Tried 5 various flapper valves that did not cure problem before doing this.
Notes on Installing Korky Universal Toilet Kit(4 stars because the kit did not come with all the parts shown in the picture. Parts missing were 3 rubber washers,3 metal washers, and 3 nuts. The accompanying instructions were for the kit as actually received) )1. The kit is used to replace all the interior components of the toilet tank.2. The Norton Toilet I was repairing had been installed 40 years ago and all but one of the 3 nuts holding the tank to the bowl was rusted and I had extreme difficulty trying to get the nuts off via hack saw.3. Consequently the complete tank and bowl assembly had to be removed.4. After draining the tank and bowl and disconnecting the water line to the tank I discovered that the bolts and nuts holding the bowl to the drain ring were rusted too.5. So I had to do some creative hack-sawing to get the nuts off. Only to discover that the hold down screws had rusted nuts holding the screws to the drain ring. Some judicious wiggling allowed me to work the hold down screws to the wide slot in the drain ring and I removed and discarded the hold down screws.6. Next I laid the bowl and tank assembly on its side and assessed how to get off the rusted nuts. The nut in back was not rounded so with the help of some WD-40 I was able to get it off. The other 2 nuts were cut off using a 426 cutter on a Dremel hand held power tool. Used up 2 cutters per nut. Finally had the tank and bowl apart.7. I then discovered that there was another set of nuts (rusted of course) that were holding the rubber washers to the inside of the tank. The back nut was O.K. but the other two were rounded off.8. The back nut was removed by installing double-nuts(tighten one against the other) on the hold down screw with some spare nuts, using some WD-40,and used a ½ inch socket to hold the double–nut assembly while using a ½ inch open end wrench to remove the rusted nut.9. After some trial and error I discovered that hack sawing the other two nut assemblies as close to the tank as you could get, removing the sawed off piece, and finishing the cutting using the 426 cutter and the Dremel tool finally allowed the pesky hold down screws to be removed.10. Then installed the Korky Universal toilet repair kit per the instructions.11. Reinstalled the bowl using new hold down screws and a new wax seal.12. Added the tank assembly, tightened the hold down nuts, and hooked up the water supply. Toilet worked O.K. but was plagued with leaks at the back hold down screw.13. After 3 weeks of fighting the leak went back to the hardware store and bought some toilet tank rubber washers, extra nuts, and stainless steel washers.14. Went through the process of removing the tank, installing the new rubber washers on the underside of the tank( this in addition to the rubber washers inside the tank), the original kit steel washers, the new nuts and firmly hand tightened all three nuts using a deep ½ inch socket and a couple of ½ inch drive extensions. I did not use the ½ inch drive handle from the socket set per a recommendation from an internet installation video. (This is a departure from the Korky instructions and essentially duplicates the original, 40 year old installation)15. Then put the tank on the bowl and installed the new stainless washers and original nuts checking the tank for level with a 2 foot level as the nuts were firmly hand tightened with a ½ inch deep socket as in step 14 above. Hooked up the water supply and the toilet functions normally. No leaks that I can tell.16. Using experience gained with other toilets I re-tightened the bowl hold down nuts with a 7/16 inch open end wrench about ½ turn.(bowl and tank settle on the wax ring gasket)

Excellent universal toilet repair kit
The design of the Korky system is well thought out and seems to work very well. The only problem I had with the installation involved the flush lever (which is not part of the kit). My toilet is a Mansfield 160 circa 1996 and it had a slow leak. After a bit of research I decided on the Korky and was not disappointed. I had to get a new flush lever because the Mansfield system does not use a chain like most others. I did not realize that the nut that holds the handle is reverse threaded. After a huge struggle with the Mansfield lever I finally watched a YouTube video that clued me in to the reverse threading. The new Korky toilet system is working perfectly so far. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.Update 8/19/2022: The supplied tank/bowl gasket is quite beefy and bulbous. Although I had no problem installing it, I believe it takes some time to seat/compress. So after initially tightening the bolts and testing for leaks it seems the gasket probably compressed some more after the weight of sitting on the toilet and then the bolts started leaking. I had to tighten them multiple times over the first few days. Now they have no leaks (probably because the gasket is fully compressed) and everything is working as expected.

