Product itself super, but poor Amazon packaging
The is wool roving is so nice. I appreciate that it’s naturally colored and not dyed. It doesn’t have any strange chemical smells or odors. It’s plenty soft.*** My only complaint is Amazon is so goofy. The wool comes on this handy nice storage box, but Amazon packed the order in a bubble wrap envelope. Of course, the box got completely crushed. I hope the seller can place a complaint to Amazon itself in regards to this very poor packaging.

Takes a lot of effort to create core
I've been using Corriedale 8 oz cream for the core of my animal. I have found it takes a lot of work to get the shape you want, but it is relatively cheap wool for the amount they give you and does work great as the core of your animal. It just takes longer to get a firm core. What's nice about it, this cream/white can also be used for white places on your animal. No need to add white. Just use the exposed core. For felting needles, I recommend an assortment package that includes a long and a short needle. The long is usually a 36 (your main felting needle) that has a triangle shaped tip. The short is a 38. For a better needle, I recommend buying the star tipped needles from Bear Creek. This tip is easier for piercing felted wool, so I get size 38 for detailing. There is plenty of wool in the 8 oz for making many small animals of one large animal. I keep mainly to the 6 inch max and have made 3 birds and one fox so far and there is plenty still left of the wool.As a beginner in felting, I am creating realistic animals. I have found that the eyes are the most important part of the animal, once you have the core made. Don't bother with a set of amber eyes. The pupil is way too small to be realistic for animals, but they are great for whimsical pieces. Spend the money and get good eyes. If you buy safety eyes, the backs will be too thick for your small animals. I cut the backs off and glue the half fronts to the felted piece. As to eye size, 4, 5, and 6 are the perfect sizes for your small creations.
