Excellent value for money
This review is for the: Rockjam RockJam RJ361 61 Key Keyboard Piano with Sheet Music Stand Piano Note Sticker Power Supply and Simply Piano Application. My wonderful daughter gave me an Amazon gift card 😍 for fathers day. Knowing I'm extremely difficult to buy for. I decided that having a great deal of time on my hands with Lockdown, I would try and teach myself a new skill. Having had a little experience at School with music lessons, I know I have quite a good ear for music. However, little did I know that my Father's day present 🎁 would be pulled from my very hands by "she who must be obeyed ". After the initial excitement of getting it, and getting me to play some simple tunes I remembered from school, I came down one morning to find her sat in front of the keyboard, headphones 🎧 on, and self teaching herself how to play. Initially just following some guidance on YouTube, she was soon playing some easily identifiable tunes. Bank onto Amazon I purchased a number of various piano 🎹 books for beginners. Also some key stickers to make it easier for her to follow the lessons. Currently, if you purchase the keyboard on Amazon you get 3 months subscription to Skoove (remember to click to add this (free) to your order. I can honestly say, it has been a sheer pleasure to watch the smile 😃 on her face when she masters another tune. She is currently mastering "bohemian rhapsody". I personally believe by Christmas 🎄 she will be playing 🎶 like a natural. Despite this being meant as a Fathers Day gift, seeing the pleasure she gets, is actually a gift in itself. The keyboard is the 61 key version, has a nice LCD display with numerous features like various other instruments and melodies she can select. I am now continually called into the conservatory and asked if I can recognise the tune she is playing. An absolute ideal gift for anyone from a child to adult, giving hours of enjoyment. The Rockjam keyboard seems to get the very best reviews, apart from the keyboards that you would need to spend hundreds of pounds to get. At £49.99 this is an excellent keyboard. Especially if you want to see if you enjoy it before purchasing a much more expensive one. In my opinion it has everything a beginner needs in a keyboard to learn and practice. It would be ideal for, say a child who is taking music lessons at school and needs to practice at home. It has a 3.5 headphones 🎧 jack allowing you to practice without annoying anyone else. In summary an Excellent Father's Day gift 🎁. I hope you found this review useful 👍

Definitely recommend!
This is a great product! My daughter (almost 8) loves it and practices playing piano after all her lessons. Great number of keys (61) and the screen display works perfectly. Thankfully there are 9 sound/volume levels. 1 is perfect when playing. Great option to connect your headphones too so you can practice quietly by yourself. The stand is ok, sometimes the piano books (A4) fall off but the stand may be for a smaller sized document/book. This isn't an issue but happy overall. The keyboard piano also comes with key note stickers to tell you what keys are what which are handy if you are a beginner. Lots of modes and music to play too and can be used to practice lots of styles of music. Size is suitable for a child or adult. Little bit heavy but really a quality product! I did request a new screen display sticker and whom I spoke to at Rock Jam sent it out first class the same day and arrived the next morning. My daughter was so happy. So thank you RockJam. Would definitely recommend this product!!

It’s cheap for a reason but a great first keyboard
Pros and cons: Pros 1. It’s super cheap 2. It comes with stickers for the keys 3. It comes with a music stand 3. It has a power adaptor 4. You can play with headphones and not annoy anyone 5. It has a record function 6. It has tones and beats that can be selected 7. It’s lightweight 8. You can plug in a microphone or MP3 player 9. The keys are say to depress 10. It’s perfect for a beginner to play around on. 11. Super loud speakers 12. For kids just starting or for mucking about on its brilliant 13. The perfect price - if you decide you don’t want to play piano - £40 is not a great loss. Cons : 1. The build quality is garbage (but for the price it’s fair enough) 2. It’s not full size keys (they are pretty narrow) 3. The app is very good but you only get 1 month free - then it’s £85 a year 4. It’s got a horrible lag between selecting a tone and it actually changing 5. The keys aren’t truly silent when pressed, so it’s not noise free with headphones on 6. All the tones are terrible and nearly all of them sound the same 7. The free key stickers are not very good (but better than nothing) 8. When used with batteries they run out in hours so it’s not good value when using batteries 9. The power cable is very, very, very short! You can’t sit far from a wall socket 10. The volume controls are handy but the lowest setting is pretty loud so it’s hard on the ears

