I couldn't live without it!
This thing is awesome! Four liters of boiling hot water (at my choice of temperature: 208, 195, 175, or 260 degrees F) always ready to dispense on my countertop. It heats up very fast to boil the water then it lets it cool to your selected temperature and keeps it there. It has insulated walls for energy efficiency. A quiet pump quickly dispenses a stream of hot water or you can remove the lid and just tip and pour out larger quantities. I use this all the time to make tea, hot soup, or anything else that calls for boiling hot water. Zojirushi is known for making top-quality reliable appliances and this water boiler is no exception! It has a self-cleaning mode and the directions tell you to add their cleaning powder (sold separately) and run the self-cleaning cycle to descale the inside. But just use citric acid crystals instead of their proprietary powder--that's the same thing, but much cheaper. And it really works! Add the crystals, run the cleaning cycle, dump out and rinse--all the lime scale is gone! A water boiler is a fantastically handy kitchen appliance and this one is the top model. It's pricier than others but remember, you get what you pay for. I had a cheap one previously that died after a couple years. This one is four years old and looks and works like the day I got it. It makes a fantastic gift, too--perfect for newlyweds, college students, anyone!

Super useful, High quality (updated)
After 6 years and 4 months, I had to finally replace this. It would have lasted longer if I had cleaned it more often, I am certain. But I chose the same model and everything I wrote before remains the same. Maybe one of my top 10 purchases. Worth every single penny for reliable hot water any time. The new one should arrive today and waiting for water to boil has been very noticeable. It’s a small thing, but it saves time. Who knew how big a difference a simple, high quality appliance like this could make to our family’s quality of life! Can’t wait for the replacement to arrive today so my wife can make her herbal tea right before bed and I can wake up and just make coffee. One of my top 20 purchases of all time. We drink a lot of coffee and tea in my house and had used a Keurig for a long time. Our Keurigs, though, never seemed to make it past a year and got noisier and noisier over time. This, however, is quiet. The loudest sound on it is the beeps from the buttons (after I turned off the alarm that lets you know the water has reached the right temperature). While I would prefer it had an option to make no sounds, it has been so great I have to give it 5 stars. We keep the temperature at 195 and it has been perfect for teas and coffee in a French Press. I also use it to get a quick start on cooking. One BIG note is that by default, whenever you add more water, it wants to heat the water to boiling and then let the water temperature go down to whatever temperature you have set. Luckily, though, there is a "Quick Temp" option which turns this off. I only boil the water once every week or so to make sure things are sterile inside. Without the "Quick Temp" feature, though, we would not be able to leave it on our counter under a cabinet because it would steam and damage the cabinet finish. So just make sure you have open space for the steam OR you use the "Quick Temp" feature to prevent the steam. Zojirushi as a brand now sits alongside my KitchenAid mixer as far as my loyalty and willingness to recommend unequivocally to anyone.

Excellent product, exceeded my expectations!
In my decision between the CV-DCC40 and CV-JAC40, I ultimately opted for the former. Several factors influenced my choice. Notably, the CV-DCC40 boasts the lowest electric consumption, is supplied with a magnetic power cord, and aligns with my preference for the dark brown color scheme. Given that I exclusively use purified water, the boil function is unnecessary, hence why it's on quick temp 24/7. At night, I activate the timer to ensure that my water is heated and ready for consumption upon waking at 6 am. While the JAC40 offers some upgrades, these are largely minor. While the red ball level indicator is an aesthetically pleasing addition, the panorama window serves a comparable function. Although the dark black color scheme is too harsh for me, it is ultimately a subjective matter of preference. However, it does consume more energy, which is a setback. This is primarily attributed to the JAC40’s 940W heating element compared to the 840W of the DCC40. This difference may result in a 5-minute reduction in boiling time when starting from cold, but its impact on daily usage is negligible. The capacity of the 4 vs 5 liter tanks is subjective. I prefer to refill or refresh my water more frequently rather than allowing it to stagnate. Given my solitary lifestyle, the decision was swift and decisive. The settings are very intuitive, the size is perfect for my personal usage and cleaning is a breeze. Overall, I am immensely satisfied with its performance, which accurately reflects its advertised capabilities and precisely meets my requirements.

