I have 2 sharks and a few stingrays in mine **Q: Do i have to have a different pump to make it saltwater** A: you use both the pump that comes with the pool and a saltwater pump that you have to purchase or acquire separately. the water goes through the pool pump first and then into the saltwater pump then back into the pool. The pool pump has to be on when the saltwater system is on. The saltwater system has a timer on it. You set the timer to run so many hours depending on the size of your pool. A 15' by 42" pool, the saltwater should be set for 3hours, usually after the sun sets so the chlorine will stay in the water longer. The saltwater pump will come on everyday at the same time. It only needs reset if for some reason it gets shut off.When the saltwater pump is not making chlorine the water simply flows through it and into the pool. My saltwater pump lasted about 9 years and it left the water crystal clear. Had to put 100 pounds of pool salt in at beginning of each season. Make sure the pool pump has been running about 1 day before setting the timer on saltwater pump. I always ran the pool pump 24/7. No problem with pool pump either. Just change filters about every few weeks. **Q: Does it come with the hoses for the pump? We chose this one & so glad we did because it was a good find. First thing, dont get rushed & not buy sand. Its essential for ANY size pool. Place tarp on top of sand. Okay, by my self I unpacked it, did sand & tarp. I could have dont set up by myself but recruited the hubby which made ease of set up so much quicker. Total project time 2 hours with sand leveling. 1 hour just pool. Its well made and no missing items. Directions are clear & simple. Bought 2 XL floats and it was perfect for floating and relaxing. Functions for us perfectly, no steps needed, small pump, small area to clean. We got the pool to chill with other adults. It would good for younger kids or teens to just cool down on hot days. This pool setup is not big enough for grown people to swim but the cooling effect is awesome during heat wave. We used pump included and ran it on 10 hour cycle daily. Water clarity was perfect with pump & floating chlorine tablets container. Overall, best to set up with 2 for smoother set up. Recommend for families with younger kids or adults who just like to float.
