It is what it is
First of all, for everyone who is looking at the ratings, what do you think you're buying? This isn't the cure for cancer. I paid $2.69 for a cheap piece of metal and plastic to clean my pipe that I don't have to throw away every time. So let's look at what I got.* It fits inside the various stems of my pipes.* It's just shy of the mouthpiece for my churchwarden pipe (just shy by 1/8 inch, but that's fine).* It scrubs the pipe better than the disposable type, coarse grade (I like).* It washes clean.* It bent upon use, but only to fit the bends of each individual stem (so would you rather have a metal rod that breaks your pipe stem?).* It bent back to original position with the application of slight pressure.* It did the job I bought it for in half the time I used to take with disposable pipe cleaners. Why I rated this the way I did: I bought a cheap piece of tin and plastic. That's exactly what I got. I don't expect for a professional team to come out and clean my pipes for $2.69. This product cleaned my pipes better than when I use disposables. It cleaned out rather nicely (i used dish soap to clean it). I didn't have to throw it away after one use. That being said, I use cleaning brushes of similar build for my camelback bladders and my sport water bottles. They are meant to be bendable so they don't damage your expensive items and so they can get to hard to reach areas. Is this a cheap product? Yes it is. Both the price and the pictures on the page will tell you that before you buy it. Does it do what it is designed to do? Yes it does, and it does it very well. Do you have to throw it away after each use? This is a no brainer, but has to be asked. No, and I anticipate at least 3 months of use out of it. The cleaning brushes I have of similar make for other products feel pretty much like this one, and I've had them for over 7 years. Finally, knowing what this is and having no illusions, I would recommend this product to any of my friends who smoke pipes. It's cheap. It does the job. It's clean and very sanitary if used properly.

this lil brush is the bomb!! it is a great pipe cleaning brush, with or w/o the use of alcohol, but needless to say, it is very handy for any lil job where long, lil brush is needed, also very high quality, very sturdy! im happy!! i have already recommended these brushes & will definitely order more in very near future, as ive found so many uses for them!!

Great for cleaning h.b. feeders.
Perfect brush for cleaning humming bird port feeder holds. Use a little bleach and dish soap with hot water to clean out the gunk from H.B. feeder holes.

Tiny
I had bought this brush to clean the vent pipe in my bathroom sink. It's my own fault for not reading the description closer but this brush is really, really tiny...far too small for the vent pipe. I still found use for it, to clean the inside of the rigid straw in my sports water bottle, but I had expected a much larger item when I ordered it considering they use the words "heavy duty" in the description. Oh well -- live and learn. Thank heavens it was cheap!

Awful for pipe/bong/similar. Stick with disposable - more clean, less waste.
If all you're cleaning is the inside of a straw or clearing dust out of a teeny space, then this is probably great. I got it to keep my bong clean, threw away after 3 uses. The bristles are strong, to be sure, and they scrub really well, but they're IMPOSSIBLE to get clean. I always clean my stuff with rubbing alcohol and salt, and everything scrubs up with a couple good swishes. I used Q-Tips for the bowl and nozzle - will be going back to the Q-Tips. The resin got all in the bristles, and no matter how much soap, water, or alcohol I used, never felt clean enough that I could touch the end without my fingers getting sticky, or without dirtying whatever surface I laid it on to dry.

Not a bad cleaner
Helps clean tedious pieces, but the brush itself is a little too malleable, so sometimes it doesn't help get the gunk off. There are some pipe cleaners that still bend and are sturdier, but this one for my purposes gets the job done.
