Recency Mystery and Romance
Lady Katherine wants to be an investigator. She is good at it having solved a murder mystery in book 1. But alas, ladies are not welcome in this profession, particularly the daughter of a duke. Having success in matchmaking, Lady Katherine has found the perfect cover to investigate crimes. She takes her charges to where crimes are being committed. Thus we get an awesome murder mystery plus a whirlwind romance, as is not uncommon in recency times where debutantes are given a season to find a husband. Love This Series.

Lady Katherine Book 2 Detective and Matchmaker
Lady Katherine, her maid Harriet, Lyle from Bow Street, pug Emma and Prudence Burwick are off to Bath to hopefully catch the burglar that has been stealing jewelry from ladies of Society. Add in that Lady Katherine is acting as a matchmaker for Prudence Burwick which allows her entry to places were as a detective she wouldn’t be welcome and you have a funny storyline. Spoiled ladies of society wear their jewels, trying to outdo each other, then getting upset that one’s jewels were stolen and another’s not. I love the way Emma, the pug, finds things she shouldn’t. With her matchmaking skills, a husband maybe found for Prudence and Wayland (another detective who isn’t liked by Lady Katherine’s father) is there to help solve the crime.

Kitty takes Bath
Katherine is trying her best to catch the Bath burglar. She needs to prove that solving the pink ribbon murder wasn't a fluke, that she is a good detective and deserves her independence. After coming to Bath, she finds herself dodging an obstacle course that include a matchmaking Grandmother, her own matchmaker client, condescending males, her mean spirited matchmaker rival, and a man who is either a rival or friend, if only she knew which. Not enough mayhem and excitement for you? Let's add in a swirl of secrets, a cloaked figure that shows up at the crime scenes but disappears and a hired detective that is more interested in chasing skirts than crooks. The funniest characters are the spoiled members of the ton who don their jewels and parade like peacocks, trying to out do each other and are both insulted and insulting when their jewels don't draw the attention of the thief. I nearly forgot about Emma, a pug that doubles as a felon and detective. With all that, what's a female detective to do? Pull up her big girl bloomers and solve the crime, of course. Excellent read.

Five stars for book two!
I really enjoyed this book, the second in the series. Not difficult to figure out who did what and why - the fun is in seeing the characters get there, especially without benefit of modern technology/modern forensics. This isn't a young woman who decides to become a detective and is perfect from the get go. This is a capable, intelligent young woman who is learning how to detect [somewhat on her own], getting it right some of the time, making mistakes other times. In fact she makes a huge mistake, one that leads her in the wrong direction. Refreshingly, the author has her own up to it in the end [to herself], making it a learning moment. As readers, we get to enjoy watching Lady K's professional and personal growth. I think the personal growth will take longer - not much fun for Captain Wayland but most entertaining for us!

Repetitive
Supposedly this is an intelligent young woman that is allowed to take care of herself. Unfortunately the majority of the book this “intelligent “ girl spends doubting every single person that she has ever had any type of relationship. It became boring after the eighth person was dissected about who-what-why they were around. When it got to the 12th person it was boring. She doubted she father, friend, maid , multiple friends of her father, childhood friends . BORING. First book started in 5he same manor , I thought it was because they were building the character. Wrong this is the character. I will not follow any more of this series. It’s a shame, I thought this would be interesting.

Baffling is right.
The first book in the series is wonderful and while this one is a good story, I found myself annoyed that Lady Katherine didn't really do herself justice. Hopefully in future books Katherine will write details down and not ASSUME that the Ton are all trustworthy unless they are down on their luck. I found myself more enarmoured of Pru who truly acted the part of a woman who could careless what people thought.

Bah Humbug
Lady Katherine’s detecting skills closely resembles those of a bull in a china shop. She only resolves the case by sheer luck. Characters are shallow and vapid. Please would someone tell me why her father doesn’t approve of Capt. Wayland’s way of detecting? He is obviously far ahead of Lady Katherine. Obviously a silly red herring to explain her distrust of him and not sharing her feeble efforts. After awhile it seems to be only a way to drag out the book to its unsatisfying end.

Lady Katherine and Emmare involved in another mystery
I enjoyed this latest Lady Katherine mystery, with her friends, maid, dog and various Lords and Ladies and wannabe's. As many others have said, the authors gave good descriptions of the surroundings and some of the activities of the era of this setting. The mystery was good, the sub-plot of romance worked well. I definitely wasn't ready for it to end with Captain Wayland not having kissed Lady K. Sigh....

A delightful romp through the streets of Bath, and through the Baths themselves!
Delightful characters that make you smile as you read. A lightness of touch which has made me think of Georgette Heyer (must re-read one or more of her books which I read in my teens, I believe). A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Another great read
I love these easy read books by Leighann Dobbs and this was as good as any other of hers.

Engaging and funny, all the way through
Harmony and Leighann fill Katherine's world with vivid descriptions and humorous characters. The mystery is interesting and kept me seconds guessing my own deductions all the way, and I especially like the matchmaking half of the book, it's fun and heartwarming and brings out more dimensions to these lovable characters.I look forward to the next in the series, I want to meet these points again, and hope it doesn't end any time soon.
