Glory Beeping Hallelujah
I have been coveting one of these stylers since I borrowed a friend's in the UK in 2007... and I finally got one! And it's an authentic one! I suspect Amazon's prices are low to compete with all of the vendors selling fakes on here, which is a shame for them but worked out just fine for me. MAKE SURE you select the one that's shipped from AND sold by Amazon - the main page for this product seems to rotate between several vendors, not all of them trustworthy, and right now I have to check the little "More Buying Choices" sidebar to find the one sold by Amazon itself. They were the main vendor for this page when I ordered, but they're not now, so it looks like it changes out.I was able to register mine with GHD's website, and everything looks/feels like the quality you'd expect from something that usually retails for almost twice what you'll pay for one here, so I'm pretty positive it's legit.I've been using a CHI for the last 8 years. The same CHI. It's held up well, clearly, and still works, but it just doesn't heat like it used to, and its time has been up for a while now. It's served me well, I'd read some reviews in several places saying that their quality had dropped off, and I still remembered how wonderful the GHD I'd tried had been (and that was when my CHI was still in its prime!), so in looking to replace my straightener, I really wanted to see if I could find an authentic GHD at a reasonable price. And I did!I've only had my GHD for a few days now, so I can't attest to its longevity (I somehow doubt anything will ever compete with its predecessor on that front anyway), but it works like an absolute dream. The first time I turned it on I was sure something wasn't working quite right because it gave me the "all heated up!" beep so rapidly - under 15 seconds. But no. Ready to go. It slid through my hair like butter, leaving nothing but smoothness in its wake. My ends don't feel all frazzled like they do when I use cheaper straighteners, and I can get pretty substantial waves out in a single pass with minimal styling product. And it goes into sleep mode after 30 minutes, which is wonderful - "did I leave the hair straightener on?" is my personal equivalent of the old "did I leave the gas on?" worry.A fantastic product for an excellent price, and I couldn't be happier. Just choose your vendor wisely, and make sure to check authenticity on their website!

How to purchase a legit GHD like mine!
Okay so to begin I wanted a GHD being the top of the line hair straightener in competition with the sudo but I didnt want to pay the $200 price tag so Amazon was my best choice.I want to say my previous hair straightener was a Solia which is also one of the top hair straightener and I purchased it straight from folica.comCompared to the solia the GHD defiantly beats it and I'm very happy I purchased it.A lot of complaints for the GHD was that people kept getting FAKE non legit ones, I am happy to say I received a legit GHD and you can too.The best way to know if it is legit whether it comes from Amazon or not is to check the sellers reviews (always do so). I usually buy from those who have usually more then 1000 reviews and score at least a 97%. That is how you know whether you are getting the real deal.Second, when you receive it, to test its authenticity sign up for its warranty from the little paper they give you included. If it has the shiny sticker inside the clasps of the straightener it is most likely the real deal but to make sure you should sign up for again, its warranty. If it goes through, congrats you have a REAL GHD!This is how you can tell if your GHD is a FAKE FAKE FAKE!-if it is made in china (it is manufactured in P.R.C. or South Korea)-if the warranty does not work-if you do not have the shiny sticker in itAlso, be cautious when buying from a third party seller. Also, the warranty will most likely be voided if you buy from Amazon, but you should still sign up for it to check for its authenticity.Hope this helped guys

Beats the CHI
So I had the CHI straightener for not that long, probably a year and half, and when it hit the bucket I was going to buy another one, but Kandee Johnson on youtube recommended this one, so I thought I'd look into it. It's more expensive than the CHI, but I really didn't want a straightener that would just die after a year. The CHI only lasted as long as the cheaper straighteners I bought from walmart did. So I decided to shell out the money hoping it would be worth it. And so far so good. It's better than the CHI by far! It heats up in no time and lets you know when it's ready with a few beeps. It'll shut itself down if you don't use if after a half hour (it'll keep beeping though to let you know to switch it off.) It gets my hair smoother than the CHI but what I really love is that it keeps my hair straighter. I have wavy frizzy hair and even if I straighten my hair but go outside on a humid or rainy day, it'll frizz up and start curling like I'm possessed or something lol. With the GHD, I can straighten my hair and know that it will last through humidity and even a few raindrops (not a storm though haha.) Also it doesn't damage my hair as much, I don't know how since it has a higher heat setting, but it does. I swear. So far I've had no problems with it and I feel like it's built to last!!
