cruelty-free, plastic-free and bio sourced
CRUELTY FREE, PLASTIC-FREE (confimed) & bio-sourced. Wonderful company! This product as as good or better than the best laundry pod on the market. I did a large load that had odors and it came out fresh, clean and wonderful smelling! LikeOther reviewers, I suggest 3 pods for a normal load and 4-5 for large or super soiled loads. They are small pods, but powerful.I wanted to be sure the company didnโt use plastic in their โcasingโ surrounding each pod, so I emailed them. They got back to me right away with this:โ The casing (film) on Dropps laundry and dishwasher capsules is made from PVOH (Polyvinyl Alcohol). This isnโt traditional plasticโitโs a water-soluble polymer that dissolves completely during use, so the active ingredients stay off your skin and thereโs no mess. Dropps has thoroughly tested this material for biodegradability and environmental safety, and thereโs no microplastic formation as defined by California state standards. PVOH is also listed in the EPAโs CleanGredients database and meets Safer Choice standards, highlighting its environmental credentials. In addition, all packaging is recyclable paperboard, not plastic, aligning with a commitment to reducing single-use plastics.โGreat companyโฆgreat productโฆ.great for animals, your family and the earth.

Getting better at doing my part without sacrificing quality
I, like many of the previous reviewers, really liked the idea of an environmentally responsible laundry detergent. I would have preferred a sample size as a try-before-you-buy rather than forking over nearly $30 for 140 pods that I may or may not like, but so far I am not disappointed with my purchase.Previous reviewers mentioned that the casing of the pod does not dissolve in cold water. I don't wash in any other temperature so I just did what we do with all the pods we've ever purchased and swished it around in the water by hand before adding clothes. The casing was either not dissolving or dissolving VERY slow. Rather than take a chance due to some of the other reviews, after all the detergent had been released from the capsule I pulled the casing and threw it in the garbage. I'm not happy about trying to be eco-smart and then throwing away something that I'm not totally convinced is going to break down, but I did not want to have the issue others have mentioned where the casing glues to their clothing. The smell is very light and clean, not overpowering or perfumed at all. I found it very pleasant and my clothes kept that scent even after drying with nothing but unscented wool dryer balls (also a first time thing). How effective are these at cleaning your clothes? The clothing I washed in my trial load were: 1 set of cycling bib shorts worn for a 20 mile ride, 1 pair of yoga capris worn for a 4 mile walk, 2 quick-drying athletic shirts worn for the above activities, a pair of underwear, and 2 pairs of socks. I live in southern Florida and it is hot and humid so any physical activity can create a lot of moisture and odor. I washed my load on medium load size, tap cold wash, and used the heavily soiled cycle. I used one laundry pod and, as noted above, dissolved it in the water by hand before adding clothes. When the cycle was complete, I did the smell test. The chamois on my bike shorts and the armpits of my shirts smelled fresh with no lingering odors whatsoever. I am VERY impressed.I have not worn any of my clothes yet so I cannot speak in regard to skin irritations or allergic reactions, but I've known people that couldn't use Tide or they broke out in hives (and had no known allergies prior to this) so I would imagine some people may be sensitive to this as well.So far I am very pleased with my purchase and can't wait to try the dishwasher pods (I still haven't convinced my boyfriend that dishwashers are unnecessary lol).

So far, so good!
We have tried several different kinds of eco friendly pods and so far, these are doing great! No more skin irritation, seems to get stains and odors out of hard working clothes and pet items. Dissolves completely with no residue and the cost seems reasonable

These do a good job
We have four dogs and my husband is a mechanic, so detergents get really tested at our house. I like these pods for several reasons: 1) I have so much less guilt regarding the amount of plastic I throw away (we can't recycle here) as these come in a cardboard container and there is no waste. 2) They don't leak and they don't and stick together. 3) They do a great job cleaning our laundry. That's what I need: a great job. Neither of us has sensitive skin, so I can't comment on that aspect. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is the scent. It's not that it's bad. It's sort of a sharp herbal aroma. I wouldn't say it's unpleasant at all, just not the kind of thing that makes you want to stick your face in your clean sheets and towels and sniff. It doesn't linger after the clothes come out of the dryer, though. There's no residual odor. I can only smell it when I'm unloading them from the washing machine. If having your laundry smell flowery or perfumey is a requirement for you, you might not be happy. Otherwise, I recommend these.

I Wish I'd Found these Sooner!
I have never cared for powered laundry soap, so I've bought liquid soap for years. It's always been the biodegradable kind from either 7th Generation or Ecos. However, those huge plastic bottles - UGH! So now, I have the best of both worlds with Dropps Laundry Detergent Pods. The scent is light and calming. It's true that the smell won't stay on your clothes for days of weeks as seems to be the case with some highly toxic detergents. However, we have a septic tank to consider as well as the overall environment to consider, so not having a lingering smell on my clothes really doesn't concern me. They come out clean and I know I'm doing right by the environment. One pod is usually fine unless I'm doing a fairly large load such as sheets and a blanket, then I drop in two. And not for nothing, but the packaging is simply excellent.

Good detergent, hate the new packaging
I have used Dropps for both laundry and dishes for several years. I have been happy with the product's performance. I also loved the eco-friendly packaging which was actual sturdy cardboard boxes that could be reused for a variety of purposes, and eventually recycled. The new boxes are flimsy paperboard, and not even rectangular. You can't stack anything on top of them, they don't fit well, they are printed in glossy multicolored inks and heaven knows why you would even WANT to reuse them. The old boxes could be shipped without additional packaging. The new ones don't even hold up well inside a secondary shipping box. What was the point of changing a good package?
