Getting better at doing my part without sacrificing quality
I, like many of the previous reviewers, really liked the idea of an environmentally responsible laundry detergent. I would have preferred a sample size as a try-before-you-buy rather than forking over nearly $30 for 140 pods that I may or may not like, but so far I am not disappointed with my purchase. Previous reviewers mentioned that the casing of the pod does not dissolve in cold water. I don't wash in any other temperature so I just did what we do with all the pods we've ever purchased and swished it around in the water by hand before adding clothes. The casing was either not dissolving or dissolving VERY slow. Rather than take a chance due to some of the other reviews, after all the detergent had been released from the capsule I pulled the casing and threw it in the garbage. I'm not happy about trying to be eco-smart and then throwing away something that I'm not totally convinced is going to break down, but I did not want to have the issue others have mentioned where the casing glues to their clothing. The smell is very light and clean, not overpowering or perfumed at all. I found it very pleasant and my clothes kept that scent even after drying with nothing but unscented wool dryer balls (also a first time thing). How effective are these at cleaning your clothes? The clothing I washed in my trial load were: 1 set of cycling bib shorts worn for a 20 mile ride, 1 pair of yoga capris worn for a 4 mile walk, 2 quick-drying athletic shirts worn for the above activities, a pair of underwear, and 2 pairs of socks. I live in southern Florida and it is hot and humid so any physical activity can create a lot of moisture and odor. I washed my load on medium load size, tap cold wash, and used the heavily soiled cycle. I used one laundry pod and, as noted above, dissolved it in the water by hand before adding clothes. When the cycle was complete, I did the smell test. The chamois on my bike shorts and the armpits of my shirts smelled fresh with no lingering odors whatsoever. I am VERY impressed. I have not worn any of my clothes yet so I cannot speak in regard to skin irritations or allergic reactions, but I've known people that couldn't use Tide or they broke out in hives (and had no known allergies prior to this) so I would imagine some people may be sensitive to this as well. So far I am very pleased with my purchase and can't wait to try the dishwasher pods (I still haven't convinced my boyfriend that dishwashers are unnecessary lol).

cruelty-free, plastic-free and bio sourced
CRUELTY FREE, PLASTIC-FREE (confimed) & bio-sourced. Wonderful company! This product as as good or better than the best laundry pod on the market. I did a large load that had odors and it came out fresh, clean and wonderful smelling! Like Other reviewers, I suggest 3 pods for a normal load and 4-5 for large or super soiled loads. They are small pods, but powerful. I wanted to be sure the company didnโt use plastic in their โcasingโ surrounding each pod, so I emailed them. They got back to me right away with this: โ The casing (film) on Dropps laundry and dishwasher capsules is made from PVOH (Polyvinyl Alcohol). This isnโt traditional plasticโitโs a water-soluble polymer that dissolves completely during use, so the active ingredients stay off your skin and thereโs no mess. Dropps has thoroughly tested this material for biodegradability and environmental safety, and thereโs no microplastic formation as defined by California state standards. PVOH is also listed in the EPAโs CleanGredients database and meets Safer Choice standards, highlighting its environmental credentials. In addition, all packaging is recyclable paperboard, not plastic, aligning with a commitment to reducing single-use plastics.โ Great companyโฆgreat productโฆ.great for animals, your family and the earth.

Terrible Scent โImprovementsโ
I really liked these laundry pods when they first came out. They smelled fresh and light. Then, they had to change the scents. Now they smell like a weird cloying chemical factory. Such a shame. They work well.

Dropps Pods
I've been looking into this brand for a while, having a YouTube channel defiantly helps me justify a purchase I'm not 100% sure about. Especially when my family have made up there minds about a product, my house loves Tide Pods. But, I want to find more sustainable options and better practice for my family in our daily lives. All the alternative (let's call them that) products I've tried I've enjoyed but dropps are very different. Aside from the price being a little hard to swallow when you see how big they are (no bigger than my thumb half the size of a tide pod at best) the family wasn't happy with this purchase....at first. My husband is the toughest critic in our house and he opened the first box of dropps I bought, stuck two pods into a particularly heavy load of laundry but he had a stand by pod of another brand all together. Obviously, he was expecting this product to not work given that one of the ads has the founder in a bathtub of the product. But. He was surprised and happy with the results. We use one pod for basically all loads exept blankets and chlorine filled swim suits this summer. I bought this product after we had alot of issues with one of our pets to the point everything had to be washed. This product not only surprised my family with how well it worked but surpassed the expectations. I get the scent free products or as little scents as possible since I have psoriasis and my girls have eczema, dad had very sensitive skin that for years he was only able to use a small handful of products. I'm happy this line has now added to the products we can use as a family, and I'm happy to report we have now purchased 3 times. Big plus because I can compost the packaging according to there website.

Stains and Odors Build Up Over Time
The short review: I've been using Dropps laundry detergent for 8 months and have found that over time my clothes don't smell clean and some stains just don't come out as well. Will buy something else when I use up what I have. The long review: When I decided to switch from the liquid detergent I'd been happily using for decades due to environmental concerns, I chose Dropps based on the excellent reviews on various websites. For reference, we are a household of 2 retirees who rarely get clothes actually dirty, but we live in Florida so sweat is an almost daily fact of life. I used 1 pod of Dropps for regular loads, and only used 2 for extra large or extra dirty loads. Recently, after using Dropps for about 8 months, I noticed several of my t-shirts have an odor around the collar (where I sweat the most). Then I noticed my sheets weren't as clean, with sweat stains remaining where I sleep. I also had to wash my grandson's shirt after he spilled a strawberry drink on it and it took 2 washings to get it clean even though I used 2 pods - when I know the liquid detergent used to get it out on the first wash. It's possible using 2 pods with every wash would fix my odor and stain issues, but that makes this product too expensive and I'm still not confident it would help. When I use up my current supply I will try something else. I just think Dropps doesn't do quite a good enough job of cleaning and over time it becomes more apparent.
