Hiviz did a nice job with this bead. I’m not completely sure that this is the right front sight for me, but I am going to give it a solid trial run. I do think part of my “good days and bad days” issue is related to eye dominance, and this should help with that. It’s an inexpensive, well made, easy to install and use front bead. It could be a little brighter in dim light.

This sight is not for hunting in low light, it's for shooting clays. It's not super bright because you are supposed to gocus on the clay, not the bead. Its purpose is to help your brain focus on the eye that is in-line with the barrel since it is the only eye that will see the bead as you mount the shotgun. As you concentrate on the clay, the bead will be glowing in your peripheral vision just bright enough for your brain to choose the correct eye to pay attention to. Biggest benefit is when running mounting drills. HiViz makes a version of this sight for hunting that is much brighter in low light and very different in design. Haven't had issues with the bead coming out with target loads. If you're going to hunt with it, I suggest getting the version intended for hunting. For clays, this sight works beautifully.

Personal opinion: This gimmick fiber optic site isn't worth it. I've been using a HIVIZ CompSight® Bead Replacement Front Sight (PM1002) on my shotgun for some time, and it works great (read on!). I recommend it. I'm an amateur, and improving my consistency is a goal. I read about this HIVIZ Magni-Comp Bead Replacement Front Sight (MGC2006) and the explanation that its "Magni-Optics feature forces you to focus with the proper eye down the axis of the shotgun bead for consistent alignment . That sounds wonderful. So I bought the sight and replaced my previous sight. The problems I experienced (leading me to go back to my previous HIVIZ sight) are that at a glance the on-axis dot isn't easily distinguishable, and by the time your eye senses and aligns with the "Magni-Optics" lens, you've taken your eye off the target and missed the shot. HIVIZ makes great products. This one fails on functionality.

I have trouble with my eye dominance switching from left to right. This sight does help you recognize which eye is dominant, but due to it's short length, it does not work well for shooting at first light. There is also a lot of leverage between the screw and the other end of the sight, and the sight has been knocked off alignment a time or two. I have used a competitor's sight which is more like 5" long and it works well at first light. I just didn't want to bond that sight to my new gun. I wish this sight was much longer and included a clip on the far end to go over the barrel rib to maintain alignment.

Overall, this sight is really nice. As a new shotgun shooter, I am having trouble keeping both eyes open and knowing how to point the gun. The magni-comp takes the guesswork right out of it. However, I bought this for a new Stoeger M3500. None of the included screws would fit the threads on my gun. I had to spend another 5 bucks and countless hours searching around for a M2.6 threaded screw.
