Memories!
I watched this show during my military time. My young son and I met for dinner at the EM Club. Came home, Got in PJ's and sat on couch to watch JR do his thing! This went on for 4-5 years. He's now 47 years old and he laughed when I told him I got the set. He will be here in June!

very good movie, but very bad recording
Unfortunately, very good movie, but very bad recording, almost every cd get stuck in the midle of the movie. I was thinking to keep.this movie for ever, but I do not needed like that. Therefore I have to return it back.

Outstanding set worthy of owning!
I purchased this set on an Amazon Gold Box deal in the fall of 2012. Coincidentally, I bought it shortly before Larry Hagman (J.R. Ewing) passed away. I grew up with this TV series. In fact, it was the first such series that I actually watched religiously with the entire family. We were glued to our TV sets every Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. local time, tuned to CBS for the latest installment of this epic television drama. My review need not focus on the series or the many plots or the iconic characters like J.R. et. al.Anyone considering purchasing this set need only be concerned about how this set is put together, and on that I can say it's a good job, especially considering that the series began in the 1970s, meaning that many of the episodes were at a time when video quality wasn't anywhere near what it is today. To that I say, "Big deal." While it would be great if all of these were remastered Blue-Ray DVDs (here's hoping they one day will be, but I doubt it), they're still great anyway. Sure, there might be some of the earlier episodes that aren't quite as high grade as the latter years' episodes (particularly in sound quality--listen to the iconic opening theme of the show in later years; there's a remarkable difference), but that's to be expected. For those who are watching the "reboot" of the series on TNT, this set is a great way to familiarize or "re-familiarize" you with the history of the main characters and even the minor and other characters to whom will never be alluded in this TNT reboot (who can forget Jeremy Wendell of Westar Oil, for example). One suggestion--keep an eye on this set to see if it goes on sale, which it occasionally does. Even a hundred bucks off would be a good deal. Regardless, you can't go wrong purchasing this set.

Best gift to myself EVER!!!!
This entire set made me realize that I had missed so many series and 85% of the time kept me at the edge of my seat! I'm pretty good at guessing what will come next, but many times I was thrown with my mouth wide open or my eyes big as saucers!! So much fun to see crazy story lines, fashion & hair do changes with the times, and off set adventures. It was also very interesting to see how the Southfork Ranch scenery matured, how the first sets matured so that they were more realistic, etc. I loved the variety of characters that were brought into the mix and in some cases were sad to see them go. I absolutely loved the glamour and towards the end (most recent) prior to the 2012 series, how ugly Sue Ellen's hair dos were so unflattering! The commentaries were also good to see to get a more well rounded view of what the directors were trying to achieve. If you note on the credits with each series, some of the main actors also had hand at directing as well! To see Barbara Eden join with Larry Hagman again from their old "I dream of Jeannie" days was fun to watch. Hagman was a REAL looker in those days, but my favorites throughout were Bobbie Ewing and Sue Ellen Ewing as characters as I was rooting for them the most. There were times that I truly was looking forward to J.R. getting knocked down on his ear as he was so evil. Such fun! There were times that I started to see a likeable vulnerable side to Cliff Barnes too, (as his character was so chaotic)! If you go to [...], you'll also get great bios and character summaries (with great pics) to complete the whole storyline! You won't be sorry to get the Seasons 1-14 as well as the Movie collection as if you're not careful, you'll become a REAL COUCH POTATO until it is completed! I plan on watching it again someday down the road!

The Completely Used collection
Often times when I read reviews from people whose product was damaged I think to myself suck it up, Amazon will replace it don't place a negative review because of that. Then it happened to me. My NEW set of DVDs arrived on Friday, and because I am the worst at keeping Christmas gifts, I handed them to my wife on Saturday. On a cold Saturday we started to watch our collection.Opened season 1/2 to discover a large scratch in the DVD thus making episodes 3 to 6 unplayable. I found it odd that a sealed DVD would already be damaged. I then discovered that the series was not in the correct play order, and there were some large thumb prints on the discs. I opened several more sealed packages only to discover scratched and presumably unplayable DVDs.I feel slighted that Amazon obviously repackaged DVDs that were sent back to them in a return. The morale of my story if you did buy for a holiday gift check the DVD quality sooner than later.**** Update 12/4 ****New DVDs were received this time the entire set was packaged together with a UPC scan on the seal. Additionally each DVD set was also individually sealed. It looks like the complete set should be sealed together with some sort of tracking code, versus each DVD "re"sealed and shipped.

Problem with some disks...
Almost 1/2 the disks had scratches on them. Most of them played okay. But more than several episodes wouldn't even run...they stopped playing. I even bought a new dvd player, thinking it was my player and still had problems. It's terrible spending so much money on something that is so frustrating to watch.
