good sturdy buckle
These work great and seem very sturdy. I have not tried to light a fire with one but they do produce a good amount of sparks with the appropriate pressure and force. There is a coating on the flint which needs to be rubbed or scratched off before any sparks occur.I have used them to make several paracord bracelets. I did not find them to be uncomfortable even though the buckles are a bit large. They may be a bit awkward for anyone with small wrists. Overall I would recommend and purchase again.

A bit Pricey, but Fun.
I liked these buckles. I agree with an earlier reviewer that said the strikers don't sit flush with the buckle, but I honestly prefer using a knife, so I leave the strikers off. I disagree with earlier reviewers on the whistle: I found the whistles on my buckles to be every bit as loud as other multi-purpose survival whistles.PROs:-Quality materials, these are every bit as strong as standard buckles-Firestarter and striker integrated into the buckle-Whistle integrated into the buckle-Not clunky like you'd expectCONs:-Striker fit is slightly loose-Firestarter is in an awkward position, but this is a fair trade-off, since it is integrated with the buckle-A 5 pack was $15.99, so these are way over-priced. I think $1.50-$2.00/buckle is more than fairThese were a fun project to try once, but for the price, I am hesitant to purchase again.

Pretty Neat Multipurpose Buckle
I am using this to make paracord belts as gifts for friends. It is a bit small for a belt, but I bought it knowing this and hoping it would still work. It does work, though it is difficult to get the required number of wraps of paracord into the attachment points. (I wound up having to use a set of alligator foreceps, also bought on Amazon*, to help me push it through the space.)The striker takes a bit of getting used to. I had a fairly difficult time drawing a spark from it at first, but eventually got a spark so big it startled me--I thought for a second I might burn down the place. ;)I don't know why some reviewers knock the whistle for not being loud. It is fairly easy for me to get it to whistle so loudly that it hurts my ears. The only thing I was disappointed about was the "cutting edge." Good luck getting it to cut anything. Whatever you do manage to cut with it will likely wind up looking like it was attacked by an army of miniature beavers. While it is probably going to be better than trying to cut something with fingernails or teeth, I surely hope I never wind up needing it for that.* 2pcs Stainless Steel Alligator Forceps Set

Shuck it, Skin it, Strike it, Sound it.
I'm using these to make a bunch of paracord bracelets for a group of coworkers. They think that this buckle is the best thing since disposable toilet paper! Although they think the whistle function is a little corny, it doesn't stop them from 'tooting their horns' often and with gusto. Lots of fun and practical too!

Super bulky for any normal size persons wrist
Was not as strong as stated, clips weren't clean it had excess plastic hanging off. Super bulky for any normal size persons wrist, also the tool is not well secured, there are two lips that hold it in and one side usually snaps and tool no longer can be secured. It's junk

Not good for bracelets
Bought this based on the high rating, but was very disappointed.First impressions were pretty good, the buckles seemed big, but after receiving them and pulling the first one out, it seemed like a good buckle. Then we put it beside our other bracelet buckles and started to make a bracelet. That is when the short comings of this bracelet started to become very clear. The buckle itself is HUGE compared to other bracelet buckles. Most buckles we have used, when placed on your wrist are narrower than the width of your wrist(about half the width), this one is almost the width of my wrist. The whistle is not very loud, so unless the rescuer is within about 10 feet of you, they most likely will not hear it.The blade, in my opinion the worst part of the buckle! As stated, this buckle is much larger than normal bracelet buckles. It is also a flat buckle which means it does not conform to the curvature of your wrist. This leads to the sharp side of the blade sticking out away from the buckle. This may seem like a minor issue, but when wearing a bracelet made with this buckle, you must make a choice. Do you want the blade to be cutting you clothes or your wrist when you wear it?The purpose of these bracelets are to give you a little bit of EDC that can help you survive in a SHTF situation. This buckle would do that, but at the risk of damaging other items previously to that with the exposed blade sticking out. This is not a bracelet that I would suggest for someone to use to make a bracelet. Maybe a small belt or strap, but not a bracelet.

Every clasp works as expected. My only grief is that 2/3's of the one's I received had a lot of extra molded plastic on them as well as the structures were off. They are still usable but just not perfect. Not a bad buy for the cost and will do the job.

Got a 10 pack of these and like others, the striker didn't set flush in the depression made for it. I broke one trying to correct this, but found that I could put a large paper clip over the striker side of the buckle and put it in nearly boiling water for 30 seconds. I then let it cool before removing the clip and that seems to resolve the problem. Other than having to do this to each buckle, I think they are great, but I also have a large wrist.
