Review: Makes walking much more comfortable again - I love my new Hugo Elite Rollator Walker with Seat, I broke my foot a couple months ago and with my severe arthritis in my ankles I was constantly struggling to walk. I knew I would be needing a walker eventually and I started checking around drug stores and found one I kind of liked but it was very expensive. I decided to go online and found the Hugo Elite. desertcart had the best price by far. The reviews and the questions helped a lot. This particular walker had the ability to be lowered for shorter people so when they sit in the seat, their feet touch the ground and don't dangle. So much more comfortable. I like the color. It can hold up to a total of 300 lb. The seat width is pretty much the standard seat but it is padded and very comfortable for even a lenghty time. The seat lifts up and you have a carrying bag underneath. I leave that on all the time though it can unsnap if you want it off. There is a strap that when you fold up the walker you can use to help fold it up. It hides in the basket when you don't use it. Also on the handlebars you have another tote with many pockets. It is slightly heavier than some walkers but even with my broken foot I was able to put it in my car. The big 8" wheels ride over carpet and grass easily. We took it on our trip to the beach a few weeks ago and it was very handy. We had a place for our towels and my husband's glasses and even our room key had its own pocket. The blue cloth basket is so roomy I didn't even realize we had brought the pool towels back with us to the room. I keep it upright usually so that I can use it first thing in the morning when my ankles are the most stiff. It wheels around most things easily. My cat walks under it while I am walking :-) I find that like a wheel chair, areas are not all that accessible; however, unlike a wheel chair, I can keep working with it like moving it up and down a step if I need to. We have had to move our kitchen garbage can as the wheels would get caught up in that area. Now It moves pretty much through the halls and tighter areas in most cases. I really don't have any cons. I wish I could walk like I used to but this has increased my walking much more so. I actually put the square laundry basket on the seat and that makes it easier to get the wash to the laundry room. When we were at a buffet on our vacation, I set the plate of food on the seat so I could easily go through the line. The brakes work well, I usually remember to put the brakes on when I close it so I can work with it without it sliding away from me. I also set the brakes when I am going to sit down on the seat. I did not take it ON the beach but did use it comfortably in the pool area. We kept it to the back of our car so when we got out at rest areas my husband could just open up the hatch and pull it out. I learned not all rest areas are accessible as I thought. It was hard to get a door open but with the walker but unlike a wheel chair, I could still pull the door open. While in the restroom, the handicapped stall was in use and I had to put my walker right up to the door and go in on my own to use the facilities. I could keep my eye on the walker but it was a learning experience for me. Using a handicapped stall would have probably been enough room for the walker and me. It was fairly easy to set up. Directions were illustrations and printed instructions. For purposes of getting the correct heights you should have the patient with you... but resetting them later wouldn't be too much problem. This was worth the money for sure. I have had it about 6-8 weeks and have had no problems or any regrets. After a day without using it, and I feel I have overdone, it is a joy to use it for the rest of the evening.
