Also works very well with Hillman 3/8 brass threaded insert
Although only the E-Z Lok numbers are mentioned, I found this 500-5 to work very well with the Hellman 3021 3/8-16 brass threaded insert. Note there are tabs on either side of the 500-5 that have to fit into the slots of the insert. The slots of many threaded inserts are too narrow for these tabs. But slots of the Hellman 3021 are wide and work very well. Assuming you are wiling to lay out about $2 per 3/8 insert, the Hillman is, in my opinion, the strongest insert and is great for both soft wood and hard wood. The 3/8 inch Hillman is almost an inch in length and should have a higher pull-out force in soft wood than shorter inserts and also work fine in hard wood (if you have the length available). An additional advantage is that brass inserts have noticeably less friction than steel inserts.I can drive the 500-5 straight using my impact drill and can extract the insert with the same tool provided I keep firm downward pressure. The only limitation to this 500-5 is its OD is larger than the 15/32 inch hole Hillman recommends and I have to stop when the insert is flush.I like to drive the Hillman insert a bit below flush for optimum strength. The T-handle hand tool that Hillman sells for about $7 has an OD smaller than 15/32 and can drive the insert below flush with a turn or two at the end and extract a sub-flush insert back to flush with the same tool. My impact drill with the 500-5 can start up and finish the job outside of flush.I also bought the 500-4 which works well with the 5/16 inch Hillman inserts, but the 5/16 inch Hillman is a lot shorter than the 3/8 Hillman so I kept to the 3/8 inch Hillman and coughed up the money.

Probably okay for soft wood, doesn't last long for hard woods
I bought this to screw in around 30 ez-lok wood inserts into hard wood. The tool worked okay for the first 10 or so, but as I continued on the tool started slipping against the insert more often, producing little brass chips. I was driving the wood inserts into a hardwood that needs to support a lot of weight so I didn't want to try enlarging the pilot hole further. By the end, I could only use the tool for removing the inserts. I used a stainless steel screw and some bolts to drive the wood inserts in.Do I recommend the tool? Yes, if you're using it with softwood or only have a couple wood inserts to install. If you're installing dozens of wood inserts into hardwood, I think you'll be disappointed by how long the tool lasts.

Best way to install threaded inserts.
This tool works great in a drill press when turning the chuck by hand. The inserts go in straight and fast.

The keystone to jigs
Much better than breaking my inserts with a flathead screwdriver... I always wondered how in the wood magazine’s jigs, router tips and tricks how each jig had inserts installed in many places but meanwhile in the reality of my garage I could only install one and crack/split 4. Also in the magazines the inserts would be driven in vertical and straight when every single one I tried to install went in diagonal or twisting off axis and there for useless. Then I stumbled upon this insert driver WOW so there was a secret to installing these inserts and this is it...

Well worth the money
This tool did the job on my ford expedition. It was easy to remove a old sleeve that had been installed in the spark plug hole wrong by a previous owner. I would recommend this product

It breaks the notch of the brass inserts easily
When driving an insert, the bit tends to back itself out or ruins the notch of the insert easily.Seemingly good concert, really hard to use on hardwood.

Amazon getting sloppy with deliveries
The product was as expected and seems to be worth it's value. I don't like some of the deliveries we've had a few times. This one was marked as to person at service desk. I live in a house and it was handed to no-one. It was left on the front porch, which is fine but why say something different than the truth? Possibly a mistake? Could be, but I think these delivery drivers are driven to distraction without time to stop to even go use a restroom. I like the service, but the treatment of the workers is lacking.
