A Simple, Sturdy Can Opener That Just Keeps Working
We already own one of these and reached for a second because I tried another brand and consider this the best. It's a favorite among reviewers, and after years of use here, I understand why. This is our second one of these, and I bought it because the first has never given us a reason to look elsewhere. It shows up on plenty of test kitchen and reviewer lists as one of the best manual openers out there, and after years of using ours, that reputation matches what we've actually experienced at home. The gears turn smooth from the first crank to the last, and the rubberized handles give a solid grip whether your hands are dry or a little wet from rinsing a can first. The blade is carbon steel and still cuts clean after years of regular use in our kitchen. Nothing about it feels flimsy or like it's going to strip out after a few years of everyday cooking. The cut is always clean, which is important for safety. It's made in America, which matters to us, and it shows in the build. This isn't a gadget with extra features you'll never use. It's a can opener that does the one job it's built for and does it well, crank after crank, year after year. We even take it along on some vacation trips. It's portable enough and when we do leave it home, we often regret it! Having a second one now means we're covered if one ever wears out, though ours hasn't shown any signs of needing replacement yet. For something this simple, that kind of reliability is exactly what you want. Value Rating: Turns True. A can opener that's held up for years without a single complaint, which is about the highest praise a simple kitchen tool can earn. Bottom Line: A well-built, made in America can opener that's proven itself in our kitchen for years and earned a second one as backup. ~Thomas Tried and True

High Quality, High Value, Made in USA
The quality and workmanship are high. The opener clasps the can perfectly each time, breaking the seal of the can, and allowing the large crank to be turned with ease. The large crank size allows you to open a can with less effort than most openers on the market. It may not be sold at boutique stores or have flashy, useless features, but it just may be the best can opener on the market. See the photos of the EZ-DUZ-IT and the "World's Best Can Opener" sold on Amazon side-by-side (I bought both). The "World's Best" sells for almost twice the price. Don't be tricked, buy the EZ-DUZ-IT 3028 instead.

O-M-G!
I do not have much use for can openers and that is why I was willing to put up with my quirky electric can opener. I couldn't find a replacement electric that had great reviews and looked as nice on the counter. I considered a handheld for a long time, but was hesitant, because I was afraid that I would not be strong enough to use it. I have back issues that the slightest little pressure can sometimes cause a world of hurt and also dealing with a hand that I had crushed most of the bone in that healed well, but can be acutely painful at times. I'm also a lefty, uncoordinated as all get out and was not sure if this would work for me. Previous experience years ago with those little skinny ones with a butterfly turn knob had been a disaster. The low price and all the positive reviews convinced me to order the EZ-DUZ-IT Deluxe Can OPener with Black Grips. I am so glad that I did. This piece is a piece that is built to last, an all too rare commodity nowadays. It is a weighty piece without being cumbersome. It fits well even into my small "fun size" hands. It takes little effort to complete the job. I am thoroughly impressed with this can opener. I received the can opener after having a flare up with my hand. Although I was not experiencing the acute pain I had, my hand was still fragile and sore. I was able to open a can with minimal additional discomfort. I do not believe that any other can opener would have produced any better result. I definitely know that it was less effort and pain than using the electric can opener I had. I was so impressed with the EZ-DUZ-IT after the first test use that I immediately unplugged my electric & chucked it in the trash. I have the EZ-DUZ-IT for awhile, but only used it a handful of times. It washes up well by hand or in the dishwasher. There have been a few occasions where I had to cease cooking and get off my feet right away, which led to the EZ-DUZ-IT not being cleaned by hand right away and that was okay. Everything stays really clean. More so than with the electrics. It is a breeze to clean. I threw it in the dishwasher to see how the metals would react and if it would hamper the ease in which it performed. Happy to say it still works brill! I would have no hesitation to throw in the dishwasher, but there really isn't any need, as this cuts smoothly and cleanly. I can highly recommend this to any and all, but especially to those who may suffer from arthritis or limited mobility/dexterity in their hands. This is as good as you are going to get. I can say in all honesty that the EZ-DUZ-IT would still be my number 1 pick over a not so quirky electric opener. This may seem silly to many of you reading, but for those with less than perfect health it makes sense.... you don't even have to lift the can up! Yes, sometimes even lifting an average size tin can send someone in a world of hurt. With the electric you have to lift your can and gosh forbid if it is a family size can of anything, which can be plain awkward no matter what your health is. With the EZ-DUZ-IT I see no need for an electric, unless you are going to be opening copious amounts of cans all at one time. I couldn't be more thrilled. Plan on purchasing more for gifts and my emergency kit... I never want to be without my EZ-DUZ-IT!

