Worked well for 2 years. Then the green screen of death on my TIVO Bolt. Turns out I should have used a hard drive rated for DVRs that uses CMR technology, not SMR which is what the Toshiba drive uses. So I increased the rating.

No Instagram selfies with the caption “#HardDriveLife.” It’s not glamorous. It’s not thrilling. But you know what? It works. You plug it in, and it spins. It spins at a breakneck 5400RPM, which sounds impressive until you realize that’s basically a grandma in a rocking chair compared to SSDs. But hey, if you’re not trying to launch a rocket or edit a Marvel movie, this thing gets the job done just fine. It holds a full terabyte of whatever digital clutter you treasure—photos you’ll never look at, videos you’ll never delete, and probably 38 copies of the same file named “Final_Final_V2_Revised_REALFINAL.doc.” And that 8MB cache? Toshiba 1TB 5400RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb: it was packaged in an padded envelope and was in an antistatic bag. As the circuit board is exposed, I always unwrap and put it into the PC on an antistatic mat. All I can say is it worked.

Drive failed after about 1 month of use in a UCK G2 Plus Cloud Key. It is the exact same drive as the one that comes with the Cloud Key G2 Plus which failed less than a year after deployment. These drives seem fragile and don't survive in a Unifi Protect environment. For Cloud Key backups backups only it would probably be fine.

Works exactly as intended. I think it's a good value for the price.

I did some research and these drives hold up very well in the field. Only reason for lower price is the 5400 rpms which is more than adequate for archival and storage purposes as well a video transcoding on older systems.
