Better than the pictures!
I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing my review but I so impressed with this watch out of the box I couldn't wait. I've read some negative reviews on the watch battery dying after a few weeks. I am sure there is some bad batches out there. This was one major concern I have to be honest. I almost didn't buy it for this reason. I am crossing my fingers this isn't true with mine and plan this watch to me my everyday go to watch. This is my first G shock watch also and I'm blown away with the quality and simple style of this watch. I am a watch collector and wanted to add this watch to my collection. This is not only ideal for military personnel but anyone who is looking for a rugged durable everyday work horse watch. I will revise my review should I have any issues but for now I am very content with the purchase. I am glad I did purchased this solid watch mainly to the gym and outdoors. It appears bullet proof ready for the harshest conditions. Only time will tell if this watch lives up to the name. The back light is a cool light green and the dial us easy to see in the dark. For under $45 bucks this watch was worth every penny. I can't think of any watches that is such as high quality for that price. It super comfort able to wear on the wrist and does not pinch on th. This particular model is a few years old but the skin like some watches do. It's a older model but better than some current models that are higher in price. Its just my opinion. If this watch lasts long time then I will purchase another G shock again in the future.

Lasts Forever
I've purchased this watch at least three times. The reason I keep buying it is because I keep setting it down somewhere and losing it. I've never had to replace a battery, possibly because I lost the oldest one. I found two of the watches I lost, one from 2017, the other from 2018. At least, I assume one of them isn't from 2013. They are tough. I've banged my watch around, dropped it, and whacked it on concrete. The worst thing that happened was a pin slipped out of the band, but I just put it back in, and moved on with my day. They've survived downpours, submersion, showers, sweat, heat, and cold. I only have two complaints. One, they run a little fast. Two, the buttons are a little mushy, so configuring the watch is annoying. Other than that, they've been perfect, and well worth the $39.42 (2013), $39.99 (2017), and $42.40 (2018) that I paid for them. I'd buy this watch a fourth time, but I've been pretty good about not losing my watches, so I might upgrade to a fancier G-Shock. Absolutely buy with confidence. It's a relatively inexpensive, high quality, tough watch that lasts forever.

Overall, great watch!
This is my first G-Shock of many to come. It arrived in a timely fashion. Though the product was not damaged, I would have liked for the item to be more secure within the package and not have so much room to slide around during shipment. To put it in perspective, imagine a ring box inside of a small dvd player box with one layer of bubble wrap surrounding it. This watch has all the major features that I need in a watch; month, day and year display and the hourly chime are most important to me. Beware though, the sign for the hourly chime is the common alarm sign of the bell. On most watches the chime sign is "sig", not the bell. This was pretty confusing. It has various other nice and useful features and the backlight is pretty bright. Also, I hate watches that slide up and down your arm all day. This watch fits very securly. The make up of this watch is very solid. The only issue that I still have is that I can't figure how to recall either lap in lap timing. The instructions say that it saves first and second place lap times. I can't get it to do that. Also, many may already know, but I've never had a watch that had numbers that corresponded to years so it took me a while to figure that out as well. When trying to adjust the day of the week, you'll have the choose from numbers 1-99. Each number corresponds to a year; 9=2009, 12=2012, 99=2099. The instructions aren't nearly as helpful. Four stars for ease of setup. If it had been easier, five stars.

Will this thing ever die???
I bought this Casio G-Shock DW9052-1V for my son when he was 14 as his very first watch. At the time, I figured if a watch could survive teenage boy behavior, it deserved some kind of military award. Well, here we are 13 years later, and this thing is STILL going strong. This watch has survived middle school, sports, questionable teenage decisions, being dropped, slammed, submerged, and probably at least one attempt to “see what happens if…” It’s basically the cockroach of watches — absolutely indestructible. Meanwhile, I’ve replaced phones, laptops, chargers, earbuds, and approximately 47 water bottles in the same time period. The G-Shock just keeps ticking away like, “Pathetic.” The battery lasts forever, it still looks good, and it has officially outlived several phases of my son’s personality. At this point I’m convinced this watch will be passed down to future generations like a family heirloom forged in a volcano. If you need a durable watch for a kid, teen, or chaotic human in general, this is the one.

