July 4, 2008 was a landmark night at the DTE Energy Music Centre in the 41-year touring career of Detroit's own Ted Nugent, as he performed his 6,000th show to a raucous hometown crowd. For the 20,000+ that attended, this show was an affirmation that a Ted Nugent show is not just a show...it is a celebration. A celebration of life, a celebration of Motor City rock n' roll and, on this night, a celebration of over 40 years of touring to all corners of the earth.

ted does it well. but 2011 is best tour in decades
This one is typical live ted, he has a tight band and does most of the singing. Which on some songs he should leave to his backing band. and that's what he wisely is doing on his latest tour! it's his best tour in decades as derek st. holmes the original vocalist on so many classic ted discs is back! and on this one he's back too, but strangely he doesn't sing as many songs as he does live now. Hopefully we get a live one the 2011 tour because it's incredible. ANd even 'need you bad' is sung by the bassist. Ted does the songs he sung on cd though and that's fine. But throughout the years I always thought that the songs he didn't sing on cd he shouldn't sing live. BUt even when he does it's still a great live cd and you get two cd's of ted here in a arena setting. I saw him in a smaller venue, he even played aspen, co! this year. I thought he could have done the filmore again, but I guess that's not going to happen. He at least should hit red rocks someday if even as a opening act. It's the worlds best concert venue probably. ANyways DON"t miss his current tour! and if you like ted you'll love this one live. It's got the hits and more.

The Great White Buffalo is on the Rampage!
Uncle Ted's 6000th concert is as good as it gets. Ted is as great as I've ever seen him, and he and his band play with such energy, confidence, defiance and style that they've placed themselves into a world class of their own. Every single aspect of this CD is perfect. At 63 years old, the Nuge rocks out better than all the mega-name performers who are a fraction of his age. You can feel the heart and soul that he puts into every song. You're not just getting some kick-ass music, you're getting the spirit of America in each lyric, delivered by a guy who unapologetically speaks his mind. The only way to top this CD is to get the Blue-Ray DVD of this same show. It is stunning. The Great White Buffalo is on the rampage! Wacko-liberals, run! Real Americans, enjoy!

guitar hero.....
Uncle Ted may not be everyones's cup of tea with his views etc but there can be no one in any doubt as to his class as a rock god,his mastery of the guitar on full view on this release.Essentially a self organised celebration of his own greatness this is potentially one of the discs of the year ,this year, next year indeed any year, from the 'gonzo' intro we are treated to five classics one after the other with motor city' and wango tango particularly stunning, its great to see a 'heritage ' artist playing with such fire and passion as to breathe new life into his back catalogue, the pace slows marginally with a couple of tracks from the 'Weekend Warriors' album namely the title track and 'need you so bad' before throwing in the the excellent title track from his last disc ' love grenade', Disc 1 concludes with the bluesy honky tonk- fantastic stuff. And so to disc 2 ,the obligatory classic 'wang dang.... sets a ferocious pace before settling into celebratory mode with ' bo diddely/ baby please dont go etc where ted celebrates his roots,We then head for home with my favourite moment when Derek st holmes steps up to the mike and we're treated to hey baby/cat scratch fever and a gargantuan stranglehold finally an extended Fred bear concludes the show, how good is this disc? well,i believe it tops the celebrated ' double live gonzo' and thats some achievement,he may not always deliver in the studio but 'live' he a dead cert, here's to the next 40 years ha ha.
