Fight against stress and fatigue with the engineered bounce of SPIRA's WaveSpring technology. For years, athletic and comfort shoe engineers have been trying to create a buffer between the foot and the ground. Spira engineers have developed a solution--an energy return system that actually recycles expended energy back to the wearer. It's called WaveSpring technology and it's found inside every pair of Spira shoes. With every step, energy is stored and then dispersed back to the wearer while providing the ultimate in cushioning. Testing performed by an independent source reported that the WaveSpring has up to a 96% energy return. Running, walking and standing for long periods of time can take a toll on the body, legs and feet. Spira's patented WaveSpring technology helps by taking a great deal of the burden off of the joints. Compared to Spira, regular athletic shoes require the wearer to exert greater effort. Muscles work harder, causing fatigue and increasing the risk of injury. By absorbing a greater amount of the impact of each step, Spira shoes manage to greatly reduce this risk and increase the wearer's enjoyment for the duration of the activity. While most shoes rely on compressive foams, air or gel materials to cushion the feet, the WaveSpring is mechanical and therefore will not lose its extraordinary "new shoe" feel over time. There is no significant cushioning breakdown throughout the life of the shoe. Spira’s WaveSpring technology intuitively reacts to the amount of energy and pressure a wearer exerts, and redistributes energy accordingly. Heel and forefoot spring configurations are engineered for specific activities. Experience the Spira difference and put a real spring in your step!

Best shoes ever!
I love these shoes. I have very bad knees. Probably from my sister and I in our younger, stupider years, seeing who could jump out of the barn loft and land standing. The shoes fit great right out of the box, true to size. I love to run but haven't been able to due to my knees. With these shoes I am once again able to do my daily run with no knee pain/discomfort. I've not had any of the squeeking that others have mentioned. These shoes are truly amazing and do exactly what I want. Very lightweight, and I have no leg/foot fatigue from wearing them. I will definitely be purchasing another pair.

Not the shoe for me!!
I bought these shoes because they had so many good reviews, but I have only worn them once because they are not comfortable. They seem very stiff to me and there is a ridge in the heal of the left shoe that makes it very uncomfortable to walk. I am very disappointed because I need a good walking shoe that makes my walk pain free and enjoyable.

Love these shoes
As other reviewers have mentioned, these shoes do squeak sometimes. A simple shot of WD40 cures that very quickly, however it does return. I find it's worse when just having been outside in the rain.I have used the XLT version of Spira before, and never once had a squeak issue, only with the Stinger 2. That said, I like the Stinger 2 far better than the XLT. (I find the XLT a solid shoe, but perhaps too solid, in that they're very sturdy and don't have much bend. They are also a bit heavier and tighter around the arches.)The toe cage is nice and wide and roomy. I've never had blistering, toe nail issues or sore feet after using these shoes. I've run marathons, halves, and many shorter distance races and these shoes can't be beat. They do wear quickly, which is a shame, but honestly, for me, they feel like I'm wearing slippers - they're so light - that I forgive the fact that they wear. I still love them!

Feet feel great but run small
I have been wearing these for about a month now and so far, so good. They do squeak sometimes when you walk. I work in a doctor's office and I am literally on my feet all day. These are light as air and my feet don't hurt at all by the end of the day. Word to the wise though...they do run small. I have a pair of Spira walking shoes and they're an 8 1/2. I ordered the same in these and had to exchange them for a 9.

A disapointment
I read reviews of these that mentioned squeaking, and I thought, how big of a problem can that be? I'm always on the hunt for relief for my aching, high arched and tired feet. The squeaking is indeed very audible, and not just to me. I wouldn't mind if the shoes had been as energizing as promised. After wearing them almost every day for two or three months, I had to admit to myself that they did not provide any spring back or rebound that I could notice. I didn't get any less tired when wearing them or have any other benefit. They're slightly less comfortable than the major brand walking shoes I typically wear, so after a few months I gave them away. They aren't uncomfortable or badly made, but they don't do what the claims say they do, so to me they weren't worth the very loud constant squeaking.

Very happy with the shoes!
Everyone else's reviews were true to form. I really like the shoes, a lot! I think I have become a fan for life. This was my first pair, which came from a recommendation from my chiropractor who is also a runner. These shoes are very comfortable, really give me the support that I need. I look forward to trying some of the other pairs of shoes. I wear a size 8 shoe normally, so I ordered an eight and a half and that seems to fit perfect. As long as my socks are not too thick. If I was going to be wearing thick socks, I would need to probably order one hole size larger than I would normally wear

Smaller than my other SPIRA shoes
I love the way my 8.5B SPIRA Duck Dynasty shoes fit. They are definitely the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. That being said, the SPIRA Stinger shoes were a big disappointment. Although they were light and the style was cute, the 8.5B runs smaller than the SPIRA Duck Dynasty version. When I tried them on, my toes were touching the tops and sides of the toe box. I am returning them. After paying shipping both ways I'm out $16 and have no SPIRAS.

Best running shoes ever!
Love the Spira Stinger 2 shoes! I have been battling runners knee for awhile after running in Brooks Ravenna for a few months and wanted to go back to a more minimalist shoe, my husband swears by these so I gave them a try. Zero break in, ran 7 miles the first time running in them and they felt great! Highly recommend!