6900, 6600, and 9052 Review and Comparison
Review This is a review and comparison of 3 very similar g shocks at very similar prices here on Amazon. The 5600, 6900, and 9052. If, like me, you like all 3 and can’t decide, this review is for you. I’ve posted this in the reviews of all three watches since it applies to all of them. I’ll start with the similarities: They are, functionally, the exact same watch. The only difference is the graphics/arrangement of the LCD. All three have the exact same mode button functionality. Press once for an alarm which can be set for a specific time as well as specific date and year. Press again for a countdown timer that can be set for up to 24 hours. The current time is also displayed on the screen which is a nice touch. Press again for the stopwatch. It does not have a lap counter but does have a split so you can record lap times manually or record first/second place finishes. The current time is also displayed on this screen which is, again, a nice touch. Press again to return to the home screen which displays the day, date, and time. The watch will beep with each press of the mode button but will beep differently when you make it back to the main clock screen letting you know you’ve made it through all the functions. 200m of water resistance which more than 99% of us will ever come close to needing. You can choose between 12 and 24 hour timekeeping and set the backlight to flash with the alarm, timer, and hourly chime. You cannot mute the button presses. Everything you just read applies to all three watches. Now for the differences and pros/cons of each. I’ll start by saying I don’t think any of these are better than the other as they are functionally the same. It really comes down to size and aesthetics. Starting with the 5600 - the OG. The 5600 is the closest to the original G-Shock and the most classic of the three. This is the most basic version but it comes in dozens of colors and variations. This particular model only comes in black which isn’t a bad thing. It goes with everything. It’s the smallest of the three and has the lowest height by far. If you have a smaller wrist, this is the one you want. It’s pretty thin as G-Shocks go, though not as thin as a 2100, and comes from a time before G-Shocks were the size of a truck tire. The current version was just re-released in 2024 and replaced the electro-luminescent backlight for a very bright, white LED. I still have the older EL version but prefer the LED better. It’s clearer and brighter in my opinion but both are fantastic. If you order one and receive the other (which seems to be common) don’t be upset. Both are completely visible in the darkest dark. I just prefer the LED. The 5600 is also the easiest to read of the three. The clock itself has the largest numbers and there are no ticking graphics taking up screen space. It’s a bit boring to look at (when compared to the others) but the most practical as there’s no wasted space. The 5600 is timeless and will never, ever go out of style. The 6900 is a big chungus. It is a chonky boy. If you have a small wrist, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s big, very tall, and the fixed curvature of the strap makes it look even bigger on wrist. But many of us buy G-Shocks for that massive wrist presence so if that’s your thing, then this is it. It’s the biggest of the three. The 6900 and 9052 both have dedicated backlight buttons on the front which I really appreciate. This one also just got an update replacing the EL backlight with a white LED. The same comments apply as for the 5600. Both are great but I prefer the LED. The 6900 has a bit more personality than the 5600. There are three dials across the top that are really only there for aesthetic reasons. They tick along with the seconds until they’re all full and then continue until they’re all empty. They’re not really anything you’d use to help tell the time. They just look cool. Their presence though, does make less space for the day, date, and time so those are a little smaller than on the 5600. I have pretty bad eyesight these days but I have no trouble reading it. I don’t consider it small but it is smaller than the 5600. One difference of note between the 6900 and the others is the plastic buckle. For some reason this model has a a plastic buckle while the other two have metal. I don’t see this ever being a problem. It’s really thick as watch buckles go. It’s worth noting that this model has been around since the mid 90’s and has always had a plastic buckle. They’re all G-Shocks and all meant for real world wear and abuse and the 6900 looks like the one that could endure the most mistreatment. Whether or not that’s true, I don’t actually know but it sure looks the toughest. The 9052 is the most unique of the three. It has a smaller diameter like the 5600 but has the chonky thickness of the 6900. If you have a smaller wrist but want a bigger watch, this should be your choice. Also if you have a medium to large wrist, any one of these is perfect. The face of the 9052 is probably my least favorite for a few reasons. The day and date are separated from the time by a very cool looking but functionally useless bar that ticks full and empty along with the seconds. This puts the day and date on a very slim section of the lcd which makes it harder to read. If you’re younger and have good eyesight you can probably disregard this but I find myself having to look a bit longer to focus on the date when I need it. One more thing of note about the date: The 6900 and 9052 lcd screens are recessed really deep into the watch case. This isn’t a factor on the 6900 but the 9052 case actually casts a shadow over the date on the lcd. If you’re not in the right lighting, half the numbers sit in shadow and I end up having to hit the backlight to read it. Not an issue but it is worth mentioning. The best thing about the 9052 is the fit. Of the three, it is the only one without a fixed strap. The strap swings freely on its spring bars and doesn’t have a pre-curve so it wraps right around your wrist and fits very comfortably. This not only makes it the most comfortable but also makes it wear the smallest, despite being much thicker than the 5600. But don’t worry, it makes up for this by having the widest strap. When I say it wears the smallest, I mean of the three. It does not wear small. The other two have a pre-curved strap that does not swing freely. This adds some shock protection if they are ever dropped and also makes the watch wear larger as it goes out from the watch before curving around your wrist. The 9052 also has the easiest buttons to press. Big flat pushers as opposed to typical very-small metal ones. No need to dig your fingernail into these things. The backlight is still an EL! The 9052 has not received the LED update yet, if ever. If you insist on an EL backlight, the 9052 is the one you want. As of today (4/4/25) it is only available with an EL. It is also the only one of the three that comes in different colors at around the same price. Look to pay double for a different version 5600 or 6900 if you want a color. The 9052 comes in a few color options all around the same price. I went with blue which is more of a bright navy and looks fantastic with the yellow accents and silver face. That’s it! That’s all I can think of anyway. These are three functionally identical watches so it just comes down to fit, size, and aesthetics. I have all three and don’t really have a favorite. I just let the heart decide before putting one on for the day.

