I am very happy with this watch
I am very happy with this watch. This is my first Casio G-Shock and so far, I love it. I think the size and shape are just right and I like the functionality. I was a little worried that it might be a little big and bulky on my wrist but I think it fits just right. I have an average size wrist and the watch doesn't look abnormally big on me. I really like the solar function. I wore Timex Ironman watches for years but changing the batteries was such a hassle due to the difficulty in getting the back off with the wrist band in the way. And I had to replace a couple of watches when I didn't get the back sealed properly and water got inside. I'm hoping that with this solar powered one, battery replacement is a thing of the past! It really doesn't take much effort to keep the battery fully charged. When I got the watch in the mail the battery level was at the third level (of four), or the level just below full charge. Initially it took a little bit to get the charge up to full and it went back and forth from full charge to down a level a few times over the first few days. I'm assuming the watch had been sitting in a warehouse out of the light for who knows how long so it probably needed some extended light exposure to fully charge. After a few days I was careful the expose the watch to direct sunlight for longer periods and that brought the charge up to full and it stayed there. Since then I haven't made any special effort to expose the watch face to light (sun or electric), just the exposure it gets through normal everyday use, and it has stayed fully charged. I've been really happy with the atomic timekeeping as well. The instructions go to great lengths to explain how you need to position the watch a certain way on a window sill at night so that the watch can receive the time keeping radio signals. It sounded like it was going to be a real pain since I prefer to sleep with my watch on. So far my watch hasn't missed the signal once even though it stays on my wrist in bed at night. I imagine that results might vary depending on where in the country (or world) you live and what the surrounding terrain is like. I live in the northeast US and in pretty hilly terrain but so far, no problems with reception. Other than those specifics, I like the overall look and function of the watch. I was concerned the numbers might be a little small but so far that has been fine. Figuring out the controls was not difficult. I did read the instruction manual to find out about some of the specific functions but overall I just played with the buttons a little bit and most of it is pretty intuitive. I've only had the watch for a few weeks so I can't speak toward it's long term durability but it definitely seems very well constructed and I look forward to many years of service. It looks like the band is relatively easy to replace should the need arise. Overall I think it is a great watch. If you are looking for something that is functional and durable, I highly recommend the G-Shock GW6900-1!

Amazing Watch!
To preface this review, I'm young and want to give a bare bones, basic review which I hope helps people in deciding which watch to buy! I bought this watch on 7/26/2024 This is gonna sound like every other 5 star review of this watch but there are many for a reason. This watch is amazing. Prior to owning this watch I had worn a couple cheap digital watches who always broke on me after only a couple months of work outside. I would have to buy a new 20 dollar watch every other month and that cost added up. After a while I found out about G-Shock through a friend and began looking at their models. This one caught my attention due to its design and features which I'll go more into depth on soon. The many positives of this watch. 1- It's. Solar. Powered. I thought that tech only came in calculators! I cannot stress enough how useful this feature has been to me since it's basically a baterry-less watch, not having the hassle of changing a battery every year or so like with other watches. The watch arrived to me at medium charge but with just a day in the sun it went up to high and has stayed at that ever since. Casio rates its battery at around 7 months with no sunlight if at high but, if for whatever reason you were stuck in a pitch black cave, there's a way to double that metric! 2- It has a power save feature! The watch comes with a built in "Power-Save" feature which makes the watch turn its display off when in darkness for long periods of time. This is useful since at night, with no charging sources, the watch can metaphorically rest and save more charge for the next day or keep a steady power reserve if you are in a place that doesn't get as much sunlight as other places in the world! 3- Multi-Band 6 Arguably the best feature of this watch is "Multi-Band 6". What does it do? Well, it allows the watch to connect to an atomic clock every single night (if you are within range of the 5 around the world, 1 located in the United States, 1 in Germany, 1 in the UK, 1 in China and 2 in Japan) which makes this watch a true set it and forget it piece. When it arrived it had not yet recieved a signal but, after turning on the feature, that very night it recieved a radio signal which set it to the second. Since then it has never missed a day of syncing which has allowed me to have accurate timekeeping at all times, a live saver for assignment due dates (you'll thank your lucky stars your watch is accurate to the second when submitting an assignment at 11:59 PM) and many other things. 4- General Construction and Legibility This watch is very comfortable, I have never had issues with the stock strap or the case itself, in fact, the strap's integrated ventilation gaps (the 2 raised portions at either end of the case where the strap begins) are actually very useful to keep the watch cool when outside in very hot climate. The watch is also, of course, very robust. It has handled months of sweat from workouts, the occasional bash against concrete walls, pool swimming and showering, etc. If anything the watch is a bit overkill for the average person, I have proper scratched it by accident against a rough concrete wall and only a minor scratch on the bezel appeared. It's the real deal. As for legibility, it's great! My eyes are young and yet to deal with the perils that come with small digital displays but as of now it is a very usable display. The numbers are slightly bigger than on other G-Shock models I've seen and are big enough to quickly glance at without squinting. The backlight is also great! It can be set to 1 or 3 seconds but I have mine set at 3. Very useful when you wake up randomly and want to check the time without fully getting your phone. All in all, for a regular guy, this watch is amazing. It's money well spent and it has done well so far in my 5 months of ownership. I doubt it will ever let me down and I will make sure to provide updates as the months go by, do yourself a favor and buy this watch, I could not recommend it enough.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Great Watch
Ha Ha Ha for the simply reason that the watch never reached High Charge. Or did it? Bought a second one to see if had same problem. It did! Several nice responses from other buyers about how to charge. But started to think about the little circle with the charging info. Seemed with the lighted area only going to medium that it was not charging. So called Casio and got tech support. They looked at everything and said, no, it's the dark area that indicates the level. So the watch actually was fully charged and never went down. It just looked like it was only to medium because that part was the lighter color. Makes sense when realizing this particular face is also available black with white numerals. And the instructions have to cover both faces. Makes the charging info a little vague, but once understood much more clear. So many others who have had the same issue of not charging past medium may be looking at a gauge that is a little backwards. So here is the original rating of 5 starts. Great watch. Researched for a watch that would work for 24 hour time down to seconds for recording ARRL emergency communications. Solar so it's charged and not having to worry about batteries for quite awhile. Atomic time so it's accurate. Alarms, down and up timing. Not looking for a big macho watch which at 41mm it's low key for a watch like this. Dull black. Name and function nomenclature in grey. Sturdy. Waterproof. Tough. G-Shock having a history with military and law enforcement. Not a huge price tag as it might get lost or given away in an emergency situation. And rather handsome. And the size can work for male or female personnel. It's a cop watch. Or deployment watch. Could be issued. Low key, it still says someone with a mission. Some may want to put a Nato band on it. That works too. Think the issue band is just fine. Everything it needs to be. With just a tiny bit of swagger to it. I'm ex-fire and vet. Rotary. This is a perfect watch for getting things done time.