(Beginner) Had it 2 days and can play 3 songs already! That's good for me!
OK so I'm 27.. And I'm going through a phase of wanting to learn piano/ keyboard OK :D Saw this cheap and cheerful keyboard on amazon, watched a few videos on YouTube first to see what it was like and read reviews on amazon so I went ahead and clicked buy now! I also had a voucher sooo I had nothing to lose ha. I ordered at about 11pm and the keyboard arrived next day! Love Optimus prime.. I mean amazon prime! OK jokes aside... Yeah its a little a cheap and nasty, but it's £40 people, if you want better than you'll have to pay alot more, but as I am a complete beginner with no experience or know how to read music, this was a good buy for me until I decide I want to upgrade to a better one? Maybe. You can download a free app called Simply Piano and is perfect for beginners! It even listens to you playing to make sure you are playing the correct notes! HOW COOL IS THAT!. Anyway after 2 days playing this thing and already learnt the basics keys/notes to play with my right hand I also now how to play about 3 songs already! I love it! So much that iv even recorded myself playing it and uploaded it to YouTube!. It's a good buy, great for beginners. Thanks for reading.

Glad I purchased it
I've always wanted to learn how to play an instrument and I've always loved the sound of piano but didn't think I was capable to make such beautiful sounds. But thought hey, since we are in lock down, and I've got nothing else to do, I might as well learn a skill. Then at least when someone asks, hey what did you get up to when the world was ending? I can say "Other than watching Netflix, I actually learned to play an instrument and I'm pretty good at it" (I'm working on the last part but they don't need to know that). I wish I got it earlier, would've helped alot with my depression but shoulda, woulda, coulda ey. Anyway.... Set up: I bought it with a stand, and the piano is pretty easy to set up. Theres safety hooks to attatch to the piano, just in case you get a little aggresive with the piano keys I assume. Learning: I downloaded the simply piano app on my iphone, which is super easy to set up an account and when you buy this piano since its partenered with SimplyPiano, you get the whole starter course free full of lessons. I just place my phone on the reading thing and play along. And oh boy, there are so many lessons. I've actually learnt alot, and I'm already reading sheets and playing along with it being just 1 week. So the app is super great, and thank god for it because I don't think I wouldve been able to teach myself, where would I even start. I think using the internet for tips and such, is helpful but trying to learn from it as a beginner. nope. Worth the price? yes. You learn a whole new skill, without ever leaving your damn home. just perfect for lockdown. I was thinking about buying a piano well keyboard for a while. Lemme just tell you, buy it.

Bad sound, good quality overall for being so cheap
Definitely good size and first option for beginners, however the sound quality was horrible on mine, wearing headphones can fix it, but if you wanna show off, there are probably better ones. Overall not a bad purchase considering it is only 50 quid, could be better though.

Great buy
Wife and kids now love the keyboard, bought it to get away from just watching videos on screens passively. We t was a little bit bigger then I expected but the trade off between the better keyboard vs the fewer keys model was defiantly worth it. Great for total beginners just getting used to taping keys trying to get the order right. Having the stickers was such a vital thing in the box it’s huge help to total novices know where the keys are and what the notes look like. Came with the right uk power adaptor as expected. The only negative so far is the default volume at power on is full and always needs volume turning down before doing anything else. The simplypiano off doesn’t seem to do a great deal it seems to be very little off. But it is one of the best apps wife loves it so far and it practicing an hour a day so total winner. Great purchase for total novices but you do need some dedicated space large enough to place it properly, just measure before ordering. We haven’t even looked at the options just leaning the first basics still a few weeks in.

