I thought about giving this sphere 4 a shot considering I had been impressed with my Tibo Plus 3’s (bought a few years ago for £179), which sounded great with brilliant depth. To put it simply, the speaker is disappointing, and it’s not so much the woeful Wi-Fi feature, as I use Bluetooth, it’s the sound quality which given its size, sounds too flat. I use my Libratone zipp 2 as a benchmark as that also uses a 4 inch neodymium woofer, as does this, albeit it’s a long-throw, similar to that of a hifi speaker such as my plus 3’s, and the difference in weight between the two is enormous. Whilst the zipp 2 will fill a room with vibrancy and weight, the sphere 4 disappoints, with little weight to what should sound good. I also own the audio pro c3 and even though that features a 3.5 woofer and the cabinet itself is smaller than the sphere 4’s, it’s sound is in another realm. It kicks better than this.Perhaps that explains why you could pick this up for far less than rrp.
