Inu-Yasha's father Inu no Taisho, the Great Dog Demon, possessed not two but three swords: Tetsusaiga, Tenseiga, and Sounga, which are linked to Earth, Heaven, and Hell, respectively. After the human princess Izayoi gave birth to Inu-Yasha, she was killed by Takemaru, a samurai who loved her from afar. Inu no Taisho died soon after; the sword smith Totosai and Myoga the flea hid the first two swords, according their master's instructions, and sealed away Sounga. Seven centuries later, Sounga has become one of the treasures of the Higurashi family shrine. During what should be an ordinary ritual, Sounga is freed and returns to the past through the Bone Eater's Well. The bloodthirsty spirit of the sword raises the soul of Takemaru and begins a campaign of hideous destruction. Can Inu-Yasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, Sango, and Sesshomaru defeat the sword-ghoul--individually or collectively? In addition to being more violent than other Inu-Yasha films, Swords of an Honorable Ruler is more lavish, with lots of CG special effects and a score by Kaoru Wada that evokes The Rite of Spring . Director Toshiya Shinohara keeps things movie so briskly, the viewer doesn't have time to miss Naraku, Kikyo, or the Shikon Jewel, although the final battle goes on far too long. The drama and passion of Swords of an Honorable Ruler will delight Inu-Yasha fans. (Rated PG-13: violence, grotesque imagery, minor risqué humor) --Charles Solomon Inuyasha The Movie 3: Swords of an Honorable Ruler, Vol. 3 (DVD) Many years ago, the Great Dog Demon wielded the Three Swords of the Fang. Upon his death, he bequeathed a sword to each of his sons, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, leaving the third sword, the wrath-filled Sounga, locked away forever. Now that the Sounga's power has been awakened, these two battling brothers must put away their sibling rivalry and face off against the force that spells doom for all mankind. Review: One of the best!!! - This is the third installment of one of my favorite anime’s movies. This was an amazing movie, I watched almost all the Inuyasha movies back in the day on Toonami/ adult swim and I’ve always wanted my own collection. If you haven’t seen this, it doesn’t disappoint, and if you’re a die hard Inuyasha fan you’ll love this movie. Review: My favorite of all the Inuyasha movies! - Inuyasha is a great anime. It has 4 movies. I have yet to see the fourth movie, but of the first 3, this is my favorite and it will be tough to beat. The third movie focuses on Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's relationship, or lack there of, with their father and his swords which he handed down to them. This movie explains how Inuyasha's father met his end and reveals a secret. Inuyasha's father had 3 swords. He gave the sword of heaven which can save 100 lives with one swing to his older son, Sesshomaru. This sword is called the Tenseiga. He gave the sword of earth which can be used to vanquish 100 foes in one swing and in doing so defend mankind to his younger son, Inuyasha. This sword is called Tetsusaiga. His last sword was the sword of hell and was capable of plunging the entire earth into hell. This sword was called the Sounga. Inuyasha's father banished the sword Sounga after his death, but in Kagome's time the sword was released from its seal. Now Inuyasha and Sesshomaru must stop the rampaging Sounga before it carries out its mission and destroys all mankind. Only by using both the Backlash Wave, Tetsusaiga's Ultimate technique and the Dragon Strike, Sesshomaru's technique which he can use with the Tenseiga together can the Sounga be destroyed, but can these two siblings work together long enough to discover victory? This movie is wonderful in that it explains much of Sesshomaru's past and why he does the things he does. Sesshomaru's development in this movie is wonderful and all the other characters are not to be missed. The show may be called Inuyasha, but in my opinion Sesshomaru steals the show in the wonderful movie! ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Contributor | Akio Ohtsuka, Fumihiko Tachiki, Houko Kuwashima, Jillian Michaels, Kappei Yamaguchi, Kelly Sheridan, Ken Narita, Kenichi Ogata, Kirby Morrow, Koji Tsujitani, Kumiko Watanabe, Moneca Stori, Richard Ian Cox, Satsuki Yukino, Toshiya Shinohara, Yasunori Matsumoto, Yuichi Nagashima Contributor Akio Ohtsuka, Fumihiko Tachiki, Houko Kuwashima, Jillian Michaels, Kappei Yamaguchi, Kelly Sheridan, Ken Narita, Kenichi Ogata, Kirby Morrow, Koji Tsujitani, Kumiko Watanabe, Moneca Stori, Richard Ian Cox, Satsuki Yukino, Toshiya Shinohara, Yasunori Matsumoto, Yuichi Nagashima See more | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 195 Reviews | | Format | Animated, Color, Dolby, Multiple Formats, NTSC, Subtitled, Widescreen | | Genre | Anime & Manga | | Language | English, Japanese | | Runtime | 1 hour and 40 minutes | ## Images ![InuYasha, The Movie 3 - Swords of an Honorable Ruler - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71b+UaBJO4L.jpg) ![InuYasha, The Movie 3 - Swords of an Honorable Ruler - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71GXdlvykML.jpg) ![InuYasha, The Movie 3 - Swords of an Honorable Ruler - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41WmLd8-Y3L.jpg) ![InuYasha, The Movie 3 - Swords of an Honorable Ruler - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51pU5BqUPoL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the best!!! *by J***D on February 28, 2026* This is the third installment of one of my favorite anime’s movies. It gives the back story of Inuyasha's birth and you get to see what his father is like. I first checked out the DVD from my local library and I fell in love with it. I love Inuyasha anyway and enjoyed seeing how he came into the world. It kept me on the edge of my seat watching Inuyasha fight the power of the sword's evil that was trying to take control of him. It was even better when he had to join forces with his brother to defeat the sword and it's demonic powers. I had to have the movie and purchased it as soon as I was able. It was well worth the price and it was money well spent. If you love or even like Inuyasha, you'll enjoy this DVD. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/10366267-inuyasha-the-movie-3-swords-of-an-honorable-ruler](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/10366267-inuyasha-the-movie-3-swords-of-an-honorable-ruler) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-27*