Fun for everyone
The **RockJam Compact 61 Key Keyboard** is a fantastic option for beginners and hobbyists who want a portable, easy-to-use keyboard with all the essential features to get started with learning and playing the piano. Here's my experience with it, including its strengths and a few potential challenges. ### **Design and Build** The **RockJam 61 Key Keyboard** has a **compact and lightweight design**, making it super easy to move around and store when not in use. It doesn’t take up much space, which is perfect if you’re working with a small room or apartment. The **61 keys** are a great starting point for beginners, offering enough range to learn songs and practice basic techniques without feeling overwhelmed. The keyboard comes with a **sheet music stand** that clips easily onto the top, making it convenient to hold sheet music or a tablet if you're using digital resources like piano apps. The design is functional, though not the sturdiest, but it does the job for everyday practice. ### **Piano Note Stickers** One of the things I really appreciated is the inclusion of **piano note stickers**. As a beginner, having the notes labeled on the keys was super helpful for learning scales, chords, and melodies. The stickers are easy to apply and remove without leaving any residue, and they make it much easier to familiarize yourself with the keys and learn how to play songs faster. ### **Power Supply** The keyboard comes with a **power supply**, so there’s no need to worry about constantly buying batteries. However, if you prefer to use it on the go, it also has the option to run on batteries, which adds to its portability. ### **Simply Piano Lessons** The package includes access to the **Simply Piano app**, which is a fantastic bonus for beginners. The app offers guided lessons that are easy to follow and help you get started quickly. The app walks you through everything from learning basic notes to more advanced techniques, and it’s a great supplement to traditional lessons or self-teaching. The integration of lessons with the keyboard made learning much more engaging, and I felt like I was making progress faster with the interactive approach. ### **Sound Quality** For a keyboard in this price range, the **sound quality** is pretty decent. While it obviously won’t compare to a full-size digital piano or a high-end keyboard, the RockJam does a good job of providing a clear, enjoyable sound for practicing. It comes with multiple **instrument voices** and sound effects, which can be fun to experiment with, especially if you're new to keyboards. The keyboard has **built-in speakers**, and the sound output is good enough for home practice. However, if you’re looking for richer sound quality, you may want to connect external speakers or use headphones, which the keyboard supports through its **headphone jack**. ### **Ease of Use** The **interface is simple and user-friendly**. The buttons are clearly labeled, making it easy to switch between different instrument voices, rhythms, and demo songs. There’s no complex menu to navigate, so you can quickly adjust settings or change sounds as you play. This makes it perfect for beginners who just want to focus on learning to play without getting bogged down by overly technical settings. ### **Features** - **Built-in rhythms and demo songs**: The RockJam comes with a variety of **rhythms** and **demo songs** that are great for learning timing and experimenting with different styles of music. - **Recording and playback**: There’s a simple **record and playback function**, which allows you to record your practice sessions and listen to them to assess your progress. - **Headphone jack**: Practicing with headphones is a great feature if you don’t want to disturb others around you, or if you prefer more private practice sessions. ### **Portability** The **compact size** and ability to run on batteries make this keyboard highly portable. If you need to take it to lessons, move it around the house, or even take it outside for a casual practice session, it’s easy to pack up and go. This is a great feature for kids or students who may need to bring their keyboard to school or a friend’s house for lessons. ### **Challenges** - **Key Sensitivity**: One thing to note is that the keys are not **touch-sensitive**, meaning that the volume of the note won’t change depending on how hard or soft you press the keys. For a beginner, this isn’t a huge deal, but as you advance and want to work on dynamics and expressiveness, you may eventually want to upgrade to a keyboard with weighted, touch-sensitive keys. - **Build Quality**: While the keyboard is lightweight and portable, it does feel a little **plasticky**. The keys, while functional, don’t have the same solid feel as higher-end keyboards or pianos. This is to be expected at this price point, but it's something to consider if you're looking for a more durable, professional-feeling instrument. - **Limited Range**: While **61 keys** are plenty for beginners, more advanced players may find the lack of a full **88-key range** limiting. As you progress and start playing more complex pieces, the missing octaves could become an issue. However, for starting out, the 61 keys are perfectly fine. ### **Pros** - **Compact and lightweight**: Easy to move and store, perfect for small spaces. - **Beginner-friendly**: Includes piano note stickers, a music stand, and access to Simply Piano lessons, making it great for beginners. - **Affordable**: Good value for the price, with enough features to get started with learning piano. - **Fun features**: Multiple instrument voices, rhythms, and demo songs make practicing more enjoyable. - **Portability**: Can run on batteries, making it easy to take anywhere. - **Headphone jack**: Allows for quiet practice without disturbing others. ### **Cons** - **Non-weighted keys**: No touch sensitivity, which may limit dynamics for more advanced players. - **Plastic build**: Feels lightweight and not as durable as higher-end keyboards. - **Limited key range**: 61 keys may eventually be limiting for more complex pieces. ### **Final Thoughts** The **RockJam Compact 61 Key Keyboard** is an excellent choice for beginners and casual players looking for an affordable, easy-to-use keyboard. It has all the essential features to get started, including note stickers, online lessons, and multiple sound options to keep things fun and engaging. While it may not be suitable for advanced players due to the lack of touch-sensitive keys and limited range, it’s perfect for those just beginning their musical journey. The compact design and portability make it convenient for home use or on-the-go practice, and overall, it’s a solid value for the price.