Intuitively and simply read digital time
I have a Casio AQ-S810W that I bought 15 years ago. A few years ago, a solar power battery was replaced to continue its service, and the quality is stable. This is an analog pointer solar electronic watch that combines traditional pointers with digital display The LCD screen on the dial displays numerical time, date, and other functions I usually check the digital time on the LCD screen during use because it is intuitive, simpler, and more convenient, And the pointer time puts a cognitive burden on me. But this 1.2cm x 0.4cm display screen is too small! It is difficult to quickly see the time during movement and in poor lighting, Moreover, the movement of the pointer obscured the numbers. I think it's time to buy a Casio watch that only shows digital time to replace it! Then I chose this model GW6100-1 Casio watch. It is important that, it is solar-powered. It provides a 2cm x 1cm LED display with digital time and date. The screen size is just right. The clear and transparent LED numbers allow me to see them clearly at a glance.I'm very satisfied with this electronic watch. Due to the continuous supply of energy from the solar energy source, the power can't be used up at all. I turn on almost all the functions to consume some power.:I turned off DST(daylight saving time )and PS(power saving mode); Adjust LT1 (backlight for 1 second) to LT3 (backlight for 3 seconds) Usually when cycling at night, I will turn on A.EL (automatic backlight), Lifting your wrist will automatically trigger backlight illumination without the need for manual buttons; I activated SIG ᵒⁿ (time signal), Let it beep at the o’clock; I have activated 4 ALE (10 second alarms) to remind me of precautions. The new watch shows high battery, No need to bask in the sun to replenish electricity.Made in Thailand . If your arm circumference is 16 cm ,The strap buckle just fits in the 5th hole, It is very comfortable to wear. Then, solar watches also have fatal flaws: outdoor workers are exposed to the sun all day,Overcharging shortens the service life of the machine.

