Q: Will a quart sized mason jar fit inside?

Dear Customer! The thickness of the wood is about 0.5" all around so it should fit a 3" standing jar. Any taller than 3", it may not fit. Thanks for your question!

Q: Is what is used for the box's wood finish, toxic at all? I am worried it could absorb into the "substance" I will being using it for.

The one I ordered didn't have the dividers, but was also made from bamboo so I assume it's the same as this one. Mine had a smell to it which was probably the smell of the wood itself. I don't think it is toxic, however, I didn't want the smell absorbing into my materials either. So, I put two coats of a clear coat on it, inside and out. This completely eliminated the odor. I can't remember which clear coat I used, but a polycrylic would work. You can get a small can of it at Walmart or almost any hardware store. It's inexpensive.
