I've only had this for the weekend so far, but I've been converted. My DasKeyboard (MX Brown), once my baseline for "awesome keyboard" now feels like a drifty, clunky old car with 200,000 miles on it. The feeling of the keys on this keyboard is great. It's basically 87 individual extremely high quality professional grade camera shutter release buttons. The case is artificially weighted and it passes the "twist test" with flying colors. It just sits there and begs you to push its buttons. And the space bar! I'm done with whatever stabilizers "other" keyboards use. I haven't removed any keys yet or really prodded around a whole lot, but the thing is just great right out of the box. I'd buy one for every computer I used if I made Astronaut money, but I don't, which is a shame, because the barrier to entry for this level of quality just seems like an injustice. I pity students who are learning to type on $7 keyboards from the impulse section at the drugstore. I don't' think I'll miss my 10-key pad for most of what I do, and the numpad function built in has a button for "00" which is kindof cool. Very capable keyboard. I've read some other users beef about the thing not working after some time. I'll be sure to come back here and complain if this $200+ keyboard operates in any way other than flawless after any amount of time. Finally, it appears to have good rollover. I can just press as many buttons as I want and they all pop up on the screen at once. I know that USB doesn't support that kind of key rollover natively, so I'm thinking there's a microcontroller in here that translates your keystrokes to something before sending them on their way to your computer, which would explain the additional functions, and upgradeable firmware... and the potential cause for failure - time will tell! Also finally, I like that the letters are dark on a black keyboard, but it would have earned a few more cool-points of the put the characters on the front edge of the keys instead, and left the caps blank. Oh well.

Perfect keyboard, leaps better than MX. But, get the Variable Silent edition of this instead it’s much easier on the fingers and way quieter. The 55g are not comfortable for gaming, your fingers will hurt. Watch the comparison video for the other keyboard.

If you're a mechanical keyboard enthusiast or are just looking for a better keyboard, this is a great choice. I was interested in trying out the Topre "switches" and the price had dropped to ~$190 so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm really happy I chose the 55g weight and the overall feeling of this board reflects a high quality build. The keycaps are PBT (spacebar is ABS plastic) and can be slightly difficult to see (black on dark grey caps), which can be an issue if you don't touch type. If you're interested in keycap customization, Topre boards can be difficult to find aftermarket sets for as the Topre company is the sole manufacturer outside of some enthusiast custom caps (Topre stems are not compatible with Cherry MX). It is possible to change the sliders but once again you will encounter some difficulty finding these sliders. In addition, the cable for this board is very generic and in order to place a custom cable on you must disassemble the case and only some custom cable makers actually make compatible cables (RF requires a special cable). The 55g Topre switch has a large tactile bump that is very brief and has a significant weight to them. It has DIP switches allowing for some layout customization in addition to a Fn activated numperpad on the right side of the alphas. Lastly, it should be noted that there is a full-size RGB Realforce Topre board with MX keycap compatibility being released in late 2016. My general opinion is if you are considering getting this keyboard, you should. If you are understanding of its customization limitations and are just looking for a high quality tenkeyless board that offers a unique typing experience with significant tactile feedback, a heavier weight, and great stock keycaps, this is it. Worst case scenario, these hold their value very well and you can always resell :)

A rave review on the internet caused me to by this product. It is solid, well made and would be a great keyboard for a touch typist, but the letter markings are stupidly in black, the keys almost invisible which is the stupidest design I have ever encountered. Worse than useless,,,must be replaced!

The main reason I am giving this 3 stars is because - The keyboard is far too big for a Ten Key less. It has a huge empty space in the front of it that has no functionality and only displays the logo in the top left. Taking away from the fact that they should be smaller. - The one that I received was not stable meaning that it wobbles when on a flat surface. It does it when the top feet are up and down meaning its the bottom feet that are making it wobble. - Only has 1 actual DIP functionality, switching the caps and control key. the others are merely functionality things such as firmware updater, Super (Windows) key disable, num pad locker. - Last thing I did not like is that the wire is permanently connected. The wire can be routed 3 different ways but can't be disconnected which takes away from its transport ability. The reason I did give it 3 and not 1 or 2 is because the switches are amazing although too heavy for me and the keys are amazing. Honestly I would not recommend this to anyone and would instead recommend the Happy Hacking Keyboard which has all the same functionality but is smaller, has lighter switches, and has 6 DIP switches that actually switch key functions. On top of that is also 20 dollars cheaper.

