Looove it!! Bought it and will buy it again!
Oh how I loved this! I bought it for my daughter for Christmas, and I did all the work. It was a little complicated to put together but easy to figure out. Everything fit and lined up perfectly. It snaps together and pay attention to the grooves because they interlock together. I just canโt explain how much I enjoyed seeing these go from caterpillar to butterfly. God is amazing. Also, donโt worry about the red stuff that comes out of the butterflies.. itโs their waste.

Super disappointed that i had to pay an ADDITIONAL $7.99 for the caterpillar coupon enclosed.
I was not thrilled that i had to pay additional shipping for the caterpillars. They arent even shipped in a special way. Just sitting out baking in my mailbox. Nonetheless, the caterpillars were fine and my kids loved watching them grow. The habitat is super cute, easy to assemble (for an adult) and fun to look at, even when its empty. We use it for other bugs when we dont have any caterpillars or butterflies.

Sick, Deformed Butterflies, Frustrating Enclosure, Bad Customer Service
I bought this butterfly kit as part of our bug unit for our homeschool, and we have had a terrible experience with it. First of all, the caterpillars seemed to be sickly because all of our butterflies except 1 turned out deformed. Their wings are crumpled, sometimes chunks of the wings just fall off, they can't fly and they just sit at the bottom of the cage trying to flap their wings but they can't. It's very disturbing as sad for my 6 year old to witness. Only 1/6 butterflies are normal and healthy. Compared to the insect lore kit we did last year, in which 9/10 were healthy. Second, the cage has so many design flaws. The netting is held down by elastic around a circle, and to feed them you're supposed to lift up a portion of the net, but when you do this, the entire elastic pops off and the net opens. Our poor little deformed butterflies that were clinging onto the netting were flung off the net when it popped off, and landed in the food/water thing in the center, and because they can't fly, they were struggling on their backs in there and we had to try and carefully rescue them. Just horrible. Also, the crysallis hang right about the food, so when they emerge, the red liquid drips into the food which is disgusting. There are so many flaws to the cage, I could go on but I'll just say that the insect lore kit was so much better. Third, disappointing customer service. When I explained all this to the Uncle Milton customer service email, they simply responded saying thanks for the feedback and that they went ahead and shipped me another cup of caterpillars. Mind you, this experience was a disaster, and not just because of the unhealthy caterpillars, but also because of the design of the enclosure. I did not want to endure this whole ordeal over again for another round of caterpillars. (Which they would have known if they would have asked first) So I responded saying please don't send me another cup, I do not want to do this again. And they responded saying thanks for letting us know, we'll cancel it. That's it. They did not ask me how else they could make it right, if there was another item they could comp me for, they didn't offer a discount or a refund or anything. They seemed to not care at all. I would never buy this again, and would strongly recommend you to NOT buy this. My child is very upset by all the sick, deformed butterflies struggling at the bottom of the cage. Do yourself a favor and try the insect lore kit, we did that one last year and it was fabulous.

Assistance needed
The parts needed a heavy hand to snap into place and the net was a bit difficult to put into place. It is a beautiful habitat and will be even more once the caterpillars arrive. Update: I would not recommend this set. The net is so hard to get around the base on the bottom and once the butterflies emerge you are meant to get into the net to place fruit and sugar water. raising one end makes other sides snap off the edge and any butterfly on that net gets flung off. The cocoon area is directly about where you place the food and drink so that red liquid drops down on their eating place. One of our butterflies came out with curled wings that never straightned , i believe this to be because of the tight space that was filled with other cocoons and so much webbing . a different butterfly somehow broke part of it's wing off while in this " safe habitat". Overall, it is lovely to look at but seems like it wasn't really tested well before going to market with its design.

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
This habitat is great! If one takes their time, there shouldn't be any issue with the fitting of the covering. I ordered this kit for my 4 year old grandson. Was easy to assemble, and the cover went on fine, just needing a little stretch here and there. Start at the top and don't rush, it's supposed to fit tight, a little tugging is all it needs. Once assembled, order your caterpillars with the enclosed coupon. Open the bottom and attach the cup to the top, or one can do what I did. I simply inserted a few small branches into the habitat, and left the cup (food) near the branching. As the caterpillars got larger, they soon ventured out of the cup, up the branches where they established themselves into chrysalis. I didn't like the idea of a crowded top, and the branching worked out great for the caterpillars, and me. Once all the chrysalis appeared, I removed the cup of food, and inserted a small marigold pot into the bottom of the habitat. It took a bit of time, but in the morning I'd find one butterfly. The second day another, on the third morning, all were flying within the habitat. NOW: I thought it was getting a bit crowded in there, so I ordered the "Rest-Cloud" 15x15x23 inch butterfly habitat from Amazon for 12.99, and I'm very happy I did. I transferred everything (minus the branches) into the new habitat, (I've left my review of that item on the Amazon page). I STRONGLEY ADVISE to make this additional purchase, as I'm hooked on these little 'guys', and I plan to purchase more to release in my coming New England (Massachusetts) garden. I have no complaints on this habitat, it's assembly, quality, or the way its performed. I'll continue to use it for the chrysalis stage, then transfer into the larger habitat. PLEASE NOTE: This habitat or the larger, I suggest using a paper towel on the bottom of each as these little critters 'poop', and that can lead to illness in the butterflies if exposed for a period of time (gets into their food source). It also make the keeping the habitat clean to the eye. GREAT PRODUCT!

Amazing product, unfortunately unable to use.
Although this product was well received and the children I purchased them for were so excited to receive them for their birthdays. Apon opening them (one child only opened them today, 1 day after the return period ended) to find that the voucher for the caterpillars is only valid in America. These were sold to me on Amazon Australia. Now I have opened products no caterpillars and the other childs parents I've gifted the item to probably haven't had the courage to message me to tell me the item isn't able to be used in Aus. I've purchased over $100 worth of items that are now useless.. there should have been checked and not offered to be sold and shipped to Australia on Amazon Au due to this issue.
