This Pretty Planet

I bought this for my daughter who is expecting a baby. She and her brother grew up listening to Tom Chapin on cassette tape. We even saw him in concert. He's great. I wish I could find the DVD too. I know there's one out there because we used to get the VHS tape from the library. I'll just have to keep checking Amazon! Great songs though!

Great message for children in lots of fun songs

We really enjoyed Tom's Moonboat CD, so I purchased a couple more for the kids (2 and 5 yrs) for Christmas. I was very disappointed in the content of this CD. We listened to a little more than half before the kids and I lost interest and turned it off. Every song is about "Green" subjects, which gets old after the 2nd song. The songs are not as creative and playful as his other work. We also bought the Family Tree CD, which is wonderful, and contains a better version of the "Pretty Planet" song. I recommend purchasing Family Tree or Moonboat over this CD, unless you're a teacher looking for music about environmental issues.

My 5 yr old loves this cd! He sings along with Tom. The songs are great. What a terrific, fun way for children to learn that we need to all work together to take care of our planet and to appreciate it's beauty.

I have nearly all of Tom's CDs and love all of them. This one though is special in terms of teaching my five year old daughter about environmentalism. She absolutely loves it and it gives us a great deal of material to talk about! I've already bought 5 extra copies and given them away as presents and everyone we've given them to has loved them. I am about to get a bunch more and give them as gifts to the kindergarten teachers and others as birthday party giveaways.

THIS PRETTY PLANET is the best set of environmental songs I have ever heard and read (lyrics). There are songs for all ages and even those for kids are fun for adults. The major theme of good stewardship is excellent and inspiring. The recycling song is wonderful and kids also dig good garbage. The lyrics are clever. The vocals are great. And the instrumental arrangements are varied and excellent. I write this as a professional ecologist and educator of K-seniors.

We originally found/heard Tom Chapin on the kids station of our satelite radio through our TV. We were able to find copies of his CD's at our local library and fell in love w/the songs. This CD is great b/c it teaches our kids the importance of taking care of the Earth. Recycling is an important task we're teaching our children and his cd, This Pretty Planet, does a great job of encouraging them to do just that!

I grew up listening to Tom Chapin's childrens music.Now my kids will get to enjoy it too!
