A must-have for any emergency or outdoor kit!
These can openers are compact, durable, and work surprisingly well. The stainless steel construction feels sturdy, and the included chains make them easy to attach to a keychain, backpack, or emergency kit. They're lightweight, take up almost no space, and are perfect for camping, hiking, preparedness supplies, or everyday carry. A classic design that has stood the test of time. Great quality and excellent value!

A trusted item
These are virtually identical to the p-38's and p-51's originally included with military combat rations (c-rats).Simple to use. Deceptively rugged and versatile.Either style fits behind a dog tag. Or on a key ring. Or in a wallet. These are not the same as the newer rim-seal breaking openers. They do leave jagged edges. However, with a little common sense and normal caution, that is not an issue. These are a valuable addition to emergency supply kits.

Ease of use, easy to carry
Product as described. Just what I expected. Works well. Don't have to worry about cheap can openers stripped gears or electrity.

Being from the original manufacturer and MIL SPEC makes these so much better than cheaper brands.
Simply put, if you need a great can opener, the P-38 aka John Wayne as they've been called since WWII is the best for just about any can size. You can't beat it for sharpness, quality, or ease of use. This is and will always be the best value for the money when it comes to can openers. Durability of these makes any other can opener a no go. These are not only more durable, they are by far cheaper than any other household can opener. The P-51 size is for very large cans that I generally don't need this size for.

Good can opener but not great!
It was very easy to use but seemed to get dull after its initial use. My hand was quite tired from the manual labor expended on the can I would not recommend using this to regularly open cans in the kitchen but in a camp setting it would be handy.

P38
My P38 was lost and I wanted to replace it. This one works fine. I never had the P51 but I figured why not . They work just like the one that came in C rats. If you know, you know .

Convenient for canoe camping
Simple, compact, and effective. Thereโs a small learning curve to figure out the proper technique, but once you get the hang of it, both openers work very well. I found the larger P-51 more convenient and easier to use than the smaller P-38, though it's nice to have both. Unlike some other reviewers, I had no issues with the included ball chain. Overall, a great little tool that does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Good enough for the army, good enough for me
I have one of these hanging off everything, my keyring, my backpack, camping gear, everything, they work and work well. Believe me, bottle openers are useless, you don't need one for opening bottles but can openers? Sure some cans have pull tops but most do not. Sure you can open a can with a knife BUT, you can also slice your hand open. These are a must if you are a prepper or into emergency supplies.

Larger blade is better for opening
The larger one works better, I found myself struggling a bit using the smaller one. It would slide rather than cut after the initial puncture is made. If the can is thinner the small blade works just fine. But the larger blade is so much easier to use for cans of any size, it is my go-to. I rinse it off and let it hang and air dry, no rust so far. Comes with a coating of grease so you may want to wipe it down and give it a wash before using it. Very handy!