Ahh! Finally
I spent two years using a piece of junk can opener that was rated very well and cost a few dollars. The jaws never held onto the can and it was very frustrating. I finally had enough and I took a chance on this American made product even though it was more expensive. It grips the can excellently, and the long lever makes it very easy to open the can in one action. I love it. Very happy I took the risk.

Yup, it WORKS!
i just got it literally 15 minutes ago my time and used it to open a can of peas, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of diced carrots and a 16 oz can of tuna...i'm making tuna ala king...it went through the cans like a hot knife through butter. the primary reason i decided to get this was that in the last 3 years, i just realized this, i've spent nearly a hundred dollars on just can openers. can you believe that??? nearly one hundred dollars on stupid can openers that some didn't even make it half way through a can of chicken noodle soup and others that just wore out over a couple of weeks to a couple of months...and NONE of them cost over $10 but every single one was made in the People's Republic of You Know Where. i got fed up with it and decided to "buy once, cry once" with this one by EZ-DUZ-IT. now to the INITIAL review... CONS; It is not "ergo-dynamic". which is just another marketing ploy to add a buck to the price. It is not compact. it's a full sized can opener, not a Swiss Army knife. It is not outfitted in florals, pastels or vibrant colors. put down the Martha Stewart's magazine and nobody gets hurt. PROS; It is really easy to use. like i said earlier, it went through four cans, three 12oz's and one 16oz, like a hot knife through butter. the grip was secure, the rotating handle was EXTREMELY easy to use and i do have the beginnings of arthritis in both hands along with cubital tunal syndrome in my left arm and peripheral neuropathy in both arms. It's not dainty. it's built like a tank and if anything in your kitchen should survive a house fire, earthquake, wild fire, nuke strike, asteroid impact or mostly peaceful protest it should be your can opener. It's "full constructed" as in, the handle "legs" go all the way down and don't just end in a 1/8th or 1/4th inch tab glued into a plastic handle. so this this ends my initial review. i'll be posting a 30 day, 90 day six month and 1 year follow up but as it stands right now, if you are in need of a truly decent quality can opener that will work and not give you the fits over a can of condensed milk then get this one. oh, here's a few FYI's... 1. even though the description says that you can was with warm soapy water, DON'T and NEVER put ANY manual can opener into a dish washer. the best thing to do is to carefully, so as to not injure yourself, wipe down the can opener's contact and cutting surfaces with a clean dry cloth or dish towel. don't use oil. this can cause gumming and interfere with positive contact and lock-up with the can and the can opener. 2. 99.999% of the gunk that gets onto and into your can opener comes from the can. simple solution is to just wipe the can's top with a clean cloth or napkin. if you think that you need to use soap and water or cleaning wipes or sprays on your cans of food, you need to find a new grocery store. 3. don't just throw your can opener into a drawer. remember that this is a CUTTING INSTRUMENT. your $300 chef knife is a cutting instrument, albeit designed to cut different things differently, but it's purpose is to cut. so make a dedicated space/place/spot for it. back when i was a child, there used to be kitchen drawer inserts and these had slots for knives, forks, tablespoons, teaspoons and one wide spot that was too short for knives and forks and too short for spoons. that was because it was the can opener's place. thanks for taking the time to read my review and i hope the information i gave helps.

