Carve like a Pro
I've been using this tools for a few years now and I can say they are absolutely the best. The a re sturdy, stay clean without too much hassle, and have excellent grip. My hands often get sweaty, especially my palms, and I often have a hard time holding small tools for long periods of time - that's why I decided to buy this set. I saw the grooved hand grips and thought "My sweaty hands could use a nice grip". I was right and I can say with confidence they do NOT slip out of my hands when I need to use them for long periods of time. There are a lot of different head tip shapes to choose to use and some I use a lot more than others so maybe the selection is a little overkill but for a price like that you can't complain. I've never had a problem with the tools bending or giving way under pressure which has been a problem for me in the past when buying tools like these. I prefer the stainless steel over wooden body because of the way it feels (much more sturdy in your hands) and the grip as I mentioned before. They stay clean as long as you rinse them in hot water when you're finished with your project. Other carvers that I've bought in the past often get dirty in the grip areas and you can never get them clean but these are fairly easy to maintain. Would definitely tell other people to buy this set over most others. There are some competitors out there at this price but they don't have the selection that this set does.

Not just for wax carving!
So I love these. And while they are technically listed for 'wax carving', that is one of the few things I have actually not used them for. BUT WAIT, you say, WHAT DO YOU USE THEM FOR?? Well I'm so glad you asked! So far I have used them for... -Vinyl weeding. You *could* spend $20 on a special 'Circut' or 'Silhouette' brand set of 'weeding tools' for your vinyl decal projects...but these puppies work just as well (if not better) for a fraction of the price -Teeth cleaning. I'm 57% sure that these aren't intended to be used for dental hygiene purposes, but they look pretty darn close to what my dentist uses, so I've started using these in my own oral care routine and they work fantastic. Upside? I'm a lot nicer to myself than my dentist is. NEVER GOING BACK TO THE DENTIST (well. the jury is still out on this one) -Modelling clay. Pretty similar to wax. Except softer. And more fun colors. -Cake decorating. Again, pretty sure that isn't what these were made for, but they are great for intricate designs in fondant. Sorta like modelling clay. But tastier. -Sewing. I've used several of these picks for various sewing needs...like turning out tiny corners in doll clothes. I know I'm forgetting some because I use one or more of these so frequently its hard to keep track. They are like a set of pointy all-purpose tools for your everyday aspiring dentist/crafty person!

6 plus years of use and they're still some of my favorite sculpting tools!
I've been using this same set of tools for 6 years now. I do a lot of polymer clay sculpting and these have been a great help. Their sharp points let me add fine details, their stainless steel keeps them pretty clean and easy to clean up if I do get glue or whatever on them. I've even accidentally (lazy artist) left apoxy clay bits on a few of the tips and it hardened to rock like consistency and I just used some of the other tools to scrape off the hardened bits, no harm. They are work horses for me and I probably use them for way more than their intended purposes. Like awls..er...yes...a couple of times the pointy, needle thin tips have been pressed in to service as make do awls for poking holes through leather or cardboard. I admit that after 6 years of use some of the fine tips are starting to bend a bit but good golly, I have put them through their paces. I can't imagine not having this set in my tools. The variety of tips allows me many options when making an elf face, to adjust an eyelid, soften a nose edge, refine a cheekbone or whatever. Great, great tools.

Good for clay, wax, and soft materials
This is a set of stainless steel picks. They're not toys. With some of the reviews, I wondered what I'd get. But I chose a reputable seller and it all turned out for the best. As others have mentioned, the case is flexible plastic. I don't think it will last forever, but no matter. The picks are the important part, and they're exactly what the artist ordered! As the picture shows, you get a set of 12 double-tipped shaping tools. Many of the tips are pointed, but some are rounded, wide, or flat. A few are even shaped as spoons. The variety is quite nice! These are designed for developing forms and adding surface detail. The points are indeed pointy (Be careful!) and the edges are sharp enough to work with soft materials. They're not really sharp. Just as well, I think. They're not intended as scalpels or dental instruments. Surface rust may be a problem with these as mine arrived with some minor surface staining. A little steel wool will fix that. Also, machining quality could be a little better on some of the picks. I can see some grinding marks and a few surface pits on several of the picks. Still, for less than $8, I can forgive all that. Basically, you get what you pay for, and these are cheap. But they're also quite nice in terms of tip variety and the use I will get from them. So, I can easily recommend them and look forward to using them in my projects! Thanks for reading. :) UPDATE: I've been using these tools with Magic Sculpt epoxy clay, and they work quite well. The assortment of tips gives me a lot of work options. Very happy!

Great set, Everything you need to start.
I have to admit this is a great set, I was worried a bit at first, I got these for work with Polymer clay and I wasn't too sure if they were right for it, But they are great. The only issue I've run into is sometimes on white clay it seems to leave metal coloring marks on it now and then. But I think a good hot water scrubbing (something I should have done as soon as I got them.) will solve that. You get all the tools pictured. in a nice roll up case for travel or storage, And they seem pretty heavy duty, I dropped mine on the floor and one got stepped on by a heavy work boot while we were moving, So I think they can stand up to quite alot of wear and tear depending if your doing clay, Or pottery or whatever you may buy them for. And although the case is nice for storage and travel, I'd buy and extra case or a cup to keep them in at all other times because where some of them are sharp, I see the plastic case getting damaged if they were pulled in and out alot. All and all I'm happy, And i feel it was worth what I spent.