My daily go to watch
After having journeyed into the realm of many expensive watch brands, I came back to Casio for a watch that I could wear and beat up. Prior to this I had a Timex Ironman Shock Solar but it ended up not working right. After sending it back for repair the first time it came back and then broke again, I gave up on Timex and sold it. After using the Casio for a month or two now, I can honestly say that I like this watch better than anything else I own. I wear this more than my Suunto, Rolex, Tag or anything else because of it's durability and ease of use. The watch is also accurate. It syncs up to the Naval clock every evening and I never have to set it. With the press of a button I can also see the time in Asia and with another button press I can see Europe. I do business on three continents so this feature helps me coordinate calls with my colleagues over seas. The watch is light and water resistant to 200 meters, so you could scuba dive with it if you wanted. It has a stainless steel back that is stamped Made in Thailand, along with some other information about the watch (water resistance, model, etc). My main problem with most G-Shocks is that they look like you are going to invade a country as the size is extremely large (think a rubberized Panerai). I have smaller wrists at 7 inches and the watch looks great as it is about 1 and 7/8 inch at it's widest point. The backlight is super effective at lighting up all the registers and letting you glance at the time. It can be accessed by pressing the big black "G" button on the front of the watch. With the watch being solar I am not anticipating any problems with battery life. It has remained on full since I had it. I run and lift with it on about everyday now and it has been to the pool a number of times without any issue. It still looks new. Buttons are easy for my larger fingers to press and setting the time is a breeze versus my chronometer watches (my Aquaracer is next to impossible for me to wind as the crown hurts my fingers). There are multiple functions to the watch including world time, multiple alarms, countdown timer, and stopwatch. The display shows the day, month, date, and time. The band looks like it could easily be changed as there are four screws that hold it on, so I imagine if you wanted to put a NATO strap or something else on, it wouldn't be a problem. To summarize, this is the best watch I now own and I would say it is my favorite. I have even thought about selling my others, as I am just not wearing them anymore. I am not sure I would pull this off with a suit though. Although, it really doesn't matter what others think, I believe you can pull off anything if you have the confidence to back it up.

A few things to keep in mind!!
After thoroughly studying all the Casio watches I decided on this model and it's a nice one. The atomic time and solar battery are great features and definitely worth having!! I also like the fact that two of the subdials let you know the battery charge level as well as which features (hourly time signal, alarm, daylight saving, etc.) are on and which are off. The large subdial ticks off the seconds in groups of ten. Kind of fun to watch. There are a couple of things to keep in mind though so that you are not surprised when you open the box. The bluish color of the subdials is actually somewhat darker than shown unless viewed in very bright light and it makes the settings very hard to see. I also think it makes the watch look a bit odd and somehow out of balance. The bluish coloration is ONLY shown on the pics and videos and remember, it's darker than shown!! The blue color is NOT shown on the large main-page view that you see first!! It wasn't a deal-breaker but I was never-the-less disappointed. Another thing to be aware of is that the battery charge level was at medium when I received the watch and it took several days in full sun to fully charge. Also, the time and date screen is somewhat recessed and it makes the display a bit difficult to see unless you are looking straight downward. One last thing: Most of the instruction booklets and sheets are in Spanish. There was one in English though, plus you can convieniently download and save the English instructions on your phone and computer. Over all, it's a real nice watch. None of the negative things I mentioned were enough for me to want to return it, although that deep blue coloration of the subdials made me think about it. Just be aware of what I mentioned so you aren't surprised.

My Favorite G-Shock
My second G-Shock purchase and I've owned 3. My first from circa 1992 that I still own, but the bezel has decayed on it although the watch itself still works great. My 3rd G-Shock is the 5610 square that I refitted with a metal bezel and stainless steel strap. I call this one The Terminator because it's highly polished stainless steel and looks badass. This GW-6900 though is my favorite overall. I don't care for the resin straps Casio supplies with their watches because they're generally uncomfortable on me and tend to be too short. I upgraded the band with black, stainless steel bracelet from jayandkays and added a bullbar to the bezel. It has a nice fit & finish with the jayandkay's upgrade and also looks completely badass. I've surnamed this one, G-Vader because it has a kind of Darth Vader look to it, IMO. If you look carefully at the watch face, you can see all sorts of details in it. The subtle, red outline around the eyes reminds me of TRON. If you've seen the movie and then look closely at the watch, you'll see what I mean. Some of the details are really cool if you look closely at the GW-6900. The watch itself is very good. Tough Solar is a nice feature because you won't have to worry about changing batteries ever for these. I can't comment on the Atomic Time Keeping feature since I'm out of range of the signal tower, but I have no reason to doubt it's functionality and so far, it's kept good time after my manual set. Alarm, timer, world time, signal and stopwatch are thoughtful features, but my favorite aside the Tough Solar is the watch's backlight. The large, easy access button in front activates it, plus you can set it to 1.5 - 3 seconds duration. You also have an auto option for the light to come on when turning your wrist to view the time. It's a cool feature, but I leave it off on my watch because the light can be activated unnecessarily by your hand movements. So yeah! Casio got this one right, in my opinion with it's nice, round face design and the three eyes which actually serve a purpose that give you information about the watch's operations. None of the super advanced features you get with the Mudman/Rangeman series of G-Shocks, but I find this one to have everything I need in a timepiece that's not too bulky on my wrist and comfortable wearing all day long. Purchased my GW-6900-1 from a 3rd party vendor, DB Time. Excellent seller, excellent communications, top shelf customer service and fast, free shipping at an excellent price. I actually bought 3 watches from this seller. My 6900, a 5610 and a Casio Women's, LRW-200H for my wife's Birthday gift last April. Nice watches, great customer service! If you're looking to purchase your first G-Shock, I'd highly recommend this one. It may very well be the last watch you'll ever buy, but sometimes buying these can be the beginning of a fun hobby into watch collecting. Hope this little review has helped someone. End :)