Old-school is best. With reservations.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS Crude packaging not befitting of the product. Scratches on the chromed steel. Is this a used product? Sort of reminds me of a company lost in time (the past). Cardboard that the can opener sat on was frayed a bit at the edges. Seems to look as if it belongs in a small old hardware store from a bygone era. Maybe it does. It feels reassuringly heavy. MADE IN USA is proudly written in the thick chromed steel. But that's just the first impression... USAGE IMPRESSIONS Heft. Comparison? Culinare Magican Auto. 136g (4.79 ounces). EZ-DUZ-IT: 288 grams (10.15 oz). Over double the weight. Plenty of chromed steel. Opening a can? I had a few seconds of "I wonder how I do this" because I have been so used to the non-angled teeth of the Culinare Magican Auto; the EZ-DUZ-IT has an angled bit that looked different. The brief "how do I do this?" period passes and a few seconds later I am slicing through my first can. Bottom-line: I have never had an easier can-opening experience in my entire life. Even though I am coming from the absolute junk that is the Culinare Magican Auto, which has had a terrible time cutting through cans and ejecting for ages now...even though I am coming from this...I can't remember a single can opener that I have used that has made it this effortless. I am in love. For the record, the Culinare Magican Auto was bought locally for around double the price I paid for the EZ-DUZ-IT. It is completely impotent with its aged teeth (despite being young) and its ejecting of the lid could best be described as a painful exercise. The wide easy-opening handles of the EZ-DUZ-IT ejects lids effortlessly. It can't be this simple can it? Oh yes it can (pun perhaps intended). Along the path of progress, surely mankind has gone backwards at some point, I think to myself. This is how it's supposed to be done. Why has it taken so long for me to experience this? IF IT LASTS If it lasts, this deserves 5 stars. I think it's a huge disservice to the company not to improve the packaging; the marketing is poor. They should be sending the device out with no scratches or slight imperfections in the chrome too. But that might be picky. The price was a fair bit less than my extremely poor Culinare Magican Auto. Given this context, there's really nothing to complain about. At can-opening, I can't fault it. It surpassed all my expectations. The EZ-DUZ-IT feels like a commercial tool that won't let you down. It's totally alien for me to see something like this in this 'plastic fantastic' world. If you are frustrated with your can opener or simply want to buy one for the first time, I can't recommend this enough.

Made in USA
This can opener is easy to use. Heavy duty and sharp. I was going to order another brand that used to be made in USA and is now made in China. I’m glad I found this can opener made in the USA and works well. I would recommend better than.

Your search ends here...this is the best option in manual can openers money can buy...period.
OK...so yes...it looks basic...does not have a bulbous, cushy turn handle and for the most part looks just like any other crappy can opener that will fail like every single other can opener ever made available on the market...why cause basically thats all that exists right? We've tried them all and every time we buy one it ends up failing sooner or later and usually sooner than later and with absolutely no satisfaction during the term it actually is in service. Fact of the matter is they all operate for 'you know what'....But NO…not this time! If you are reading this review that means your life search for the very best can opener known to man has finally ended...right here and now! This things rocks balls, as hard as a can opener can rock!! From the very moment you begin using this device it oozes satisfaction. For starters its made rock solid......the action on the levering is short and sweet....and the turn handle is long and accurate. From the moment you place it on a can it just falls into place and snaps right down and through the top lid with ease and directness. As you turn the handle it cuts with precision and a smoothness that is unimaginable in any can opener ever to be made. To be honest this is like the holy grail of can openers. And mind you when I use the word 'smoothness' I mean it...i mean this thing is as smooth as silk. As you start to turn through the cut, it slices through the lid metal with total ease and efficiency creating an experience that is not only fast and satisfying but in fact elating! Within seconds, which seemingly puts all other attempts at efficiency by other can opener so far back in the list of considerations, your experience will be mind blowing and you will quickly ponder at how much time you have wasted in life getting through opening all those cans of the past! This is truly the Mac Daddy of all can openers. Every single household should come standard with one of these. It’s totally American and totally right! And for sure why wouldn't it be ...its made in America to begin with. All seriousness on hand...it is the absolute best can opener you'll ever buy! And honestly, if you don't feel that way once yo’ve had a chance to try it out then you probably shouldn't be messing with cans and should probably stick to microwave dinners and cracker jacks. Put those cans away before you hurt yourself and leave the hard work to the men and women who know and appreciate the right kind of kitchen tools we know, need and use for getting the job done right. Efficiency, sleekness, comfort, precision, repeatability and the essence of true professional experience...this can opener has it all...and IS the ALL when it comes to can opening. Now go and get yourself one and be done! Side Note: This is one of those products were if there was a 6th star this product would be getting it.
