If you've ever used J-hook's bolted to your luggage rack you probably understand that it puts the kayak in a bad position for cross winds. When hauling two kayaks you're going to have to use the hooks but if you're hauling a solo kayak using these pads and tying it directly is a much better option. I use two straps around the luggage rack as well as front and rear ties and it is rock solid. I used to cringe every time a 18-wheeler would pass me or a heavy cross breeze would be happening because you could hear the rack creaking and feel the kayak shifting around when they were up on hooks. By keeping the profile low and keeping it down, it handles the wind much better. ** I also do not notice any wind noise when driving with these without hauling a load. * My old J-hooks were too tall for the garage anyway so it saves me a lot of time Not bolting and unbolting J-hooks to my luggage rack all the time. * These appear to be very well made and they fit well to the factory Subaru Forester crossbars on the luggage rack. * The 28-in small are a perfect fit for the factory Subaru Forester racks.

The rack pads fit my Thule wingbar evo well, are easy to put on and off, and work well for transporting kayak.

My old kayak pads didn’t fit my new roof rack. These seem to fit the bill. The Velcro is a bit hard to position fully but the pads ain’t going anywhere. Hard to pull apart. I’ll know better when I get back to using the kayak after winter but these pads look to be a better fit and sturdier.

I had ordered a couple of different brands of crossbar pads in the past based on reviews and recommendations to questions I had to asked of manufacturersand consumers. none of the pads were large enough to fit the stock crossbars on a Nissan Xterra. Because of some sort of design flaw any load that was long enough to cover the whole roof resulted in the weight of the load being carried by the plastic compartment built in to the front of the Nissan Xterra roof rack. I bought the pads to eliminate this problem. Your product works perfectly. I can now tie down wood kayaks whatever without the load being carried by plastic compartment in front of the crossbars. You should put in your ad that it works on a Nissan Xterra. I only wish I had bought the 25 in wide ones so I could carry my canoe also.

Um meine SUP's auf dem Dachträger zu transportieren, habe ich mir diese Polster gekauft. Ich benutze sie an Original Audi Dachträgern, die einen ovalen Querschnitt haben. Die Polster sind mit dem Klettverschluss schnell und sicher an den Trägern zu befestigen und halten bombenfest. Das SUP liegt gut gepolster auf dem Träger und so wird Beschädigungen vorgebeugt. Von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung. Noch ein Tipp: Es gibt diese Polster in verschiedenen Breiten, also vorher die Breite des SUP's messen.
