Perfect UF wire tool
If you have ever worked with UF wire then you will truly appreciate this tool. Stripping UF wire is a tedious chore at best, but with this tool and one squeeze, you are done and the outer protective layer is easily slid off. With another squeeze, you can strip the white and black wires. In both cases, the wire can be as long as you choose. Ideal makes excellent tools and this is no exception. I disagree with those who complain that the plastic handles are flimsy...I don’t see them ever breaking with intended use.It is not a cheap tool, andif you are planning on using it only once, then it is probably not worth the $73 price. But, it is such a handy tool that works efficiently and easily, that it surely justifies the price.

Best wire strippers I've used
These work great. I bought them for stripping the sheathing off UF cable, however I found they will strip your conductor wires as well as romex sheathing. No adjustments to be made, just insert your wire and squeeze. Couldn't be easier.Expensive as it's a specialty tool, but saves a lot of time especially for a DIYer.

Pricey but they work
I have to tell you, I winced when I paid for these, but they work like a charm. What used to take me 3 minutes and a lot of work with a utility knife now takes 5 seconds. The cut is clean and fast and I have not nicked an inner conductor or jacket yet. And I appreciate the fact that the design allows me to reach into an outlet box and strip a cable one-handed without putting strain on the cable. They will work on NM also but you need to be a little more careful - on some of the NM I have the outer jacket is thin so these cutters can nick the inner jacket a little (though I have not seen a nick that goes through to copper). I'd advise that you try them on some leftover pieces of whatever NM you are using before doing it for real.

Garbage, seriously garbage. Just open your trash can and throw your money in it.
They came so close to designing a great tool. But failed. If I was willing to buy two of these, Tare them apart and retro fit parts together I could build an amazing stripper. But it wouldn’t be worth the $200 and labor it would take to build it.They were so Damm close at building a good tool. It just sucks they shortcutted it and ended up with a total failure.Seriously don’t wast your time.I have shared a design chage with Ideal, hopefully they implement it

Saves a little time...
Thought this would save a lot of time for using UF 12 & 14. Does not work with 12/14 3 with ground. Works OK with 12/14 2 w ground, but you must get use to the pressure so practice on scrap. Had a couple wires stripped down to the copper and had to redo. Not worth the money.

Makes stripping UF painless
Does an excellent job of stripping UF sheathing and can strip the conductors perfectly as well.

This stripper WORKS on Southwire UF
I've used this type of stripper many times over the years. Usually they're not the best unless they are specifically for the wire your stripping. There's usually a narrow range they work well on. That's not just for electrical wiring these types of strippers have been around for low voltage hookup wire for decades. This specific stripper is for UF cables, underground feeder wire jackets specifically. I don't care about using it for anything else. Every time I use it yes just a little nick in the wire insulation but not enough to matter. I far prefer using this over cutting the ground and ripping the jacket like a ripcord. Its a lot easier than that method and no screw ups.
