Superb monitor, but 4K can be an eyestrain
Arrived quick, great price, setup was effortless, appearance is generally fantastic. But I'm kinda realizing this isn't the perfect desktop monitor for intensive coding/reading/long hours of text viewing. I was used to a 30" 2560x1600 monitor, so small text and tiny icons aren't new to me, but 4K is a little too much detail for a 27" monitor. No slight on the manufacturer, the picture is gorgeous, but I'm forced to squint, move unusually close to the screen, use a lower resolution, or scale my screen - all drawbacks to me. Running it at 1440x2560 now, and it's not bad, but I'm wasting a fine monitor's potential. Maybe in time I'll find the best tweaks for Windows 10, or at least my favorite IDEs, to work well at 4K, but for now I'm thinking 4K is overkill for a desktop monitor. Edit - reducing from five to three stars. Like others have mentioned, I have begun having problems getting my computer output to display when awakening from sleep mode or monitor power save mode. Fiddling with the monitor menu controls won't help, the only answer I can find is to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable. Presumably powering the monitor off and on would work as well, but it has no power switch. While not fatal, this is a serious nuisance. I'll try replacing the cable or finding a hotkey to send PC back to sleep so I can retry, but this is aggravating! Resolved awaken to black screen issue! Under power settings, advanced settings I set PCI Express Link State Power Management to Maximum power savings. The monitor now "wakes up" operational every time. Restored 5 star rating.

Absolutely Stunning
This review is for the 276E8VJSB 27" Monitor, 4K monitor. If it hadn't been for the 4 year advance replacement warranty on these I probably never would have tried them. The name Philips didn't invoke thoughts of quality. I have been in IT for 30+ years and remember Philips way back when and hadn't really heard of them since. After looking over all of the 27" 4K monitors on Amazon I finally ordered a single unit to test. I opened my "test" unit and was shocked to see a DP to DP cable as well as an HDMI cable, both thick and hefty. I attached the DP to DP to my new Dell XPS desktop and was totally blown away with the quality of this monitor. The blacks are black, the whites are white, the colors and saturation spot on. In both HD and UHD the quality of the images and videos were stunning. I ordered a second unit and received it the next day. I connected in to the HDMI on my XPS. Both monitors displayed the exact same colors, brightness and saturation. One might expect that but I can honestly say that I've rarely seen it occur straight out of the box. I would have to say that this set of monitors was just absolutely perfect! They do not have and did not claim to have speakers, but do have an audio out from DP or HDMI transference. IPS with excellent breadth of angular visual consistency. Excellent contrast and brightness. Amazon has a bad policy of grouping reviews for a manufacturer across many product lines. When I read reviews for this monitor I quickly noted that most reviews were for other models. Even those, people talked about sputtering displays and bad pixels. I think most "sputtering" displays are because people were using 4K displays on older computers without active cables, Bad pixels? Hardly even see those on any monitors these days. I'm so glad that I put aside the idea that I thought Philips was probably a Walmart quality monitor and that collectively the reviews on this weren't the best (because, as I said they aren't review of THIS monitor). I'm glad that I put aside these thoughts because after thoroughly testing this monitor I have to say that it is absolutely stunning!

Nice monitor for the price, but designed to annoy.
The monitor is nice and bright. It is also quite clear. Even if you come from better than Full-HD to 4K, you'll like the crispness -- at least once you get used to figuring how to make your fonts bigger. Haven't used all the features, yet. Will enjoy having two computers hooked up side-by-side on the same monitor, when I do. But hey, a 4K monitor for $280, its almost a winner. This monitor is bright and pretty. Of course, one will have to debate whether a 4K TV with some terrible AI installed is what you'd rather have -- those are cheaper for VESA mountable larger screens. It is quite stylish with its non-VESA base. Yet, that is its major problem. It was designed so that you buy this one, and later, when you find you really want it mounted, you buy another. VESA is the standard for mounts that manufactures tend to use if they want to allow their monitors to sell well in the corporate or in-the-know home market. There does not seem to be any lag on how well it shows images. There is no blurring or ghosting with normal office work or simple games. I've not tried it with real games requiring a GPU other than what Intel does on the CPU. There is the nice feature that it warns the user that burn in may occur if the same image is displayed for long periods of time. It actually mentions 30 minutes as the time. It gives that warning almost as soon as it detects a video mode about to cause burn in. Its kind of a disembodied floating text box. I've used it with both Mac OS X and with Pop!_OS. The picture shown is that of a game, Bomber, played on Pop!_OS. If using a Gnome based User Interface, I suggest that you use Backslide with only a five minute change of the background picture to help avoid burn in. When the Pop!_OS login screen shows up for X-Windows it tends to make the monitor go black if there is no user interaction. When using a Macbook Pro, or likely any other modern Mac, you'll need to have a HDMI 2 to Thunderbolt converter. There are a ton of those around. So, if you don't like having a converter, then, you'll likely not want this monitor. If you are anywhere near two meters tall, then, you'll want to have something to raise up the monitor so to keep good posture. Cause, you'll not be happy with the non-adjustable mount for the monitor. At the time of this review, I have used the monitor for about 13 hours. Most of them doing textual work. I bought it just before the next wave of trade-war with China tariffs hit and as it was first offered on Amazon. The following are the features I've not tried yet: 1.) LowBlue 2.) MultiView 3.) DisplayPort 4.) More than one HDMI