Very easy!
My husband and I just moved to a new place, and, wouldn't you know, two days after moving in the toilet started having problems. Hissing, bubbling when filling, and it seemed to be filling too full and leaking into the overflow. I went online to do some research, and tried a few quick fixes, but I couldn't determine exactly what the problem was. I'm sure I only needed to actually replace one or two things, but since all the parts were old and showing signs of wear, and since a complete kit was less than $20, I figured I'd might as well upgrade everything and do a complete overhaul. The reviews for this product seemed favorable, so I went ahead and bought it.I have no experience with toilets whatsoever, I want to emphasize that, and I found the directions to be clear and extremely easy to follow, and the installation to be INCREDIBLY simple. Anyone who has the slightest bit of aptitude for home repairs can do this.Thankfully the old parts came out with no trouble. The only slight issue I ran into was with the plastic nut holding the flush valve on the bottom of the tank...it was on a bit too tight to twist by hand. I used a pair of adjustable pliers to get a grip on it, and that did the trick. The only other tool I needed for the entire installation was an adjustable crescent wrench.I would strongly encourage anyone thinking about buying this product to take a look at the water supply line leading to the toilet and, if it's a solid metal pipe, just go ahead and plan to replace it with a flexible one. I learned that lesson the hard way, when the bottom of the new fill valve was longer than the old one and wouldn't work with the water supply line. I had to make a special trip out to track down a new flexible braided metal one. Also make sure you know the size of the supply line opening, or you just might have to make another trip back to the store after you realize it's 3/8" and not 1/2" like the one you bought. Oops! Lesson learned - toilet supply lines are not a universal size.Everything has been in place for a little over a week now, and all seems to be working fine. No issues whatsoever, thanks to the clarity of the directions and the quality of the parts. One of the easiest home fixes I have ever done, no question. I can't recommend this product enough.

Basically a brand new toilet
I'm pretty far from handy. But I can read instructions. Those instructions, and a few simple tools (pipe wrench, adjustable wrench, bucket, sponge) and I was able to perform the full toilet surgery in about an hour. Wow - what a difference! My old toilet flush was garbage because the flapper wouldn't stay open long enough and the fill was super slow. Was tempted to buy a new toilet but thought I'd give this a try instead. Saved myself several hundred bucks and now I basically have a new toilet! Not only that, but I saved myself a pretty penny on a plumber!Just bought 2 more kits to do the other toilets :)

1 year in and stopped working properly resolved
Company website offered suggestions how to clean and fix ... works well again ... after 1 year, it had stopped working properly. the float that turns the water on to fill the tank has stopped water flowing consitently and it took a few hours to fill the tank. Cleaned float bowl valve and now works again.

Easy peasy!
Not sure if I already reviewed this...but a second two thumbs up is never too much. I read the instructions, watched a video online and was able to easily change out the existing gear and install the new. As it turned out I didn't even need the flapper, it was fine, so I set it aside for future use should it be required. Was very happy to save the money I would have had to spend on a plumber. No more lackluster, slow fill flushes! Go ahead, you can do it!

A solid return on investment
I had read the comments on here before ordering. Someone mentioned that it would take longer to remove the old kit than it would to install this one. Well, thats exactly what happened! It works beautifully and most importantly, no leaks! The supplied instructions are beyond clear and the vendor has a bunch of how to videos all over the net.I'm thoroughly satisfied with this product and i would highly recommend it! 10/10

Recommended
Awkward installation because of small room with toilet against the wall. Our shortcoming, not theirs. Once accessible it was fairly straightforward. Very quiet operation and no leaks. Recommend.
