My son has sucked his index and middle fingers since he was around 5 months old. His pediatrician on his 14 month check up said, I don’t know what you’re going to do about those fingers but you might wanna see if there is something out there. So my bonus daughter found this blessing! I am happy to say that it really works! Now, it took a month but we were consistent with keeping it on. We took it off to give him a break during the day but monitored him closely. If he attempted to put his fingers in his mouth, device it was! May sound cruel but what I can tell you is, his fingers are still healing with thick skin and his nail beds are growing since he no longer sucks his fingers. He is still very much a happy camper not sucking them. So my advice, buy it and try it! Don’t be discouraged, it works!!! Review: Doesn't work for kids at the higher end of the age range - I have 5 year old twins and bought two of these CareThumb guards to get them to stop sucking their fingers. I cut out the recommended area and followed all instructions. Two major issues with this product: 1. The wrist cuff is way too small. Even beading it through the last hole, it was way too tight on my daughters' wrist and I could barely get it on them. 2. Smart kids can figure out how to get this off easily. My kids figured out that they couldn't get it off their wrist, but if they pulled straight up, the silicon stretched enough that they could pop their fingers out. Good concept for a product, but a couple of design flaws make it unusable for ages 4+. Now since I've used it and cut pieces out of it per the recommendation of the manufacturer, I can't return it.

Not fit for toddlers
The spacing on the fingers are too big. My daughter is 2yr old and she just stuck her fingers through there. Maybe it will work for older kids but not toddlers

Not worth the money.
I bought two bought of these really thinking it would help my toddler stop sucking her fingers, but didn’t work. She just found a way to slip her little fingers out of it. I thought with time she would stop because it fit her better as she grew but some how it didn’t work. Honestly the design could be better especially for toddlers. It wasn’t worth the money and because I really was hopeful with time it would be beneficial I couldn’t return it. It didn’t seem too comfortable because my toddler had slight bruising around her thumb and wrist from pulling out her fingers just to put them in her mouth.

Worked for my 4 year old
This worked very quickly with my 4 yr old who sucked her 2 fingers ALL the time. It was comfortable to wear. Within a couple weeks it broke her habit of automatically putting her fingers in her mouth. She did chew on and slightly tear one plastic finger and a 4 yr can easily take it off if they’re so inclined. It gets quite dirty if playing outside and hard to thoroughly wash/dry hands. I did find that while she was not sucking her fingers during the day, I had to continue with over night use, as the fingers found way into her mouth while sleeping. I’d recommend as nothing else worked for us.

Worked for us!
This absolutely worked as a deterrent for our 4 year old daughter. She could get her fingers out and would still suck them some at night, but overall it has decreased our finger sucking by 90-95% easily. I no longer see her suck her fingers during the day while watching a TV show or riding in the car. It did rub her wrist raw, so we had to cut up a sock to keep on her wrist and switched it out daily for a new one. It was easy to clean and easy to put on. So now I'm going to try the thumb version of this for my 2 year old son!

Not impressed at all!
This item needs a lot of work. It was a waste of money in my and my husband's opinions. Our 2.5 year old sucks her middle and ring fingers together. She is getting sores and bumps on her fingers and it is changing the shape of her mouth. At the recommendation of her dentist, we decided to try and kick the habit. There are two finger guard options out there, this being the cheaper of the two. I haven't tried the other one so don't know how it compares. This one is junk, though! It is too big for the average sized toddler so it is huge around her fingers. The air vent holes are also huge so she just sticks her fingers through the holes and sucks them that way. Or, because the material is so stretchy, she can literally stretch it up and over her fingers so that it hangs to the side and she can freely suck them. At first I thought we should have tried it when she was much younger so she couldn't stretch it so much. But then it really would have been huge on her. Dumb construction without much thought or input from actual users.

finger sucking kid
we are trying everything to help our kid stop finger sucking. these fit over the fingers but our 6 year old figured out how to take it off very quickly. maybe she is too old for this sort of thing but it would have been better if maybe the finger covers were harder to take off?
