Martin Furniture Mission Pasadena Mobile File Cabinet

Bought this item based on the positive reviews. Bad idea. The cabinet arrived in the timely manner for which Amazon has come to be known, however, the pros end there. Two major issues that the buyer should be aware of. 1) The unit is glued, which means, at least in my case, the sides and the top are not neatly flush and overall looks like amateur construction. 2) Applying the casters is no easy feat. The holes are not pre-drilled and unless you have professional tools and some skill, I recommend not attempting to attach them. Perhaps that's why the unit comes with the following warning: "Please exercise caution when installing these casters. This cabinet has the greater stability without the use of them. By installing these casters, the buyer assumes the risk for any and all resulting damages." Say what?!!! One of the primary reasons I bought this unit was because of the advertised mobility. It seems to me, the warning should be made clear in advance of purchase. Another reason I chose this item is that the color shown in the picture is the same color of the mission desk I already own; however, the color of the unit I received is between dark cherry and dark walnut. I definitely would not recommend this item.

If you install the casters per the predrilled holes, the casters will not rotate.

I was a bit worried about ordering this file cabinet but was pleasantly surprised at the high-quality build of the unit. I bought this because it looked like it would match well with a bedroom set I bought from a high-end store. It matches perfectly and if I didn't know, I'm not sure if I would even be able to tell them apart. To top it off, the packaging was the best I've seen. All the corners were reinforced and even had a mini-pallet attached to the heavy duty box to protect the bottom.

The cabinet looks just fine, but the file cabinet can barely hold 11 inch papers. If the papers are in an envelope, it won't fit. They could have had it a half inch wider and things would have fit just fine. Maybe they didn't "real world" test it.

I had big hopes for this cabinet based on the reviews. And I will say the materials used to make this pile of junk is top notch. It was just put together by someone who apparently couldn't put together a dog house without screwing it up. There is lifted veneer with hardened glue under it. The drawers were cut ridiculously smaller than the openings they go into, and when they're closed the entire cabinet is so far out of square there's almost 3/4 of an inch space between the drawer and the cabinet at the top left, and the same at the lower right. It looks like something from friggin' Pee Wee's Playhouse. I am reserving judgement for now about the actual manufacturer, and assume that whatever Asian company Kathy Ireland uses for their assembly occassionally has people working for them who show up drunk for work. That's the only thing that might explain someone sending this piece of crap out the door and giving it their stamp of approval. By the way if you think the grain on this wood like like it does in the picture ... like quarter sawn mission you're in for another surprise.

This file is the perfect height for use as an end table beside couch or chair. It is a well-made piece of furniture-the drawers open easily and close securely....even with the file drawer FULL! It is finished on all sides, and arrived ready to use...no assembly required. One small plastic piece (to hold a divider in the top drawer) was missing, but after an email it was promptly mailed.

Love the style of the Martin Furniture Mission Pasadena Office Furniture. Ordered 1 mobile file cabinet along with a 4 piece desk set and 2 bookcases. The first file cabinet arrived damaged, vendor sent another. The second was damaged. Vendor refunded my money. They were fantastic. Not sure if shipping boxes were dropped. The outside of the boxes were not damaged. Either way I give up. Hate not having this piece to complete my office. This furniture is shipped directly from Martin Furniture. Other pieces were damaged as well. I feel sorry for the vendors selling this stuff.
