Best black sand I have ever used, when washed properly.
Sand is sand... If you use it in an aquarium, you need to wash it.Some sands need less washing, others more.I bought 10kgs, which came in 2x 5kg bags. Weight was spot on, and it is indeed BLACK SAND. Some others I have noticed isn't, and is in fact very fine gravel, or not quite black. This really hits the spot.First of all I used it a fish tank. I washed it as I would wash anything else (thoroughly), put it in the tank and filled it up. I was surprised that it still gave me quite cloudy water for a couple of days. After that, I also used the othe bag in a shrimp tank. I made absolutely sure that this was clean and had no problems with cloudy water whatsoever. After a few days in the first tank, I noticed some soapy bubbles forming on the surface, and also... All my snails died. I am not blaming the sand, as I have obviously not washed it thoroughly enough, but be warned... MAKE SURE YOU WASH IT DOUBLE PROPERLY!If you want black sand... This is the one, but if you don't do your due diligence, you run your own risks.

Does what it says on the tin
Its rather difficult to write a detailed description of a bag of sand. In essence I recieved a bag of sand, colour and weight as described and promptly delivered. As with all aquarium sand it required washing to remove the fine particulates (which if left would make your tank cloudy and clogg your filter). I found the final effect very pleasing, I also added some large gravel to provide some contrast. Pic attached so you can make your own minds up :)

Good product
When calculating amount needed, don’t make my mistake. Sand is quite dense and it is hard to visualise how far it will go by weight. I ordered 2kg which worked out at 1.25 litres before being washed.Nice natural colour and once the fine stuff is removed, the wet sand becomes quite firm which should hopefully prevent it from being easily disturbed.Fast delivery from seller and a great price so all in all very happy.Setting my nano aquarium up one slow step at a time so we will see how it goes.Update: photo attached, is immediately after filling tank. It’s a little cloudy as I disturbed it planting the Dwarf grass.

Looks Good
Bright white sand, not too course or too fine. Carpeting plants such as Monte Carlo have no issue propagating roots. Bulb and stem plants grow well with roots having no issues with the substrate. Anchors plants well and doesn’t suffocate roots. Doesn’t allow leaching of root tabs (unless disturbed), some gas build up in the substrate as with most medium to fine substrates, Malaysian Trumpet Snails solve this

Beautyful
Beautiful white sand. For me just the right size grain. This bag was enough for my small tank. ( ciano aqua 20)I washed it several times. First water was like milk. I washed it until it run clean so I do not have any problem afterwards. This is the firs time I used sand instead of gravel.

Really needs thorough rinsing
The sand contains a lot of foreign objects - plastic beads, bits of detritus etc etc. Presumably this is from where it has be stored in a pile outside before bagging. To clean 3kg it took about 45-1hr of rinsing. A lot of rinsing is expected with sand but be vary wary of the foreign objects.Having said all that, once cleaned it does look great in the aquarium! (Natural sand)

Substrate Substitute...
Just brilliant change from the multi coloured stones one normally sees in tanks... I am changing over from goldfish to white cloud Mountain Minnows... Parcel arrived inside time frame, and was well taped to avoid spillage or loss... very pleased, and will re-order more, when time comes. Highly recommended seller ...
