Unfortunately, my old spatula mysteriously vanished from the kitchen(this might be a future 60-minute unresolved mystery segment), and the Dexter Russell quickly became my new go-to tool. First off, nearly everything about this spatula is fantastic. The stainless steel blade provides just the right amount of flex for maneuvering food in tight spots in pans. The rounded front tip is a big win too—it’s smooth and doesn’t have sharp corners, which makes flipping food much easier and less frustrating. In that sense, it’s a dream to use. However, there is one key flaw that holds this spatula back from being perfect: balance. The well-made handle, while sturdy, is a bit heavy and causes the spatula to tip backward when placed on a flat surface like the grill. This means it doesn’t sit flat on the grill, which can be annoying when you’re trying to leave it in place during cooking or flipping. Final Thoughts The Dexter Russell PS8698 is nearly perfect for anyone looking for a durable, flexible spatula that can handle a variety of cooking tasks. If only it sat flat on the grill, it would be absolutely flawless. Still, it’s a great tool that’s earned its spot as my new primary spatula, just be prepared to adjust it occasionally to keep it steady.