Review: Nice Rolling Walker - *** PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH *** This is the fifth rolling walker I have purchased over 20-years. Each time there have been subtle changes to the stability of the rollerator but also to some conveniences I really liked & wish they had kept (SEE BELOW). That said, this is an AWESOME walker!! Used daily inside & out; on buses, subways & autos; to shopping, restaurants and everywhere in between. Strong & very well made. Stable when used for even the tallest or heaviest individuals. It rolls easily while still giving support. It has two (2) hand brakes for more control while walking, sudden stopping, or slowing while navigating an incline. Handle bars adjust for an individual's height. Included is a comfortable seat should there be a need to rest or while waiting without having to stand. The seat can also serve as a place for a shopping tote while shopping, for a plate or food tray, or place purchases & boxes too large for the under seat storage area. Unlike some similar products, this one includes two (2) storage areas - under the seat & a removable handlebar bag. It also has a cushioned back rest bar for support while utilizing the fold down seat. First, the UPGRADES: * Brake cable system appears better. * Wheels seem a bit wider for better stability * Has a red pull out pin on one side to enable folding for additional safety ** * Each wheel stem has an additional snap on safety pin should the single stem pin fail Changes DELETED: * The two longer wheels (when folded down) no longer have a pull pin to allow folding inward of the wheels cutting down on the length of folded walker to fit into smaller car trunks * Deleted the velvo "pocket" under the fold down seat for securing smaller items such as an ID or small wallet - even with walker folded * Deleted both side zippered pockets inside the storage area under the seat which secured (even when folded) small tools, keys, lube for wheels, or other items that now fall out of the storage area if the walker is folded * Deleted the wheel height adjustment. Now the wheel stems have only one hole for attachment to the frame which eliminated a second adjustable height option setting. So for taller individuals, the seat may be too low for some individuals to comfortably get up from or even unable to use the seat at all. Things that STILL NEED IMPROVEMENT: ** Folding handle mechanism is NOT easy to use for shorter individuals. There used to be a short strap at the bottom of the storage area under the seat which you pulled up to fold walker. NOW there is a VERY LONG strap attached to the outside of the storage area, making it difficult for shorter people to pull all the way up (over head almost) to close. Need to go back to a shorter pull up strap. ** The red pin release needs to be pulled as you lift up on the long strap. This requires using one hand to pull out the pin, while simultaneously using the other hand to lift the strap up to close. This takes a stable walker with 4-wheels on the ground to only 2, causing the walker to roll away from you if you not strong enough to literally hold the walker upright or it immediately falls to the ground when in locks folded. ** After folding there is no way for the walker to "stand" vertically since only two wheels are now in contact with the ground making leaning it against a wall impossible without it falling. If you don't have the space to lay it down flat (horizontally) while folded, it actually takes up less space to leave it unfolded. ** The brake cables still are on the "outside" of the frame. These "loops" of cable by the hand grips (on both sides of the walker) allow them to catch on things while moving. This ultimately brakes the hand brake cables. (Every single previous walker this has happened to us. So trying to avoid this happening this time around, I installed velcro straps to the cable & handlebars eliminating the cable from sticking out to catch on anything). ** Stress importance of correct hand grip height. When adjusted correctly, the top of hand grip should be lined up with individual's knuckle bump on wrist. If set too low, it causes an individual to walk hunched over. If set too high, it eliminates support needed if a person loses their balance. ** Need to be able to adjust seat height. Either bring back the wheel stem height adjustments or add an adjustment option to the frame itself for the option to raise the seat to a comfortable height for both individuals who are taller or for those to need it higher than normal to assist them to move from sitting to standing. ** Add zipper closure to handlebar bags outer pocket. Currently, the large center pocket is secured only with two snaps allowing smaller items to fall out of the bag when walker is folded or moved in or out of the trunk. Since both under seat storage area zipper pockets were removed, the handle bar bag could be used instead if more secure. I have only used the handlebar bag large outer pocket to carry a cable lock should the need arise to secure the walker temporarily elsewhere (dining out, theater, stadiums, etc. if it would block a fire lane) to keep it from "disappearing". After moving any under the seat items to the removable bag, I unattach it & carry it with me.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How sturdy is it when rising from a seating position?**
A: I am am over 6 feet tall and weight 244 pounds. I am 76 years old and have no problem standing from a seated position using this walker. I use it in the yard on the grass and at stores. Just be sure the brake is set so it does not move while you are trying to sit or stand. This Walker has given me back my mobility! Bill K

**Q: Can this be used as a wheelchair?**
A: No. Would not recommend using as a wheelchair. Your weight makes it off balance & you could tip over. Happened to me while I was sitting and my daughter tried pushing me like in a wheelchair. Use it as a walker like it's intended use

**Q: How much strength is needed to apply and lock the hand brakes? My 84-yo mother's balance condition and arthritis often leave her weak/fatigued.**
A: Brakes are easy to apply. However Brakes are not reliable if it is windy or such as on a train or left untethered in an ambulate or handicapped bus. Also is back heavy so if any item to use for storage is not counter balanced below the seat or by someone sitting in it and can and has toppled forward on me while I have been walking with it. I cannot emphasize more that the brakes must be applied before siting or standing on a level surface. It will roll. I am a retired nurse and now find myself using one.

