    Ineffective Toe Sticks

This is dumb. Mysterious package arrives with no instructions to find it only included half of the necessary components. Comes in a cool little tube.

They work and are worth the wait.

Who would ever think that small plastic strips would help alleviate the pain from ingrown toenails? I'm talking almost life changing, since that pain can invade many aspects of life from what shoes you wear, to being nervous around clumsy people for fear of them bumping into your toe, to the throbbing pain that acts up at night when you're trying to sleep. Glue some plastic strips on them and the relief is almost immediate. I'm an impatient person and I want relief yesterday, so I glue on 2 strips. One up close to the part of the nail that's embedded, and another closer to the middle or a little lower, since I want to correct the curvature before it starts to deform. I apologize for the ugliness of my toenails, but I made the mistake of cutting them the wrong way (not straight across), so it will take time for them to grow out. This product is not a kit, it's only the strips. You will need to start with very clean toes, so use an emery board to rough up/file the surface edges/corners where you will apply the glue. They will not stick to shiny toenails. You have to prime your toenails for this. Not the entire nail, just the very ends where the strips will need to adhere. Again, you do NOT glue the whole strip down, just the very far right and left ends. So file, wash with soap and water, allow to dry thoroughly. Then use 91% alcohol to clean any oils off the nails. I guess you could use regular alcohol too but it's really not much more for the 91%. Clean fingertips too since you don't want oils interfering with adhesion. Allow nails to dry a few minutes. Use a super type of glue and put one small iota dot on one corner of the strip (it might be easier to use a toothpick or similar tool to get your small droplet of glue). Put it FIRST on the side that's ingrown. Try to make sure it's parallel to your nail bed line. Hold it in place two minutes. Resist the urge to try and glue both sides down at the same time! After you make sure side 1 is indeed glued and won't pop off, use small scissors (or nail clippers, or cuticle cutters) to cut your strip to the correct length. You don't want it too long or it'll irritate your cuticle. Use the emery board to gently round the sharp edges of the strip so they won't snag on anything. They're easy to file. THEN you can put one tiny drop of glue on the other end of your nail (or strip) and hold it down for 2 minutes. It will seem like FOREVER, but it's worth the wait. The only hard part is the getting the right amount of glue and making sure the strip is lined up right and not 'crooked'. If it pops off, you can just start over. I just flip the strip over and use that clean side. Or sometimes just re-glue it on the spot. After a bit of practice, it's not that hard...it just takes some getting used to. That first day is so cool. You can FEEL it working. It's a weird feeling, but I know when I feel it, that means it's doing its job. If you had someone to help, that probably would be great since not everyone is a yoga master/contortionist. I'd imagine most nail salons would be able to do this sort of thing also. I haven't looked but I'm sure there's videos online that show how to apply these. All I know is I have some relief finally from that throbbing pain. As the nails grow out, I'll probably remove them and attach fresh ones since the nail is changing shape. I didn't get each strip lined up perfectly and one of them I may have cut a little too short, but they don't have to be perfect to work. Practice makes perfect I hope.