Great value for the price; bright and very sharp
I was looking for an affordable 4K monitor and this one is great for the price. Pros: -4K resolution + IPS + 10-bit color from a brand I've at least heard of before AND less than $300--it's the only monitor I know of with all of those -Much brighter plus much more accurate colors than my previous monitor! -Sturdy metal base -The top and side bezels of the monitor are super thin--maybe around 1 cm. The panel itself is quite thin, too -Sound output built in (NOT speakers though--see below) Cons: -Others have pointed out the lack of VESA compatibility but I personally wasn't planning on mounting my monitor anyway. My last monitor also wasn't VESA compatible. Either way, if it's a must-have, look elsewhere. -If you're hoping it has built in speakers, it does not. Like most people, however, I use my own. What it DOES have is an audio *output* port via the HDMI 2 cable, which I actually use. What this means is the audio comes from the HDMI cable that's plugged into your video card, then you use a cable that connects the audio output from your monitor to your speakers. I personally just use an Oontz Angle sound bar speaker, which is more than enough for my needs (and sounds much better than any built in monitor speakers that I've ever heard). Other Thoughts: -4K is probably a little overkill for a 27" screen, but 1) it's a new standard for TV/etc. (as opposed to 1440p) plus I do watch movies and broadcast TV through my monitor, and 2) the main reason I got it was actually for sharp text in large spreadsheets that I put together for work, and this is rocks for that. It's WAYYYY better than my last monitor (a 23" 1080p HP monitor) in that regard! And 3) for things like gaming you can set the resolution to something like 1440p -It's "only" 60 Hz--obviously; the thing is, 1) a 4K monitor pushing, say, 144 Hz is currently hundreds and hundreds of dollars more--literally. And 2) even if the monitor had the capability, virtually no video cards today could push out those types of frame rates at that resolution with today's latest games, so no real point, at least not for a few years. -I have to admit that I myself am not a massive expert who has compared dozens of the latest high-tech monitors. I'm primarily just comparing this to my previous 1080p HP monitor, and this one blows it out of the water, so I'm happy with the purchase!

Sharp Picture, Super Bright
Great quality, bright display. Purchased this for my desk at work. Disappointing that there's no VESA mounts (the stand "foot" comes off but the "leg" part is not removable. "Ultra-narrow" borders look thin in their photos and the display surface LOOKS like it ends about 2mm from the edge, but the pixels end about 8mm before the edge of the display. It's fine for work but if you're planning on using two displays right next to each other and want tiny borders, look elsewhere. Note: The first two I was shipped had broken panels (dropped, shattered screen). 3rd one was fine and ordered another for a coworker that arrived ok.

