hits and misses. This has changed this and I am extremely happy. The other thing I like about this book is the variety of the types of pies. I can please even my fussiest eater. I really would say if you love pies, this is your book!

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but they look scrumptious. The instructions are easy to follow and the picture makes them look even better than they sound. I only have one problem. I was looking for sweet pies, there were none.I received this book through a free site. As always this review is my own opinion and thoughts.

Recipes have details for crust and baking time for full size or small pies. (A few not for smaller pies, but add to variety of recipes)

What a great idea - MINI PIES! Finger food for all my Thanksgiving guests. I plan to make pumpkin pies in teeny version since everyone is full by dessert time anyway. And any food version that will help hold my waistline down by using built in portion control is a plus for me!