**Q: are the brakes easy to adjust,tighten..do they hold firmly when one sits on the seat?**
A: very easy to adjust - they don't slip - and my tush feels ever so comfortable sitting on this seat. It's wider and more cushioned than most and the back rest hits in the right place. While this is a little heavier than others, the wheels are bigger, which makes it more stable on sidewalks or grassy areas. The only problem I've found so far is that the little red button can be difficult to pull when opening but seems to be getting easier and a little WD-40 helps too.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I no longer automatically reject going some places or doing activities because I will have to be on my feet for too long!
*by K***R on July 6, 2015*

I waited several months to write my review so I had time to use my walker first. Thanks to this walker I was able to take and enjoy an 11 day trip to Disney World and Legoland with my 3 year old granddaughter. My problem isn't walking, it is being on my feet in one place for very long. I will be in terrific pain that will last for hours afterwards when I have to stand in one place for very long which is why I wanted a walker. I have an extremely bad back so bending over and carrying things aren't good for me either. On a previous trip by myself to Disney World I observed many people using walkers and spoke with several of them. When I returned home I was determined to buy myself one and am so glad I did. I would never have even considered attempting to take my granddaughter on our 11 day trip by myself otherwise. Because I was able to sit down while we were standing in lines I was able to go all day. When I needed to talk to my granddaughter I didn't have to bend over to be able to hear her because of all the people and noise. I would lock the brakes and she would hop up on the seat to talk to me. This walker is very sturdy and stable so I didn't worry about her tipping it over and falling off. Because of all the storage I didn't have to carry anything and my back and shoulders didn't hurt. I even used it to transport our groceries from the car across the parking lot, up the elevator and down the hallways to the unit we stayed in. I hung bags from the handle bars and put a big box on the seat so was able to bring everything up in one trip. . I am very pleased with this walker and purchased it after reading on a couple of different websites many reviews of various walkers. I picked this walker for the following reasons. 1. The bigger 8" swivel wheels. They make a huge difference in your ability to maneuver. Don't waste your money on a walker with smaller or fixed position wheels. 2. The height adjustment. Both the seat and handle bars. I am able to easily adjust it by myself to the perfect height or to make it smaller to store. 3. Seat size and weight limit. I bought this walker because I needed to be able to sit down and the seat is wide and deep enough to sit comfortably on for more than just a few minutes. Although I don't need the 300 lb. weight capacity when I was comparing/considering the different walkers, the fact that this one is designed to hold that much told me that it is not a flimsy piece of junk. 4. Storage. The most storage of any walker I looked at. I like being able to have things stowed out of sight under the seat and in the storage bag. 5. Ease of collapsing and storing. After reading other's comments, I practiced a few times collapsing the walker and loading it in the car to get the hang of it. I have to say that I am impressed with how easily I now collapse it and load it in the car without any help! I drive a 2005 Elantra and was afraid it would take up my whole backseat or trunk after reading other people's comments. Not so. I like to put the walker in the backseat behind me and on our trip was able to fit the walker, a cooler, my granddaughter in her car seat with all her stuff, a duffle bag and more in the back seat of my little car. 6. Weight and Stability. I'm not frail but will confess that I don't work out and I have no problem picking this walker up. After using my walker and observing other people's walkers, the smaller or lighter weight walkers seem rickety by comparison. Stability has greater priority than weight for me. Other people's comments called this walker the Cadillac of walkers and it truly is. Every time I have been somewhere with my Hugo Elite Rollater Walker I have received comments/questions from other walker users who wish they had one like it. I got it right the first time with this purchase!
