Bulldog Security Remote Starter

By no fault of the seller, this unit is NOT the (true) RS82B. I've ordered this twice now through Amazon, and received the RS82 with the included SEPARATE transponder bypass unit. (See pictures) The TRUE RS82B has an All-in-one unit where the Transponder key fits inside. This included bypass unit also does not contain a good padded clip to secure the extra key into. This one allows the key to flop around. (See picture).I was purchasing this to replace my original RS82B which I purchased a couple of years ago, and just now got around to installing, but it was DOA :(So I have the wiring all done, but no (working) unit.I figured I'd go ahead and use this unit and quit hassling with the returns/re-ordering, and as most of this would work except the bypass loop connector as it is different. I tried using the unit without the bypass (which you can do, to at least test the main unit), but the unit would not match to the remote. So once again... DOA unit. Seeking a return on this unit as well now.UPDATE: Got the unit going. I had to go to the Bulldog Security website and lookup possible errors. The unit for whatever reason was locked into "safemode". But now, when using this unit, I get a strange 'whine' out of my vehicle that is not present during normal vehicle operation. Akin to a second motor running. It also caused my engine warning light to come on. Checking the code references something to do with the Transmission. Reset it, have not used remote since - no light coming on. Remote starting is not worth causing harm to my vehicle.. Will be removing and eating the money that I spent on it.NEW UPDATE: since originally posting this [a long time ago], I found the "whine"; had a wire wrong, to it was constantly trying to operate the starter. Can't remember which wire after this time. But I Found the correct connection and it's been perfect since. So based on it's operation, I will give it a full five stars. updated rating.

I have installed a bulldog security remote starter previously. When I received this on I was surprised at the lack of instructions there was a DVD included but it didn’t give any trouble shooting suggestions. I found more information on YouTube. Once I installed the unit and powered it up the lights blinked as they should have but the unit would not recognize the remote. There were no instructions how to sync the remote to the unit. I called the 800 number provided and it is a bad number saying that it wasn’t available in my area. I then called the other 800 contact number and it goes to voicemail, over a 2 week period I left multiple messages for them to call me back and never received a call. I also went to the provided tech url service and never got a response. I have now removed the unit and will be returning it. I am confident that Amazon will takes care of the return knowing their excellent service. I will never buy another Bulldog product again due to their lack of service/support.

Only took an hour and a half to install works great

I have some automotive repair expertice and the ability to follow instructions, yet I could not get this to work on my 2007 Subaru Outback. I was unable to reach customer servie by phone and when they finally replied to my email, the advice I got was less than helpful. I knew I was in trouble when the wiring connector from the harness and the socket on the controller did not match ( the locking clips were on opposite sides) customer serve suggested I use a zip-tie to hold them together. Wasted $90.00.

Good basic system. Easy hook up. On line ([...]) video/wiring diagrams to help w/ installation. Would have given it 5 stars but range to start is poor < 25'

I bought this for my boyfriend for a Christmas present. I ordered it two weeks before Christmas and recieved it in plenty of time to be able to wrap it and put it under the tree. It's gonna be hard to top it next year! He loves it! (We live in Minnesota)
