I measured it - the bulb is just over 4 5/8" long.

Is it daylight or soft white??

So far as I'm aware, halogen bulbs don't come in "daylight or soft white" - they are similar to the now-discontinued regular (tungsten) bulbs in that they create a warm, rather than neutral, light.

where do you buy a floor lamp that will use these 500 watt halogen bulbs?

The lamp I have was purchased yeas years ago. I do not know where to purchase this type of lamp today.
