How long will the charge last in standby mode?

Not sure what you mean by standby mode. I charged mine when I first got it almost two months ago. I leave the power off when I'm not using it. I take it when I walk my dogs because we have problems with neighborhood dogs running loose so I just turn it on during our walk.

how long is this...what are the dimensions?

I gifted it to my daughter right after I got it but I believe it was around 18in. And it was about as big around as the handle of a baseball or soft ball bat

Does it work as a club too?

You can use anything as a club. However, this device doesn't appear to be heavy enough to use as a club. In fact, the instructions say that you shouldn't discharge it into the air for more than 1 second at a time. The primary defense is that a person can't grab the device without getting zapped. Also you can use it to jab a person with the front end zapping them. However, I have not tried it out on myself or anyone else and so I don't really know how it zapps someone. I am just going by how many people have bought it and their reviews.
