## Questions & Answers

**Q: Reglueing a glass bulb to metal stand for outside led light. is it watertight and can i separate them in the future to replace battery?**
A: It should be watertight yes, depending on the application. As far as separation later on is concerned, it may be possible but only if the entire thing can be submerged in acetone. The acetone will dissolve the glue, but could also damage other parts of the stand and or light.Hot glue might be better for this application as it should also be water tight and can be removed quite easily with 91% ISO which should not damage any of the other materials in the light/LED/stand.

**Q: Sole heels on my sketcher dress shoes separated from the shoe (both man made). Tried shoe goo but separated again 1st wearing, will this work ?**
A: My shoe repair guy uses CA glue to re-attach heels, so this should work. CA tends to work well where the forces are compressive and not shear. Any of the GOOP products or E6000 should also work. They are synthetic rubber based glues so they have some flex to them and they provide really strong bonds. I have used GOOP to reattach pieces of a rubber sole that were starting to peel away on some running shoes. It worked great.

**Q: Looking to glue adhesive backed velcro to a tape measure that has a rubber type protective cover. Will this adhesive work?**
A: Best ask the manufacturer or try hard as nails 3000

**Q: Is this good for metal 28mm miniatures? Does it hold better if the model is dropped then the BTS standard CA products?**
A: I used it on a hard plastic ice crusher cap - and the vibration caused it to come apart. Not good for vibration. However - it does make a good bond. I prefer the E6000 Hard as Nails Medium Viscosity - however - be sure to wipe off the extra with a cloth - possibly dipped in alcohol before it dries. Super-glue type adhesives don't work well with vibration - which is what this IC-2000 is.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great on leather
*by J***B on January 11, 2022*

Used this to repair a + $200 pair of hiking boots. The boots have a non-removable plastic heel counter inside, so where the stitching on the heel unexpectedly and prematurely failed, one month past the end of the boot warranty, there was no way to repair by restitching. Tried a couple of other adhesives I've used for years such as E6000, Mast contact cement made for leather repair. Both held for a few weeks and then let go. This is on a boot, so whatever adhesive is used it has to be flexible. I've used cyanoacrylates for years but this is my first time to use a rubber-toughened one. There are actually 4 varieties of cyanoacrylate chemistry, including $35/1/4 ounce ampules used in surgery. I don't know what variety this stuff is, but by the way it handles, playing around with a few drops on various odds and ends in the shop, it appears this is much better than the cheap stuff you find in your local discount store. After I scraped all the old stuff out, I applied the rubber-strengthened cyanoacrylate, used several rounds of electrical tape stretched hard around the boot to hold the pieces together, and waited a full 24 hours. Weeks later it is still holding. I use adhesives professionally, and know from experience there is no way to know how long any cyanoacrylate has been sitting on a shelf since manufacture. You might get a month of use before it sets or 6 months. In the humid climate of the Deep South, I always store an opened bottle in the smallest sealed container that will hold it and a desiccant packet, and have sometimes gotten up to a year of use of of a bottle before it sets up. Hopefully this stuff will follow the same pattern. It's not cheap, but if I gave the boots another 6 months of life well worth it. Edit: 7 months later boot repair still good. I have hiked at least 100 miles since then, been caving in those boots. This stuff is amazing as long as you give it plenty of time to reach full cure. Edit 2 - It's now been a full year since the repair. The past 3 months, I have used these boots very aggressively while clearing timber, hike in them twice a week. the repair is still as good as ever. Edit 3 - September 2023. The sole has started coming off my boots, but the adhesive repair is still good. Edit 4 - January 2024. It's been 2 full years since my boot repair. The soles on the boots are now so worn there is no tread left, and I only use them for work in the shop they are so slick on the bottom. The adhesive repair is still holding up, looks like it did the day I fixed them 2 years ago. I've never seen anything bond to leather like this. I have done a lot of repairs with this adhesive since I bought it. Keeping it in an old pickle jar with a desiccant pack I have finally run out of the original bottle, but that is about as long as I have ever gotten from a cyanoacrylate bottle. Based on other repairs I have done there is less flex to this material than I originally thought, but it seems enough to be helpful on a variety of repairs. Some cyanoacrylates have methyl methacrylate (plexiglass) as a stabilizer, and this stuff acts in a similar manner. The rubber additive imparts a toughness I have not experienced in other cyanoacrylates, making it far less brittle. I use this a lot, but it has not worked on anything as well as the few leather repairs.
