Funny and quirky graphic novel for the tween+
Volume 9 maintains the funny and quirky graphic novel series for the tween+ same characters but each one has a bit different artistic style.

Weakest issue to date. What happened to the mystery???
This volume was cute don’t get me wrong. It has all the lumberjane adorableness, and puns you could want but the mystery was just nonexistent. Maybe this is just how the series is going to be now that Stevenson is no longer apart of it, but I was really disappointed. I’ll be giving it one more volume to see if the mystery comes back but if it ends up following the filler that was the last two volumes... I’ll have to say goodbye to the Lumberjanes.

Roller derby Sasquatch fun!
My kid was beyond excited for the roller derby and loved it as much as the previous 8 volumes she’s been tearing through over the last few weeks.

Slowing down
3.5 starsStill a really cute series, but wasn't a huge fan of the art style in this one. I also wish the storyline would get back to having a "main" overarching plot. Also wondering about the idea of the paranormal activities being secret. I thought only a few of the campers knew about them but in this one it seems the entire camp knew. Maybe I've missed something?

It's Roller Derby time for Roanoke's
In Volume #9 we have the Lumberjanes solving one mystery of the melting ice-cream as they learn that someone is stealing the camp's power supply. The girls travel along and find Yetis and Sasquatches. The yetis have been kicked out of their treehouse by the Sasquatches. Mal finds an old roller rink and decides to set up a competition for the Yeti's to get their house back. The Roanoke cabin aka the Lumberjanes will challenge the Sasquatches to a game of roller derby.Meanwhile, during this book, Jo is off in her little world as she has received a letter asking her to come to a Science camp and though this could change her life forever, it would mean leaving all her friends behind which she could never do. The other thing that happens in this book is that the Zodiac cabin is complete with Diane and Barney becoming more accepted of the Lumberjanes camp. I did enjoy this book but felt it had lacked a bit of the usual Lumberjane mischief and mayhem. Stay tuned for Volume #10 to come on The Phantom Paragrapher.