After Two Years
I have never used a 4K monitor and you have no idea how much time I have spent in doing research for something that would work for my photography purposes. People rave about this Philips monitor so I gave it a try. I just received my brand new monitor and when I plugged it in is defective and the menu doesn't even come up. The panel is simply bad and feel free to look at the photo I attached. This fist impression from Philips is NOT good. There are two reasons for this, the monitor box is inside another cardboard box without any bubble wrap and then the delivery people throw these items in their trucks like nothing. There’s nothing on the exterior that even says FRAGILE. If Philips would add bubble wrap that would certainly minimize or even avoid the risk of getting the product damaged and save a ton of money on repairs. Bubble wrap = happy customers without returns 👌 I have purchased two Asus 1080p monitors and they are all perfect. I am really disappointed in this Philips brand. I have requested a replacement and I am willing to give this a second try but If I receive another bad unit then Philips will get a really bad review not only here at Amazon but in other forums that I participate in. UPDATE as of 12/1/2020: I received my replacement monitor and I like the screen a LOT. Just to be clear, this is my very first 4K monitor ever so I cannot say that LG or Asus or Dell or BenQ is better, but for the kind of stuff I do as a professional photographer I do NOT need an overpriced expensive 4K monitor and am really happy with this Philips monitor and I'm really excited. I hate to pay more money just because an item has a "well known" brand. I'm the type of guy that simply likes to pay for the best possible product at the lowest possible cost. I don't like over paying for no good reason and from all the reviews I read from other manufacturers their monitors also have major issues and complaints. I will also say that for some very strange reason the design of this monitor and stand fits much more closer to the wall, more so than my Asus 24" Pro Art series, and the distance where this Philips is sitting on my desk right now is just perfect. I thought this monitor was going to end up being ON MY FACE but is actually the opposite and that is just awesome! Great design. And last, the screen on the stand DOES tilt just a tiny bit downward and enough to adjust it to my liking and it functions the way is supposed to from where I'm sitting. I'm super glad because some people make such a big deal that this screen is not VESA mount capable but so what. I thought I was not going to like the stand but I was totally wrong. For the price this is indeed a fantastic monitor and I totally recommend it. The first Philips monitor I got was a disaster but this one made up for it because the image quality from this screen is TOP notch with crisp gorgeous looking colors. To me the gamma capability and quality is excellent! I’m bumping the score to five stars. UPDATE: At almost two years this monitor was working just fine, and yes, the monitor is definitely worth the price, (IF) the monitor was reliable, but just a few days ago the same thing that others have said has happened to me as well. Some have reported that "The there is a line to the right off the middle of the display. Quality control problem I guess. It comes and goes." Well, mine has that line towards the left, and yes, it comes and goes. It started doing that during an entire day, and now is not there anymore. That's not good at all. I hate this type of intermittent issues because the monitor works and it doesn't work, and I know now that is not a matter of "if" but "when" it will get much worse or actually just die on me. Is sad for me to say this but I don't trust this product anymore so I'm getting rid of this monitor and buying something else. I sure hope Philips doesn't test this monitor and finds "nothing" because if that happens that means someone else will get this defective monitor and that vertical line will eventually show up again. That's just not a nice thing to happen to someone else. UPDATE: It has been a little over one week since that ugly distorted and flickering vertical line showed up towards the middle left of my screen. This only happened that one day during several hours and all of the sudden the vertical line has disappeared. I contacted Philips and recommended to take a picture next time. The problem could have also been caused my my graphics card, or the Display Port Cable, who knows, but the Philips representative gave me some basic troubleshooting tips to see if any of those components is actually causing the vertical line. I REALLY like this monitor, I got me a Dell S2721Q 4K monitor and compared it to this Philips and the color quality from this Philips is indeed superior. The skin tones for professional photo editing look way nicer than the Dell. I am definitely going to keep my Philips. UPDATE as of 10/12/21: The vertical line has come back, intermittently. This is indeed really annoying. I swapped the monitor for a different one that I have here around the house and the problem does not happen on that other monitor so is not my graphics card nor my Display Port cable. The problem is my Philips monitor. I also tried selecting a different resolution per Philips technical support and recommendation and that did not fix the problem. My monitor as well as other's same complaint is indeed real and the problem is that since the line appears intermittently and whenever it feels like it, Philips might not see it if send them the monitor to troubleshoot. I will have to wait until the vertical line gets worse then I'll send it. Good thing I still have a few years of warranty. UPDATE 7/25/22 The vertical flickering line still shows up all of the sudden, and then it goes away during a few weeks, and then it shows up again. This is really annoying and it doesn't inspire durability nor quality. I will be contacting Philips to get this repaired or replaced once and for all.

Great value for everyday use and gaming
Pretty good monitor for the price. Light weight. The image looks sharp and the colors pop. It works great for both work and gaming. I just wish the speakers were better and the stand had more adjustment options.

Crisp 4K Display at a Great Value
Crisp 4K Display at a Great Value The Philips 276E8VJSB has been one of those monitors that really punches above its price point. The 27-inch 4K UHD IPS panel produces a sharp, clear image with excellent color accuracy—photos, spreadsheets, and even movies look vibrant and natural. The 10-bit color depth with over a billion shades does make a difference, especially if you’re into editing or just enjoy vivid visuals. I’ve used it for both work and casual browsing, and the screen is bright enough to handle a well-lit room. The low blue light and flicker-free features help reduce eye strain during long sessions. The slim bezels make it look sleek on a desk, and it’s a nice option for a dual-monitor setup, though it’s worth noting that the “ultra-narrow” border isn’t as edge-to-edge as marketing photos suggest. There are a few trade-offs. The stand only tilts, so you don’t get height or swivel adjustment, and there’s no VESA mount option, which limits flexibility. Also, while it’s fine for light gaming, at 60Hz it’s not aimed at competitive gamers. Some users (myself included at times) have had to tweak settings to deal with occasional sleep/wake quirks when connected via HDMI. Still, for everyday office work, media, and general computing, it’s hard to beat the crispness and color quality at this price. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a budget-friendly 4K IPS monitor for productivity, photo viewing, or streaming, this Philips delivers impressive performance—just be mindful of the limited stand adjustment and lack of VESA mounting.
