SE 10x Illuminated Sliding Magnifier - MM987

First, this is not just a toy. It's a wonderful magnifying glass. The light works well and the magnification is very clear. It is incredibly affordable and very tiny, which is perfect for daily carry or for being tucked away close by. The sliding aspect is helpful for avoiding smudges on the glass, and you can choose to extend it completely to utilize the LED, or just one smooth click from fully extended for use with natural light.I use it at least 20 times per day. The magnification is powerful enough to see the pores on your fingertips, but not too powerful that you can't make out the big picture of what you're looking at. Great for analyzing handwriting, reading barely visible print, inspecting bugs and such, and investigating the story of an object [ie., fine marks, particles on the object, etc., that tell you what an object has been near], which is what I use it for.No need to spend ridiculous sums of money for a, "professional quality," magnifier. This $5 item is fantastic.

The light on this magnifying glass works exceptionally well with the magnification. When using this item, the additional light enables you to see well in low lighting areas. I use it to view small areas on pins even at dusk under limited lighting conditions and can see fine. I think the magnification aspect is sufficient to read very small writing that I never could have read under an inexpensive magnifying glass even though the price of this item is not high. Overall, I think the price is fair, the product is excellent and, under most conditions, a buyer would be satisfied with the benefits of using this product.

I find this tiny light to be a handy thing to keep in my purse for times when I need to read a label or a map or some such thing. I don't think of it as a toy, however, so I am puzzled that for review purposes it seems to be classified as one. It seems to be a quality instrument although made from plastic.

I bought this because I've been buying some very complex watches and I can't read some of the items on the watches. I'm 69 years old. This device was inexpensive and made it very easy to see the items on the watch. Both the glass and the light worked very well for me to see what I was looking at. Since it does not weigh very much I can carry it.My one complaint is that I haven't a clue as to how to open the device to replace the batteries!! There was nothing in the box and part of the outside of the box had something stuck on it. Nor does the box mention the kind of battery, although it does mention it here.

EDIT - Noticed that the lens has noticeable "waves" in it (sorry don't know how else to describe it). You can see the imperfections/distortions and it definitely gets in the way of examining things clearly. I would have rated this lower had I noticed.End Edit.I wish I had been paying attention, then I would have realized how small it was before buying it. I'm giving it a 5 because it does what it states quite well. Cool feature: It slides out all the way (2 click detents), you get the light. Slide it out to one click detent and no light. That's great! You can save the battery if you don't need the light.Very small magnification window, though. Again, not a negative, I wasn't paying attention. Just be aware of that.

The light placement is just right, it illuminates whatever I'm looking at, and the magnification is nice and clear. It's compact and easy to use.

I found that while this product works well and clearly illuminates the object being magnified.However, the LED light this product emits is extremely bright and due to the fact you view it through a magnifying glass a lot of the light ends up reflected into your eye and quickly caused my eyes to become sore. Being in my twenties I doubt it would be healthy or beneficial for anyone to use this regularly.I currently use this product as a flashlight.

this is something that can help you around tight spaces. it's way smaller that it seems, which in my case was even better...you may want it for gardening or hobbies. if you want a reading magnifying glass or a naturalist kind of tool, go get something larger.

Bought this magnifier for my 90 year old Mother. Is easy to use and small so that she can put it in her purse.No instructions as to how to change battery...but when that time comes we will dismantle it and hope for the best?!Delivery took three weeks via snail mail......
