Comfortable, sturdy, but not entirely necessary (for me.)
The Galco Ankle Glove Calf Strap complements the Galco Ankle holsters. I got it for the Galco Ankle Lite ankle holster which I use to carry an extremely small and light 380 pistol. That being the case, the extra support is not required in my particular case. The firearm is so light that the ankle holster alone is sufficient to secure the weapon to the ankle. This is not to say that the calf strap is of bad quality, or unnecessary in all conditions. For me, most of the time, I don't feel it is required, though I still use it. For a larger or heavier firearm, I would imagine the calf strap to be an indispensable addition to the ankle holster. If you are unsure, and intend to carry something very small and light, try the ankle holster alone for a while, and see if you find extra support to be necessary. It is made in the USA, so quality and craftsmanship are not of concern. I use it, but I could live without it if I had to. If I were carrying something more substantial, it would be a must-buy.

IT'S LIKE INSURANCE, YOU DON'T NEED IT UNTIL YOU NEED IT.
I was so pleased that I purchased the Galco Ankle Glove Calf Strap. It's easy to put on and easy to take off, it just snaps onto the ankle glove holster, and you never have to remove it from the holster. After I put on the Galco Holster glove the calf strap just takes a few seconds to put on. You might ask did I really need the calf strap. I never tested the the Galco Ankle Glove Holster by itself, but I honestly think as tight as it fits around my ankle I doubt that it would fall off. I don't drive my car without insurance, I don't ride my bike without a helment, I have health and home insurance, so if someone offers me insurance for $19. 00 and change that insures me that my loaded m27 Glock is not going to fall off my ankle in the middle of following my wife around in the grocery store. Yes the Ankle Glove fits tight, but stranger things have happened. GET THE GALCO CALF STRAP, when you do you will wonder why you ever thought about not getting it. $20.00 for peace of mind not bad at all.

Must have for heavier weapons
This is made of the same fabric and Velcro as the Ankle Glove Holster that is supplements. The vertical strap that connects to the Ankle Glove holster is sewn to the wider fabric that goes around the upper calf area. It has ample Velcro and length to go through the strap on the Ankle Glove and adjust to most leg lengths. The Velcro holds strong and secure. The calf band has a minimal stretch and is of sufficient length to go around all but the biggest calves. Placed correctly on the upper leg and firmly adjusted to hold the Ankle Glove, it will keep the weapon from pulling the Ankle Glove down. I suspect this would not be a necessary item for a weapon under 10 ounces but that is a personal comfort choice. This is a must-have with the Ankle Glove for active carriers, those who wear boots (I don't) and those with heavier weapons. Like the Ankle Glove, you will need to experiment for the most comfortable placement for you. This should be done before you wear it out in public for any length of time.

Small design changes would make so much better.
Could easily be much better.I find the loop fabric that is backed in the neoprene foam is irritating on my skin. It has the hook fabric sewn right at the end of the piece that will be inside. It would have been very easy to leave 1/2" of neoprene material, so there is not a sharp point that digs into your leg. However, a much better solution would be to have the neoprene fabric inside and loop fabric outside, so the hook that you don't cover up wouldn't catch your pants.I'm ordering loop backed neoprene fabric to sew my own version that works. It will also take into account that the leg under the knee isn't a cylinder shape, but a cone. However, allowing for that would require more fabric.I'm currently wearing this with a piece of thin fleece tucked under the sharp point that otherwise digs into the back of my leg. If the fastener and overlapping was on the front of the leg, instead of the back, it would also be in a region that doesn't move as much when the calf muscle flexes.

Outstanding!
This handy dandy strap goes around your leg and attaches to your Galco ankle holster.Normally I don't need this, as I wear boots, and they do a fine job of keeping my ankle rig off my foot. There are times, however, where I'm wearing tennis shoes or sissy dress shoes, and that's when this calf strap gets called into service. It is comfortable and keeps the ankle holster from sliding down.Kinda hard to say more about it than that. Some folks dismiss ankle carry, and for good reason: It's slow out of the holster, it prints if you aren't the correct body type or not wearing the correct clothes, and it makes running not-fun.While these are valid points, the alternative is...what? If you carry all the time, you need a variety of carry methods and a variety of holsters...or you need to wear a jacket when it's 110 degrees outside and hope people really are that stupid. Or, you only carry when conditions are perfect for the perfect concealment clothing.HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Good quality
This item has held up well to daily use. It is a little large for small calves. The velcro could be a little longer adding to more diverse sizing and better grip.

I would buy the cheaper no name
I had a cheap no name one for 5 years I can't say this one is any better, velcro is already worn out.

Love/Hate relationship
I have a love/hate with this strap. I carried for a week or so with no calf strap and decided to try this. Most of the amazon reviews on this are spot on. Without the strap my ankle glove seems to always slide down eventually and the gun does wiggle around as you walk even with it as tight as possible. With the strap this is eliminated 100% I'd say, but the strap is so uncomfortable. The top strap that goes around your calf is a super rough texture on the inside and rubs your skin raw. I might have my local shoe repair shoe stitch some neoprene or something better for the skin side. My leg is fairly thin so I do have to keep it super tight to support but then it really digs in. Is it worth the money, I guess. Its not 100% needed but would be nice to have if your planning a lot of walking or possibly jogging/running. (Using with the Galco ankle glove with a S&W 340PD)
