Warercolor Paper 7.68 x 5.31 Inches

BE AWARE that these pads come pre glued on all sides with a small unglued spot to separate pages after painting!! It’s like being PRE TAPED. GENIUS!! When I first opened the pad I was disappointed and couldn’t figure out why all four sides were glued together. I even went back to look at reviews that showed issues with the same thing. Thinking it was defective, I started to submit a return. The company must have this issue regularly as they have a note that says something like, “before returning see this link”. In the link it explains that the pad is purposefully glued on four sides with an opening to slip a credit card like item in between pages when ready to remove your finished painting. NOTE TO COMPANY - please attach a note with each pad explaining this so customers don’t think their pad is defective! The paper is nice and thick and the pre glued pages make it PERFECT for painting anywhere, especially traveling! I took mine on a cruise and enjoyed painting out on my balcony with no buckling issues or blowing paper!! After I finished a painting I removed the page with a credit card easy the page free and then began with a fresh new page!!

I really like these Paul Rubens watercolor paper blocks, with the pink cover. The paper is excellent quality 140 lb cotton hot press watercolor paper. I'm guessing it is made by Baohong. The cover is just beautiful, which I find motivating, and I don't have any problems knowing how to remove each sheet of paper -- there's a little unglued edge right in the middle of the top of the paper block, next to the spine of the cover. You just slip a letter opener or butter knife or palette knife in that opening, below the top page, and then carefully slice through all the "glued" edges (they aren't really glued, but that's what they are called). The price is extremely reasonable for the quality! I am a repeat purchaser, and I hope the company doesn't stop selling these.

Love these watercolor blocks! Look at the dark blue in this painting that the paper took and makes the flower POP! It took a bit of layering too and keeps the flat.

I bought mine a while ago but still love it. It is not a journal, no idea why someone would assume that when it says “watercolor block” on the listing. It’s meant to be glued in. Just because it has an elastic strap and “looks like a journal” doesn’t mean that it is. Each page is stuck together at the edges to keep the paper from bowing while in use from the watercolors, separable by inserting a blunt thin object into the exposed gap and carefully sliding it around the sides to break the seal so you can work on the next page. I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of this paper, it’s better than most and arguably closer to Arches in my opinion. Now color does still lift but it takes a bit for that to happen. And the thickness of each page is as expected, rather fair and rigid like I prefer.

It's a watercolor paper block and a pretty good one. It is NOT a sketchbook to flip through pages, that's not how blocks work. And believe it or not, you have to take off the first piece of paper that is protecting the ones you're gonna want to use. You do not need to "stretch" or tape down your work, which is very handy. Just open and go. Paper quality is excellent. Hot-pressed, cotton paper at this size WITH a leather cover for $20 or so is a steal. It holds a lot of water without breaking down. If you are into watercolor at all and want a quality product for a minimal price, why haven't you bought it yet?? The pink leather cover is the icing on the cake for me. Well done, very recommended.

I have used many brands of watercolor paper for my pieces and few have surprised me like this one. I take a lot of time to complete a painting and some paper brands are not compatible with lengthy periods of painting, which I’ve always found frustrating because the stuff is not cheap. One sheet of this paper can withstand weeks worth of work with watercolor and gouache and that is no exaggeration. The only caution I’d give is if you’re using tape on it to be very careful when peeling it off as it does tear easily. I wish this block came in bigger sizes as I’d probably only use that from here on out. It’s beginner friendly, pro-friendly, budget-friendly and it does not demand you speed up your process.

I love the block. However, when I received it, the strap to hold it closed was cut and hanging by a thread. I put a piece of electrical tape to secure it together so it is usable. Other than that it is fine. Using a block is great for watercolors as it keeps the paint from bubbling up and causing an uneven finished result.

El papel es satinado 100% algodón. Esta encolado de los 4 lados dejando solo un huequito para separar las hojas(2da foto). La presentación es adorable. Tiene detalles en dorado y la pasta forrada de imitación cuero. El papel aguantó bastante bien el agua. Seguramente lo volvere a adquirir.

J'aurais aimé savoir que le papier était noir! In my mind the paper was white and it was a surprise to see a black paper!

El paquete venía en excelentes condiciones, pero parece que el pegamento del bloc venía ya dañado. Fuera de eso es un excelente papel, tengo mucho mayor control sobre la pintura, no se esparce tanto como en papel poroso. La textura es divina, súper suave y aún así muy absorbente para la cantidad de agua que quieras.

Muy bonito sketchbook, pero odié el hecho que estuvieran las hojas pegadas y haya que sacar una por una sin poder ponerlas de regreso en el sketchbook.
