Find leaks in hot tub
This dye is fluorescent so it works best at night with a black light flashlight as it glows in the dark. Not harmful to pump or circulation. It soon dissipates after time.

NO! Not for large in-ground pools
NOT FOR INGROUND POOLS! We read the directions, added the product as directed and then watched as our entire pool turned purple. No way to find a leak. I think you would have to have a large tear that was sucking water hard for this stuff to work. Itās been 6 days now, the pool water is still a dark pink color, and even though it is a pretty color, it is not how you want your pool water to look. Weāve back-washed and rinsed, shocked and used clarifier. Some product did get on the cement pool skirt and it did wash off, so for one star Iāll give them the part where they say it is non-staining.

Very visible, but not so UV reactive
The dyes looks great! In the sunlight it seems particularly noticeable. However, doing side by side comparisons between a flashlight and a UV flashlight, shone into a 1:12,000 dilution, doesn't yield any noticeable difference in visibility.I tried using this to find leaks in my hot tub, by adding a cup or a few to the full tub, and hoping that it would stain the foam insulation where it leaked. Even though the water looked quite red in the tub, neither the red nor any UV fluorescence was noticeable in leaked fluid. Perhaps with much, much higher dye concentration this plan could work. Still trying to dig out foam and find the leaks :/

well see
Probably works well for designed application, i work in oil & gas industry. tried to use it to see when the water "pill" i pumped from surface down the well (17,000' x 2 //down & back up) to surface again. used 1-cup to treat 2-barrels (84-gallons) water was too dark to see red/pink with naked eye & i didn't have a black light at the time. I will try it again now that i do. product itself under black light glows like dry erase markers on black light board, vibrant. also stained my hands for about 3 days so it sticks well.

The Color: Redder Than My Embarrassment When I Realized the Leak Was My Fault š“š³
When they say āred water tracing,ā they mean RED. This isnāt a subtle little pink tintāthis is full-on crime scene levels of red. The first time I used it, I thought I had accidentally summoned a horror movie in my sink. But hey, at least I knew exactly where the leak was!

Definitely visible
Not sure what the other reviews are talking about, this product is easy to view in daylight and looks pretty cool. Works great, will update later on the removal process. My pool is about 10k gallons and I used two red solo cups worth of product instead of the entire gallon to track water flow and check for leaks.
