Basic Coastal Navigation: An Introduction to Piloting for Sail and Power

Great resource for home/self study and learning
I'm taking a 'self-study' class for Coastal Navigation from my local sailing club. Frank Larkin's book is the perfect complement reference work for that course. Personally, I'd like to see more practical problems. The resources in the back of the book are great; however, in this day, I would expect to be able to download the log example, worksheets and practice charts from the web (and not have to photo-copy them).Overall, a great resource.

Very informative for all experience levels.
I have a 100 ton near coastal license and work on the water all 12 months. I read this book and thought is was to the point and very informative. I would definitely recommend it.

Out of date book, Not worth any more
The book is out of date, no photos (Black / Color). Too many useless info. Any newly book with color photos is better than it. I bought two of them. I like to donate the book I bought.

A most for sailors
Navigation can be complicated. This book simplifies it. It is very thorough and teaches you what you need to know to navigate coastal waters. It's not my favorite sailing book, but it has taught me a lot. The price is also very reasonable.Highly recommended!

Great book!
This is a superior and easy to use and understand coastal navigation training book. Far superior to any ASA course book on navigation. Highly recommended for all beginning navigators.
