but it really seems like just eating a couple of threads every day would ...
Just received my order. The capsule contents are white with darker speckles. I assume the speckles to be the actual saffron (or 'extract') and the white to be a mix of the fillers. Saffron is expensive because of it's nature and how it is harvested, but it really seems like just eating a couple of threads every day would give you the same benefit.Bazaargan's brand is the same as most of the others out there. 88+ mg in what looks like a 400mg capsule, so 'pure' means that 75%+ of that capsule is filled with Microcrystalline Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate and silica. I am giving it 3 stars for now because it annoys me to no end when supplements are labelled as "pure" when they are anything but.All three of these are GRAS, and in almost every capsule and tablet you consume. The Microcrystalline Cellulose, generally derived from wood pulp pretty much just adds a bit of fiber to your diet. In larger amounts it may reduce absorption of nutrients and be a cause of gas and/or bloating. Magnesium stearate has been linked to some potentially serious health issues if derived in certain ways, which are never clear on these labels. It is so common in capsules because it acts as a lubricant on the machinery and allows the powders of supplements and herbs to flow freely through the equipment and allows complex formulas to stay well-mixed for consistency.According to LiveStrong:"This innocuous additive is found in 95 percent of supplements on the market today. As of late, this additive is also being called a toxin. To better explain its dangers, you have to understand exactly what magnesium stearate does and where it is found in supplements. There is also confusion on the differences between magnesium stearate and stearic acid.Magnesium stearate is often found as a combined product of stearic acid and according to That's Fit, it is made by the hydrogenation of cottonseed or palm oil. Cottonseed oil has the highest content of pesticide residues of all commercial oils, and it coats the nutrients that are found in supplements. Therefore it also delays the absorption of these nutrients by the intestines. In large doses, magnesium stearate damages the skin and causes liver toxicity.Stearic acid, combined with magnesium forms the stearate; the acid is found in nature in many of the foods that are widely consumed such as poultry, fish, meat, eggs, butter, milk products, grains, cocoa, coconut and many others."Silica is naturally occurring in many whole foods. It has not been established to be required for health, but generally appears to move through the body when consumed orally unchanged. One huge note of caution. Silicon dust has been definitively linked to lung cancer if inhaled. our lungs have no way of eliminating inhaled silica, so they form scar tissue over affected areas which will have cumulative lifetime implications. Never under any circumstances inhale any dust that contains silica or diatomaceous earth, or really any other particulate. In terms of use in capsules, they don't mention the source or the structure and any time information is limited it is a bit of a flag for me.Small amounts of any of these additives ingested through supplements are most likely not harmful, but the vast majority of vitamins and supplements contain some or all of them, and often many more, so it's definitely something to consider especially in situations like this where it makes up the vast majority of what you are consuming with every pill.I will finish this bottle and update my review if I have anything new to report.

Disappointed :(
Haven't noticed a decrease in my appetite at all. Instead of taking one tablet I chose to take two one in the am and pm. I stopped being consistent after a week bc I noticed it wasn't doing anything that people said it would. I'll give saffron more try but with a different brand.

Skeptic at first.....now I know it works
This product was provided at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review. I first have to say I love to snack. It doesn't matter if I just ate a big meal, I find myself wanting a snack within an hour and so then I scrounge around and find something to munch on. That's why I decided to give this product a try. At first I was skeptical as I've tried other products that said they were appetite suppressants, but I thought I'd at least keep an open mind.Day 1: Took the pill in the morning and was very surprised that by lunch I had not had a snack between breakfast and lunch. After lunch I didn't have any craving for a snack so I chalked it up to fluke and that my mind was playing tricks on me. I did end up with a snack after dinner, so it is what it is.Day 2: No cravings again and this time for the whole day other than my usual meals and I started to wonder if this actually was legit. I had to keep thinking about why is this one working when another one I used to take didn't.Day 3: Okay this is not something I usually say, but this product actually works. I know it's only a few days into the product, but I feel that if I have no cravings for extra meals or snacks, then that's saying something. It's safe and effective and a veggie cap so safe for anyone who's vegetarian. I am going to keep taking this and probably will for a long time. I have never been a big fan of pills or supplements, but I will say I'm a fan of this one

good addition to my vitamin mix
This saffron supplement is just like all other ones I have tried and helps to suppress appetite. I take it in combination with a multivitamin and around 10 other supplements daily, so I don't know exactly what saffron on its own does, but with my regimen I really like it. As for the formulation/appearance, it also looks exactly like all other saffron supplements I have had. It does not look like pure saffron, but none of the other ones do either. Like my previous saffron supplements, these capsules also contain mostly an off-white powder with flecks of darker material in there (see my attached picture). I have never seen a saffron supplement that actually looks like red or yellow ground saffron, so I guess it is just in the processing and due to other ingredients. Overall, this supplement does help to control snacking and I really like having it as part of my daily vitamin routine! I did get a discount on this in exchange for an honest & unbiased review, and that is exactly what this is. I only choose items (for these discounts) that I really want or need and would have bought for myself anyway, so all my reviews are completely honest and reflect my personal opinions and uses of this product :) Thanks!