A cheerful addition to our kitchen
We had a different thermal water boiler for about ten years, and found it extremely handy. I had been strongly tempted to get a Zojirushi before, but wasn't sure how much we would use it. In fact, we got quite spoiled, always having water available to make hot beverages, and had to refill it at least once a day, in addition to at bedtime, as we're both retired now, so we knew we wanted one with a larger volume. I also wanted it to be tall enough that I could fit one of my Zojirushi tea carriers under the spout. This size seemed ideal, and so far it's met and exceeded all of our expectations. First, it comes up to temperature amazingly quickly if you set it to do so. It will also come to temperature as slowly as you want if you fill it before going to bed, and set the timer; and you can set it to thermal, and let the vacuum insulation keep the water hot. The water gauge is easy to read once you get the hang of it. We have only needed to refill it once except at bedtime, although we're both getting hot beverages throughout the day and evening. The thermostat reading verifies that it has always kept the water at the chosen temperature. We love the tunes it plays, which could be changed to simple beeps or turned off, but as my husband says, it's a cheerful little thing, and we enjoy hearing it. I think the only feature we haven't used is the self-cleaning cycle, as that hasn't been needed yet. My only complaint is that 185ºF, which is the best choice for a few of my teas, is not one of the temperature selections; however, that is attainable by cooling 195ºF water through pouring from another vessel to my teapot, so that is really not a major concern. However, I've also discovered that if I keep the water boiler set to 175ºF, I can then set it to 195ºF and choose Quick Temp to bring it up to 185ºF amazingly rapidly, then reset it to 175ºF. It's really quite amazing how quickly this heats water. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

Works Exactly As Described
I bought this to keep water at a specific temperature for extended periods of time for steeping tea Gong Fu style. I also needed something with low electricity consumption. I live in an old house with old wiring that lacks electrical capacity during peak consumption. Typical hot pots do a great job of heating water quickly, but they use a lot of electricity and have trouble maintaining consistent temperatures over extended periods. They also hold less water than this machine. Although it's expensive, it seemed to be exactly what I needed. As it turns out, it is and more. It actually brings the water to a pre-selected holding temperature much faster than I expected, especially when it's not filled completely. It keeps the water at a completely consistent temperature and doesn't use much electricity. I know this because my lights don't dim when I turn it on. I like the fact that it has a timer so I can have the water ready when I want it, if I don't feel like waiting 15 minutes to heat a partial pot of water. The easy to read sight glass is especially helpful for measuring specific amounts of water. I am learning to love the 80s Casio keyboard sounding alert tones. As an added benefit, this wakes me up when the water is ready. All in all, this is a great product that works wonderfully. Given the cost of good tea and nice tea accessories, this machine is worth every penny. I'm glad I bought it. If you enjoy serving tea Gong Fu style, you will absolutely love this thing. I'm sure it's good for lots of other things as well, but I don't have babies, eat oatmeal, drink instant coffee, or use it for anything other than tea. If you need hot water at a specific temperature for long periods of time, you will be glad to have this.

Quality is apparent..........
We decided on this water heater due to all the GREAT reviews - and I read quite a few! We have switched to brewing our morning coffee with a Bodum press - both for 'cold brew' and when I forget to set it up for cold brew - we brew hot coffee with the Bodum press as well. Both make delicious coffee! We are COMPLETELY satisfied with this hot water heater. Great for tea, coffee, soups, warm ups, etc. Wish the water level indicator was a bit easier to see - you have to sort of stand back and take a peek to make sure it isn't running low. The unit is easy to fill and to use. I ordered the Citric Acid Cleaner and have cleaned it easily already - we have lots of minerals in our water - even though we triple filter it. So, the cleaner is essential every few months. Works like a charm. We also set it up on a timer so that it comes on and is hot when we wake up and then it goes off mid morning. That schedule works great for us. Otherwise, you must plug it in each morning and unplug it to shut it off. We are completely satisfied with this heater. I think you will be as well. It is worth every penny we spent on it. :0) I know that the cost could make a person hesitate. But the quality is very apparent and I am just hopeful that it lasts for a very long time.