Mind blowing watch, sturdy, very rough and tough
I m happy that product is not fake and it's actual G- shock watch from Casio, if you have used G-shock before then I don't think so I have to write anything about it here because it's understood. But still for new users I would say go for it blindly. G-shock is a very good product of Casio and I Have used it before and recently I bought it for my boyfriend. He loved it.

A classic that brings back memories
This was one of my very first watches when I was young, so owning it again brings back a lot of good memories. Still as tough and reliable as I remember. Simple, durable, and easy to read. G-Shock quality never disappoints.

Great watch with a great history behind it.
I originally bought the black & gold DW-9052 a few months ago, but I ultimately decided to get rid of that one and went with this classic black & red colour. This watch is as basic as any other base model G-Shock, with your standard one alarm with hourly chime, countdown timer, and stopwatch. This watch model still has the electroluminescent backlight, in comparison to the 5600 and 6900. The buttons are very easy to press on this watch, when compared to other G-Shocks. It wears very comfortable on the wrist as well. The watch is a good size for those with small and large wrists. Fun fact about this watch, it’s one of the four watches (other ones include the DW-5600, DW-6900, and the DW-6600) that have a NATO stock number assigned to it, meaning that it’s a G-Shock that’s been thoroughly tested for standard military use. The only flaw about this watch is the display is a bit small, so it may be a bit troublesome to look at the display for those that don’t have the best eyesight. Overall, this is a great watch for those looking to get a durable watch and want something different than the G-Shock square.