First of all, let me say, I'm not really a "keyboard geek", and I'm not really much of a gamer, but I do use a computer a lot and I type quite a bit. For example, the length of this review... Anyway, I just wanted a better keyboard, something that worked well for typing, coding, general computer use, that didn't feel like a cheap piece of junk like most keyboards do these days. I have tried and used a few different keyboards; WASD/CODE, KUL, CoolerMaster Novatouch, and now finally this 55g-weighted Topre Realforce 87u. After trying several types of tactile Cherry switches (green, clear, brown) I definitely felt like I was getting a better typing experience than my old Logitech rubber dome keyboard. And I started to feel like a "keyboard geek", comparing browns to blues to greens and so on. Then I tried the CoolerMaster Novatouch TKL. Let me summarize my review of that keyboard in a few sentences: The Topre switches are really awesome to type on, but the function layer is dumb and keys can't be remapped, and by the time you buy a nice set of keys plus the keyboard you could have yourself a real Topre Realforce 87u... And now, I do. So that keyboard went to work, and now at home, I use the Topre 87u at home. Even with nice PBT keycaps, the Novatouch feels cheap by comparison. This keyboard is extremely sturdy, and just feels great to type on. It is absolutely the best keyboard I have ever used, bar none. That said, there are some caveats... 1. The legends are not very readable. If you don't touch type, you probably should get a white keyboard instead... Or learn to touch type. 2. Used with a Mac, you cannot wake your computer up by pressing a key. IF YOU DO, the keyboard will not work, until you sleep the Mac again, or unplug and re-plug the keyboard's USB connector. 3. Replacement keycaps are few and far between (but the stock ones are so good, why bother.) I use the Realforce 87u with a Mac and I simply have trained myself to wake the computer by touching the mouse/trackpad instead of the keyboard. If I forget (which I rarely do these days) I simply unplug/re-plug the keyboard's cable and then I can log in. Even with this "hassle" I am not willing to give up my 87u for the CoolerMaster Novatouch TKL, KUL, WASD/CODE, etc. so that should tell you how good it is.

The curves of a sleek sports car, freshly washed and waxed. A quick shag with the one you love at an unexpected time. All of that is crap. That's not pleasure. That's illusion. Religion has been telling you that for years. But religion is crap too. There is only one way to truly become one with the divine, indivisible essence of universal creation. It is this keyboard. As soon as you settle your fingertips onto the keys, you will know what I am talking about. They have a non-smooth surface and are slightly cupped. Your fingertips touch them and they touch your fingertips back. They don't want to let go. You life a finger - no! it doesn't want to let go. So your finger returns and presses the key. The key glides downward, and the resistance it presents is like nothing you can get from any other keyboard. It is consistent, then it relieves a little, then it catches again, then loosens for that final, satisfying click, which is lighter than you expect, but you can feel it in your soul. It is also quiet, so you can hear the little voices of your fingertips moaning and crying out in pleasure. It is true that the switches are electrocapacitive mechanical / rubber dome hybrids. But they are also small portals into the higher worlds that are layered above the physical. Every time you press a key, you advance the cause of good and enlightenment for all creatures everywhere in the universe. The universe is brought another millimeter forward towards cosmic enlighenment. Do not fail. For yourself, for your ancestors, for all future generations, on this and all other planets, buy this keyboard.

It's built like a tank, It's classy and unassuming. The Realforce logo on the top left reminds me of old and sturdy keyboards like the Model M, the keycaps are a nice and textured dye sub PBT which means the letters will probably never wear out and you can't feel them while using the keyboard. The 55G Electrostatic Capacitive Switches, also known as Topre switches are absolutely remarkable, a step above the 45G Topre HHKB I just upgraded from. The keyboard is remarkably smooth and tactile, It's on a league of it's own when compared to Cherry (and clones). It's great not only for typing, but for gaming as well. Gaming on the Realforce 87u allows for very easy double tapping, as the key bounces back faster than on Cherry MX boards, in addition it's way quieter than Cherry MX boards to make sure it's not as easily picked up by your microphone, and even if it is picked up, the sound is much more pleasant than your standard Cherry MX, It's a deep thock unlike Cherry that sounds plasticy. 6KRO is more than enough for any competitive gamer and should allow for any input you might desire. Just keep in mind, It is not compatible with most Keycaps, as the stems for most Topre keyboards, including this one are different, but the stock keycaps are so good I doubt you'll care that much.

中古を買った私も不注意だったが不良品であった。出展者が悪かったのか、送られて来た RealForce 787B-55はシフトキーが効かない。特に左側が極端にひどく、おもいっきり押さないとキーパッドがキー底に到達しない重さである（とても小指では押せない硬さ）。 シフトキーを押すと底に着く前に何かゴムでも詰まっているかの様に極端に重い現象である。お金をドブに捨てたと思って諦めいたが、東プレさんのサポートに送って見てもらった。東プレさん曰くこの出展者は一度中を空け分解をした後があるキーボードであると、 附属の交換キーパッドも役立たず、他のシリーズから取ったものか、溝が90°方向が違うものが附属され、90°違う方向にしか入らないから、交換も出来ない、笑ってしまう。もう二度と中古には手を出さない、とゆうか出展者のレビューチェックは必須。 東プレさんには大変御世話になった。
